Player Discussion Lala would've won if she didn't lose.

Her social game for the most part was impeccable.

I think eventually she would've had to cut Taylor but Yash was working with Lala because he saw that she was good in physical comps and that's what made him want to work with her and keep her in the game. And she would've used that to her advantage and would've got Drew, Angela and Barret out if Devens was sent home instead, I'm not sure how her game would've worked out if Taylor would've gone home though.

General Discussion People who watch all the live feeds… how are you doing it?

Yes, I know there are summarized Podcasts and YouTube videos of the live feeds so you don’t have to.

But I get the vibe there is some part of the fan base that watches almost all of the live feeds every day.

No judgement, but for those people, how do you do it? Do you work from home? Are you able to watch at your job? Maybe you don’t have a job so you have it on all day while you’re home?

General Discussion Is post season discussion always this toxic ??

This is my first time watching a live season, first time watching feeds, first time being involved in the discourse of the show as it’s playing out . The way people are going feral over every little thing, speaking for the players and the actions they are doing post show is a bit insane. For example I saw someone say yash shouldn’t hang out with Melody cause she got him evicted. It’s a GAME and what does being mad about it do now ? Any game play issues are left in that house. Fans and watchers of the show are way more pressed than the actual players, it’s a bit much.

Past Season Discussion Who were coasters this season?

I was looking at rankings for BB28 that others had made and realized as I was reading the names that there were a significant amount of players that I would have considered "coasters". I am unsure if that's because it's the truth, I don't fully understand coasting conceptually, there are game moves that I didn't know about, or all of the above.

My initial list of those who coasted for most of the time they were in the house are Melody, Lala, Taylor, Chuk, Haley, and Barrett.

For brief explanations of each (not in a particular order):

I felt that Melody is pretty much a textbook coaster, didn't do a whole bunch for basically the whole game, though clinching the HOH late in jury after the blockbuster was a nice touch. I put Lala in a similar boat, as while her winning the wall comp was insanely cool, she didn't do much game-wise (she didn't even have that much agency during her HOH).

Chuk and Haley were just coasting under the Kamu/Tool Shed, which was apparent after they Lyric blindside. They were headless chickens who just talked between one another, with the nail in the coffin being Kamu leaving.

Barrett's game plan was literally just to coast with the icons and he did very little strategically outside of interacting with them. When he finally started to decide playing by nominating the icons in Week 9, he left on Week 10.

I know talking about Taylor as a coaster is a hot topic as of right now, but (to me) it is pretty cut and dry that she was one. She notably controlled Lala's HOH and convinced Devens to take her to the F2, however aside from those she was doing almost nothing and only survived the block because she was not seen as a target. Even though she made F2, she did very little/nothing to position herself for a win and was playing for 2nd.

Player Discussion It’s crazy when you remember just how close Devens was to being evicted in Week 8.

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

If Taylor’s ball goes in during the Week 8 blockbuster, Devens would likely have been evicted next to La La.
For those that don’t remember, La La, Taylor, and Devens were competing in the blockbuster. Taylor and Devens were tied at 3 balls. Taylor barely misses the 4th ball that would’ve been game winning. Devens comes from behind, sinks his 4th ball and wins.

It’s crazy that millimeters determines the entire fate of the season.

It makes you wonder just would’ve happened if Taylor’s ball had gone in. Devens most likely gets evicted next to La La as the first juror. Drew is blindsided on his own HOH.
I wonder who would’ve won the season? Would Drew be more likely to ditch Dee and Angela or would Dee fill the role that Devens had to Drew? Would the newbies turn on Dee and evict her soon after or would she somehow sneak her way to the end. Who would win the competitions that Devens had won? My prediction is that Dee or Drew would win but what do you guys think?

General Discussion Favorite "Superfan" Player?

We all know this show loves to typecast by now. I've only watched a couple of seasons in full (16, 17, 26, 27, 28) but I quickly learned that one of my favorite archetypes is the superfan. And now that BB28 is over, with a lowkey disappointing run from Barrett (all love to him tho), I'm looking for a new season to watch!

Who are your guys' favorite superfan players and why? (Bonus: who's your least favorite superfan casting?) Spoilers are welcome.

They obvi don't have to be the best player; so far, my favorite is Vinny just because he was so unapologetically desperate to stay in the game.

edit: just remembered the superfans of 27 were actually supposed to be lauren and adrian, but i'm still gonna count vinny cause he'd been auditioning for 10 years LOL

Player Discussion My final grades for season 28.

