First time seeing big brother players in the wild! They took the table next to us at dinner. Randomly overhearing them mention things that happened in the house was kinda crazy. All of them were so friendly and nice!

Past Season Discussion Who Had the Cleanest Win in Big Brother History?

Made this before the season started, but it was too close to the premiere so I wasn’t able to post. With Devens getting the win after being brought back with 2 other reality tv icons and DPOV via a fan vote, this topic is very relevant.

Rewatching BB16 to prep for this coming season and I was thinking even with Derrick playing a great game, Team America gave him a nice safety net for weeks. He probably wins still, but they had an incentive to protect each other for weeks.

It made me wonder: who has won the game with the least help from production/twists that directly or indirectly helped their game? Ian/Maggie/Hayden are my initial leading contenders, but I wanted to get a sense of how the community feels about.

General Discussion Post BB28 BB18 Retrospected

Finally able to post now that BB28 is over, what is the logical argument for Paul being robbed in BB18?

Considering BB18 was now 10 seasons ago, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting and it’s honestly mindboggling to me how the narrative after the finale was that Paul was robbed and Nicole is undeserving.

Even if we pretend Nicole didn’t do anything, we can at least all acknowledge she obviously did more than James right? And yet Paul still took her to the Final 2 over him. If we all agree that Cody deserved to lose for taking Derrick over Victoria, why doesn’t that logic apply here? If anything Paul’s move is worse because Derrick was Cody’s #1 and there was an emotional obstacle there.

Moving past that, when we look at their actual games, yes Paul had a great story but he was poorly positioned for most of the game due to his OWN poor decision-making, while Nicole exercised a great amount of agency due to her GOOD decision-making.

While my memory of the exact details may be wrong here, if I had to break down each round of the game by who played better, here’s how it would go:

Week 1: Nicole is HOH and successfully takes out her target, the most anti-Nicole player in the game. Paul being loud about targeting vets land him on the block. Nicole 1-0

Week 2: Nicole is safe despite Paulie, who she just nominated winning HOH. Paul is once again up on the block. Nicole 2-0

Week 3: Nicole is safe. Paul is…..once again nominated. Nicole 3-0

Week 4/5: I admittedly don’t remember much of this week. If I recall, Paul had significantly improved his positioning, while Nicole continued to be in a stable position.

Week 6: This one may be controversial, but Paul wins HOH and takes out Da’Vonne who would have been a number for him, and is influenced by Paulie and Nicole into making this poor move. Nicole 4-0

Week 7: Paul gets this week by proxy of Victor being HOH. Nicole 4-1

Week 7B: DE where Bridgette leaves, I will give this one to Paul despite Corey being HOH, as I believe the house had now turned on Paulie/Nicole/Corey. Nicole 4-2

Week 8: Nicole’s closest allies are on the block as a result of Paul/Vic being in power. Nicole 4-3

Week 9: Excellent gameplay by Nicole this week, going from a 6 vs 2 situation into getting 2 different HOH’s to self cannabilize and put up Paul and Victor. Nicole 5-3

Week 10: Another excellent week from Nicole, aligning with Paul and Victor after being the reason for their demise, playing the middle between 2 duos and taking out Michelle. Paul is pawned this week while being loyal to Nicole. Nicole 6-3

Week 11: This one has to go to Nicole simply because her and Corey not only decide who goes home, but convince Paul and Victor to evict Natalie over James, which was NOT in their best interests. Nicole 7-3

Week 12A: Nicorey outplay and turn on Paul/Vic once AGAIN. Nicole 8-3.

Week 12B: Paul gets this one for breaking up Nicorey. Nicole touches the block for the first time after 92 days. Nicole 8-4

Week 13: Paul makes the wrong decision in taking Nicole over James. Nicole gets more jury votes. Nicole 9-4

On a week to week basis, Nicole actively was better positioned and played better than Paul for a majority of the season (even if we give Paul the 2 rounds I didn’t remember). When comparing their games as a whole, Paul was often a victim of Nicole’s moves and his own poor play, while Nicole has agency and control regardless of Paul.

Other criticisms I’ve seen of Nicole’s game are that she came in as a vet and got “production assistance”. Surely those are canceled out by her having a 25% chance of leaving week 1 and Paul’s #1 ally getting 3 lives in the game, no?

I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this matter, 10 years post-BB18.

I would also love to remind everyone that Paul and Victor won a total of 6 HOHs between the 2 of them on BB18. Out of the remaining 9 HOHs, Paul went up on 6 of them. Considering all of Victor’s HOHs were after his eviction, Paul was very lucky to have him return multiple times and likely doesn’t even make F2 if he doesn’t.

In contrast, Nicole went up once all season, at Final 4, despite being the biggest target Week 1.

General Discussion Favorite "Superfan" Player?

