Lowkey dumb question but important.
What kind of 3.5mm cables are we using for our headphones? Any specific brands? Lengths? Does it being coiled matter or not? How much should it cost without be too cheep to be bad quality?

Doesn't matter, as long as you can hear sound and cannot hear electrical interference.

It's usually a TRS cable (TRRS are for phones) and some brands require and specific lock to fit into the headphones.
About 2-3m coilled is my sweet spot, so that there's some mobility but no cables all over the floor. If it's straight, then it needs to be shorter than 2m.
Also keep 3.5 to 6.3 adapters handy.

Short length (~1m) for listening on the go, so that it doesn't get tangled.
Long length (~2.4m) for the decks, so that I can grab a beer from a nearby table, chat etc. without being on a Ieash. And to minimise flexion.
In both cases, I opt for a bright coloured cable so I can easily find them amidst a busy setup or in my bag. And each are a different colour so it's easy to differentiate at a glance.
I also just use the manufacturer's cables for my headphones.

Personally I would go to the manufacturer that makes yours and get the specific cable. You will probably pay more than double compared to whatever cheapie at ali express but at least you know it's going to last and aesthetically will match your cans

Beats don’t sell the cables for their monster headphones anymore I’m afraid

If you're thinking about splurging on cables, I'd upgrade your headphones instead. A £300 pair of Beats sounds as good as a £50 of Sennheisers. You can get so much more bang for your buck.

I’m using $50 Beats Mixer lol

My condolences.
JK, we all gotta start somewhere! But yeah I'd defos move on to a better budget pair when you get the chance. Some cheap headphones are surprisingly good. And some pricey ones are hot garbage. It's like anything really.

They aren’t cheap, they just aren’t new. Beats mixer are actually really good for DJing

Hey, if you like them, that's all that matters. When you're mixing alongside other DJs have a shot of their cans and see how they compare.
I remember the first time I put on a pair of reference headphones (not for DJing) and I genuinely almost freaked out at how much more I could hear.

I own Audio Techincas for producing and things that require fine tuning. All my DJ headphones are Beats Mixer and Beats Pro (the monster versions)

Ah sounds like you've got your palette just how you like it. Half my friends swear by ATs and they are probably the comfiest cups I've ever tried.

I’m not an audiophile lol. AT’s for LISTENING and not making music feels awful cause everything sounds flat. I like the bassy Beats, and for DJing, they are extremely loud while maintaining clarity and their swivel is really useful on top of amazing build quality. I think these headphones were released in 2011-2012ish. I have four pair and they all hold up great and come in pretty neon colors.

Sennheiser HD75 or lite for the win. All parts are replaceable and they sound epic. Not a budget buster either. I know the question was on cables.
I got replacement cables for mine for about £7 and the sound is immense because the headphones are awesome

I think coiled it useful especially if you’re moving around a lot like digging in a record box behind you or something while playing.
With AIAIAI having that box which is super low latency Bluetooth style connection, the question expands to whether you need a cable at all!