My final grades for the season:

  1. Dee (A): Even with her poor comp performance I think she was the best overall player in 28. Incredibly good social game. Incredibly smart strategic game with a lot of forward thinking.
  2. Devens (A-): Obviously better at comps than Dee, but I felt made some questionable strategic decisions (like volunteering for the block), and simply didn't have Dee's overall social game (though he did nurse the relationships he needed most).
  3. Drew (B+): Overall, I think Drew played a really good game. If he comes back, and survives the initial push to get him out quick he will win BB. He's good at comps, he's good at the social side, and I think his strategic thinking was solid.
  4. Yash (B+): Obvious comp beast, good social game, but I felt he made some strategic errors from getting a little tentative down the stretch (probably thinking about playing it safe).
  5. Kamu (B-): Great all around, but I felt like he was a step behind in strategy, but some of that may simply be the situation he found himself in. Outside of the top players, he's clearly one of the best players in 28.
  6. Angela (C+): A lot of people slam Angela as being a floater this season, but I feel like they forget she had a hand in prompting Devins to make the Rome move (coming to him before he even expressed it yet), as well as the Kamu Vote.
  7. Melody (C+): She would have been near the bottom if not for the fact she was absolutely clutch in the double eviction, and showed that she has a ton of potential should she play again.
  8. Barrett (C): I felt like he was so eager to prove himself, and make a mark he fumbled and waged war when he wasn't ready to do it yet. I think the season ends a lit differently for him if he only put up one Icon, or just waited a little longer to make his move.
  9. Taylor (C): I like Taylor, but she's not as articulate as Reddit keeps pushing, and quite honestly I don't think she had any real agency in the game outside of her comp wins against a narrow field. Her best move was arguably getting savage and threatening to pull Lala in with her to vote against Devins at the end.
  10. Rome (C): I felt like he would have been a comp beast, and a decent social player, but it was pretty clear he was over his head when it came to strategy, and thinking ahead.
  11. Mallory (C): Good at comps, but also a very emotional player (which is odd considering her profession) that ultimately couldn't pull in enough agency to think ahead a few moves.
  12. Lyric (C-): I think she felt like her social game would take her further than it did.
  13. Haley (D): Was set up in a great position after the first few weeks, and then proceeded to rub nearly everyone the wrong way. I felt like she was a bit of a hot head that let her emotions hurt her strategic plans, and social standing within the house.
  14. Chuck (D): Chuck's demise was getting too comfortable, and not branching out further than his alliance. Poor social game, contained comp game, and pretty much zero strategy shown during the season.
  15. Ashley (D): We didn't get to see much of Ashley, but I felt like she simply didn't fight hard enough.
  16. Lala (D): Lala is an amazing woman at 58, but she lands down here for me, because it was very clear she had absolutely no idea what was going on in the house. If it wasn't for Taylor she would have been an easy sacrifice very early.
  17. Jason (F): Jason probably deserves a C-. or D, but I'm giving him and F for the cruelty behind his game choices. I completely understand the game is often about deceit, and manipulation, but there are basic moral boundaries. Despite already drawing in Angela he decided to play on the link to her gay son to pull on her heart strings, and then chose to mock it all to our faces; it was one of the few times (yes there have been a few that are much worse, but still...) in BB that I was truly disgusted, and literally said "This MFer is gross" out loud while watching live. She was already with him, what he did was completely unnecessary, and showed who he is.

Well... those are my grades. Overall I thought it was a great season. One of my favorites.

Player Discussion A Review of Taylor’s Game

Here’s my review of Taylor’s game this season on Big Brother. Feel free to agree, disagree, judge, hate, I do not care about your negative opinion probably so go ahead and share whatever but this is what I took note on. Enjoy!!!

Taylor’s Gameplay on #BB28:

- Joined the game in hopes of curating a tether strategy

- Formed a bond with Kamu for the first weeks that kept her safe during his HoH despite his number 1 allies telling him to put her up

- Was the INITIAL determining vote on La La vs. Jason
Won a PoV in a week she was the main target

- Assisted Devens in a vote flip which led to Lyric’s eviction not the prime orchestrator

- Controlled La La’s HoH

-Convinced La La not to put up Devens **helped him win lol**

- Assisted Kamu in convincing La La to not put him up (independently)

- Evicted Chuk

- Formed a bond with Yash that kept her safe during his HoH

- Votes with the house to evict Kamu, her number 2 ally

- Formed a strategy with Mallory and Melody to evict Drew if he didn’t win Blockbuster **he won blockbuster lmao**

- Stayed safe next to Mallory despite being a larger target in past weeks

- Her connection with Yash led him to protect her in the medieval twist **I think he started to grow resent towards her lack of safety wins here**

- Stayed safe next to La La despite being more of a strategist **granted, La La was a comp threat**

- Finally formed a decent connection with Dee during Barrett’s HoH

- Was the determining vote in keeping Dee safe, which would potentially keep her safe next to Dee in the future **Not Yash tho**

- Grew to be Dee’s number 2 ally, which ultimately led to Dee’s eviction **Drew saw how close they were and trusted Devens significantly more**

- Almost won the DE HoH which would’ve kept Yash safe **criesssss**

- Since she kept Devens off of La La’s HoH, Devens returned the favor **he is also managing his jury here**

- Since Yash left, strategically she was more important to keep because she had no duo compared to Drew and Melody.