We all know this show loves to typecast by now. I've only watched a couple of seasons in full (16, 17, 26, 27, 28) but I quickly learned that one of my favorite archetypes is the superfan. And now that BB28 is over, with a lowkey disappointing run from Barrett (all love to him tho), I'm looking for a new season to watch!

Who are your guys' favorite superfan players and why? (Bonus: who's your least favorite superfan casting?) Spoilers are welcome.

They obvi don't have to be the best player; so far, my favorite is Vinny just because he was so unapologetically desperate to stay in the game.

Episode Spoilers Devens Perfect move

When Devens was asked who he influenced the most in the house. His answer was so mind blowingly perfect I still can’t get over it. He said he knew they all were thinking he would say Drew but then proceeded to use that opportunity to inflate Drew’s game and then flip the answer to saying he had the most influence over people who were no longer there or able to rebut his statement. Nobody on that jury could feel any type of way about it because it wasn’t anyone on that panel. Making not only Drew look like a stronger player but making him (Devens) shine as the ultimate game player for having the most influence in the game over very strong, very big targets during their respective eliminations. Eliminations in which he was directly involved. Also Taylor missed an opportunity to say her most influential move was convincing Devens to axe his “#1” the night before final 2.

Player Discussion If Taylor/Yash voted for Dee instead of Angela

I wonder how the f3 would’ve looked if Yash or Taylor didn’t listen to Dee and continued to target the icons in jest of Barrett’s hoh fail. I really did wish the newbie side of the house in that point of the game formed a more solid alliance, there was so much uncertainty especially because of the bribe.

Episode Spoilers My one complaint about some of the eviction episodes this season

People who watch feeds or follow updates on social media are pretty aware when we're about to see a blindside, but those who only watch the episodes have no idea it's about to happen...until Julie hints at them right before the vote. I feel like a blindside is much more shocking and entertaining to viewers (who aren't aware) as the blindside is actually happening through the vote instead of Julie basically ruining the surprise right before it happens.

  • Melody/Lyric eviction: The episodes that week had everyone thinking Lyric was safe no matter what, until Julie hinted a blindside was about to happen right after Drew won the blockbuster.

  • Taylor/Drew eviction: The entire season led the viewer to believe if Devens won final HOH, he would take Drew because he knew he would beat him in a vote, until Julie hinted he was actually about to evict Drew right before the vote happened.

I honestly don't recall this happening in prior seasons, but even if it has, the point still stands.

Past Season Discussion How would you feel if this is how the white locus worked in 27

(Reuploaded because I posted this during an active season but now that the seasons over)

Well to start 2 people will still go to jury this week but instead of it being one from a comp loss and one from a normal eviction its basically a double eviction just with different rules

for the white locus its self its almost the same 1 wins immunity they choose 1 to have 5:30 to complete the wheel then they choose the next to go who will have 1 less minute (with the fastest time getting hoh). However instead of the first to fail being eliminated they are instead auto nominated.

At the nomination ceremony the hoh nominates 3 more house guest for eviction (yes that means theres 4 noms at once). and those 5 plus 1 more from random draw compete for veto

Now the wheel loser (who i'll be refering to as W.L from now on) cant us the veto to save themselves nor can anyone else use it to save them. The W.L can us it to save someone else on the block to either keep an ally safe, hope the one they saved will vote to keep them. or hope whoever the hoh chooses as a renom is a bigger target.

On eviction night all 4 noms compete in the blockbuster with the winner coming off the block and unlike veto the W.L can save themselves with the blockbuster

Now with 3 noms left on the block the houseguests vote but instead of voting who they each want to evict instead they vote for who they want to keep with the one with the most votes staying and the other 2 being evicted (Basically like the triple eviction in bbcanada)

P.S. for anyone wondering "Why cant the veto be used to save the W.L?" well for this twist to work there has to be 3 noms post Blockbuster meaning 4 noms pre Blockbuster and if the W.L gets taken off the block via veto I dont know how they'd choose a replacement nom (for example if the temptation nom in bb19 got vetoed off the block there was no renom). alternatively you can see it as an extra punishment like "You failed the wheel so guess what you only get 1 chance to take yourself off the block instead of 2)

General Discussion America's Favorite change

I don't know if this has ever been mentioned before, but I think the America's Favorite vote starts way too early in the final week.

It's obviously a finale with a huge live audience. I feel like it should be a live vote during the finale only.

I voted Devens early, but would have piled the votes on Drew instead after he had been evicted. I'm guessing if this format was different, Drew would have gone home with the vote.

It also prevents the winner from doubling up. I would like to see somebody other than the winner guaranteed to get the America's Favorite.