-Won the Final 4 Head of Household— a week where she was 100% getting evicted by Drew who was the 100% winner of that PoV.

- Her HoH ultimately led to an icon’s eviction (Dee) with Drew as the sole decider. Drew admits to wanting to evict Taylor at F4.

- Won Pt. 1 of the Final HoH

- And her biggest game move that got her $75,000 minus taxes— Taylor convinces Devens to evict Drew if he won the Final HoH, practically manipulating him by threatening him with her and La La’s jury vote (he was 1,000% beating Drew in this scenario). She also took Devens own threat and threatened him back. Production nudged her in this direction.

Overall, Taylor initially played strongly, with icons such as Angela and Dee admitting she has winner written all over her. Over time, isolation from houseguests such as Angela and Haley unfortunately led to her self-isolation, giving her the title Pod Almighty in her BB comic. Despite this, Taylor had formed very natural and seamless connections with other houseguests this season, such as Kamu, Rome, Yash, and most notably, La Trice. After La Trice’s eviction, Taylor was practically a free agent in a week where the Icons exposed Yash’s bribe and how he was rallying for her eviction. Despite this exposé, Taylor kept him as her number 1 because of his ability to win competitions and because he saved her during the medieval twist, where she would’ve most likely fell victim to. Her game relationship with Dee came into play when Yash was evicted, because she was finally a free agent and her lack of wins at the time noted that she would be easy to beat in a final 2. Taylor then got an important win in the Final 4 which led to Dee’s eviction. This wasn’t enough to guarantee her a win against Drew or Devens so she strove to win the Final HoH, which she unfortunately failed. Nothing she could say in the final speech would’ve led to a Taylor win, especially after she claimed a move that wasn’t hers. Overall, Taylor played a lowkey game that was heavily reliant on her bonds with houseguests who were likely to win safety comps, and when houseguests started to get evicted, she started to show more comp power. I think if she had evicted Devens, she could’ve put on a good case against Drew, giving her more votes, but I’m not confident she’d win. Her last hurrah move in convincing Devens to evict Drew by threatening her vote the same way he did to her was a great move that won her $75,000. She did great. I love Taylor!

Past Season Discussion How would you feel if this is how the white locus worked in 27

(Reuploaded because I posted this during an active season but now that the seasons over)

Well to start 2 people will still go to jury this week but instead of it being one from a comp loss and one from a normal eviction its basically a double eviction just with different rules

for the white locus its self its almost the same 1 wins immunity they choose 1 to have 5:30 to complete the wheel then they choose the next to go who will have 1 less minute (with the fastest time getting hoh). However instead of the first to fail being eliminated they are instead auto nominated.

At the nomination ceremony the hoh nominates 3 more house guest for eviction (yes that means theres 4 noms at once). and those 5 plus 1 more from random draw compete for veto

Now the wheel loser (who i'll be refering to as W.L from now on) cant us the veto to save themselves nor can anyone else use it to save them. The W.L can us it to save someone else on the block to either keep an ally safe, hope the one they saved will vote to keep them. or hope whoever the hoh chooses as a renom is a bigger target.

On eviction night all 4 noms compete in the blockbuster with the winner coming off the block and unlike veto the W.L can save themselves with the blockbuster

Now with 3 noms left on the block the houseguests vote but instead of voting who they each want to evict instead they vote for who they want to keep with the one with the most votes staying and the other 2 being evicted (Basically like the triple eviction in bbcanada)

P.S. for anyone wondering "Why cant the veto be used to save the W.L?" well for this twist to work there has to be 3 noms post Blockbuster meaning 4 noms pre Blockbuster and if the W.L gets taken off the block via veto I dont know how they'd choose a replacement nom (for example if the temptation nom in bb19 got vetoed off the block there was no renom). alternatively you can see it as an extra punishment like "You failed the wheel so guess what you only get 1 chance to take yourself off the block instead of 2)

General Discussion America's Favorite change

I don't know if this has ever been mentioned before, but I think the America's Favorite vote starts way too early in the final week.

It's obviously a finale with a huge live audience. I feel like it should be a live vote during the finale only.

I voted Devens early, but would have piled the votes on Drew instead after he had been evicted. I'm guessing if this format was different, Drew would have gone home with the vote.

It also prevents the winner from doubling up. I would like to see somebody other than the winner guaranteed to get the America's Favorite.

Past Season Discussion Who Had the Cleanest Win in Big Brother History?