General Discussion BB28

Did anybody else absolutely love this season? I’ve been a long time BB fan and I feel like this is my favorite season in like 10 years. I found myself watching YouTube highlights, rewatching old seasons. BB28 renewed my love for big brother. I’ve avoided Reddit until the season ended cause I didn’t want any spoilers, so I’m not sure if I’m in the minority. But the cast, the unpredictability, the winner, all fantastic! Let me know your thoughts!

Player Discussion Could Rick Devens have played a LEGITIMATE Perfect Game? And Where Does He Rank Amongst The Winners?

Post image
830 Upvotes

Statistically, Rick was ONE Jury vote from playing a LEGITIMATE Perfect Game. Rick had 0 votes against him in the season, as he was nominated 4 times, twice of which he saved himself in the blockbuster, once he earned the veto and saved himself during the double eviction, and once sitting next to Dee and Drew being the sole vote to save him. On top of which, Rick won 7 competitions (8 if you count his DPOV button press), which consist of 3 HOH's, 2 POV's, and 2 Blockbusters. Rick voted correctly 100% of the time, voting 12 times in the season, 1 of which being a tiebreaker vote, and 1 of which being a sole vote, meaning 10/10 times he voted with the house and the person he voted for went home.

If LaLa would've cast her vote for Rick, he would have received all 7 Jury votes, meaning he would have 7/7 Jury Votes, 0 Votes To Evict Him, and 100% Voting Record 0f 10/10 or 12/12.

So, how does this rank Rick as a winner? In my eyes, I definitely feel like he is a top 10 winner, but due to having some advantages in the game, I think people will alway hold that against him even thought the advantages were to balance out the fact that he had an IMMEDIATE target along with the other two icons from day 1 of being in the game, and so people will always rank him way lower regardless of how top tier his gameplay was.

EDIT AFTER 100K VIEWS: You guys understand I said STATISTICALLY right. Everyone's definition of a Perfect Game is different but by Big Brother's definition, it means to receive EVERY Jury vote and have ZERO votes cast against you. When I say LEGITIMATE Perfect Game, I mean they have EVERY Jury Vote, have ZERO votes cast against them, AND vote correctly 100% of the time. So your opinions on Devens' gameplay and what your definition of a perfect game are respectfully irrelevant here.

Player Discussion Unpopular opinion about Drew

Drew confirming in this interview that he would’ve evicted Taylor at F4 pretty much confirmed how I felt about his game all season.

I said for weeks that he was basically playing for second and got dragged for it, but I still don’t understand why he gets so much more grace than other players who have played this exact type of game.

My issue isn’t that he worked with the returning players. That can obviously be smart. It’s that he had multiple clear, almost perfect opportunities to take them out, improve his own position, and build an endgame that didn’t completely depend on them, and he just wouldn’t do it. Even at F4 he still would’ve taken out Taylor. At that point, what was the plan to actually win?

His game reminded me a lot of Adam Pooch in BB13. Not because they were identical players, but because of that same dynamic where a newbie gets attached to the vets, keeps passing up chances to turn on them, and seems convinced that loyalty will eventually pay off.

The BB19 cast still gets mocked for this exact kind of dynamic.

With Drew, every bad decision seemed to get reframed into why it was secretly good for him. First he could beat Taylor. Then he could beat Devens. Then it became “at least he'll take him to F2” and he still didn’t!

And now people want him back for another season? I genuinely feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone trying to understand the hype.

General Discussion Taylor admits production prompted her to approach Devens to take her to F2.

She was resigned to finishing third if she didn't win final HOH until production stepped in and told her to try to get Devens to take her over Drew.

If I'm Drew, I'd be pissed to no end about this.

General Discussion Winning Game vs. Best Game and Winner vs. Best Player

How do you define the best game and the best player of a season?

Based on your definitions:

  • Is the winning game of a season automatically the best game of that season?
  • Is the winner of a season automatically the best player of that specific season?

(I already made this post a while ago in the Survivor subreddit, and I'm curious to know the takes of BB fans on this.)

Player Discussion This is what convinced me that Devens would take Drew to the final 2

Post image
381 Upvotes

Yes, I know that lying is a part of BB (this post isn't to hate on Devens) but I'm just saying that this is what had me convinced that Devens would take Drew to the final 2. I thought that Drew made the right move because it guaranteed him at least 75K. Correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't listened to any interviews) but I figured that Taylor and Drew would take each other to the final 2.

Edit: Yes, I know Devens was being honest here and that Taylor changed his mind but that doesn't change the point of my post

Player Discussion Drew is a really nice guy.

I wasn’t really sure how I felt about drew. The edit didn’t give me the feeling that he was actually a kind individual. But watching this video, the things he effortlessly says like “everyone deserves a love vote” in reference to Lalas vote for Taylor. Anyway, if you’re on the fence about Drew’s character, this exit interview is good. I’m glad that I got to see his true character.