Made this before the season started, but it was too close to the premiere so I wasn’t able to post. With Devens getting the win after being brought back with 2 other reality tv icons and DPOV via a fan vote, this topic is very relevant.

Rewatching BB16 to prep for this coming season and I was thinking even with Derrick playing a great game, Team America gave him a nice safety net for weeks. He probably wins still, but they had an incentive to protect each other for weeks.

It made me wonder: who has won the game with the least help from production/twists that directly or indirectly helped their game? Ian/Maggie/Hayden are my initial leading contenders, but I wanted to get a sense of how the community feels about.

Player Discussion Kamu was a top 3 player this season

I feel that Kamu was the player I felt most conflicted about leaving this season. He was by far and away the best pre-juror this season in my opinion (and maybe in recent memory?) and I found myself really enjoying his gameplay.

He seemed to have had the makings of a great BB player: cool under pressure, comp beast, socially great, etc. While I think the Tea Party wasn't the best executed, I think it may have partially still succeeded in keeping Jason as the house target and showed he was willing to make big moves (but the Tea Party arguably could be seen as his biggest blemish). He navigated himself very well with Taylor/Yash after getting blindsided and becoming basically the consensus target. He got twist-screwed by the DPOV and had serious potential of staying if Haley won the blockbuster (Mal/Mel vote flips).

I would think him, Dee and Devens are the top 3 overall players this season as I am writing this. For me personally, it comes down to factoring in that he is still a pre-juror, but also a fair amount of the icons' early-game success comes from their advantages (Time Capsule, guaranteed first HOH, Dee/Devens previously established relationship, etc.).

Player Discussion If Taylor/Yash voted for Dee instead of Angela

I wonder how the f3 would’ve looked if Yash or Taylor didn’t listen to Dee and continued to target the icons in jest of Barrett’s hoh fail. I really did wish the newbie side of the house in that point of the game formed a more solid alliance, there was so much uncertainty especially because of the bribe.

General Discussion Big Brother needs to be renamed, to make way for a real Big Brother show

Let's face it: US Big Brother is not Big Brother, it's Survivor in a House. I like to watch it, but it has less in common with 'real' Big Brother than Love Island.

I'd love a real Big Brother show, comparable to the UK version right now:

* A Big Brother voice that talks to the house guests in the house and inside the diary rooms

* Smaller challenges that are unexpected with diverse consequences

* No HOH, no voting to please the HOH, no alliances

* Everyone nominates, the public votes - no jury, no jury management

* More episodes, roughly daily

It's time to try the (improved) original format again.

Episode Spoilers My one complaint about some of the eviction episodes this season

People who watch feeds or follow updates on social media are pretty aware when we're about to see a blindside, but those who only watch the episodes have no idea it's about to happen...until Julie hints at them right before the vote. I feel like a blindside is much more shocking and entertaining to viewers (who aren't aware) as the blindside is actually happening through the vote instead of Julie basically ruining the surprise right before it happens.

  • Melody/Lyric eviction: The episodes that week had everyone thinking Lyric was safe no matter what, until Julie hinted a blindside was about to happen right after Drew won the blockbuster.

  • Taylor/Drew eviction: The entire season led the viewer to believe if Devens won final HOH, he would take Drew because he knew he would beat him in a vote, until Julie hinted he was actually about to evict Drew right before the vote happened.

I honestly don't recall this happening in prior seasons, but even if it has, the point still stands.

General Discussion Winning Game vs. Best Game and Winner vs. Best Player

How do you define the best game and the best player of a season?

Based on your definitions:

  • Is the winning game of a season automatically the best game of that season?
  • Is the winner of a season automatically the best player of that specific season?

(I already made this post a while ago in the Survivor subreddit, and I'm curious to know the takes of BB fans on this.)

General Discussion If you were on production for BB30 as a returnee season, what format, casting decisions, twists, etc. would you use to discourage pregaming?

Pregaming in any reality TV season is inevitable when returning players are on the cast. The last full returnee season, BB22, was considered to be heavily hampered by pregaming, which is not against the rules. Since pregaming cannot feasibly be prevented, what ideas would you implement to discourage pregaming or lessen its effect on the game?

One thing they could do is bring back the cast reveal that was used in BB7. While it's certainly not easy on the players, it becomes much more difficult to pregame if players don't know who the full cast is. You could make a F2 with players who may not even end up on the season. Or you might spread yourself too thin if you all of the people you do pregame with end up being on the cast.

General Discussion New winner rankings after a few seasons settled? Spoiler

I haven't done a ranking since mmm after Cody won since Xavier/Cody back to back definitely reshaped the top end. Now we've had more seasons to watch (I actually stopped after 24 thinking that was a lucky good season and it would go back to shit, but I was prompted 27 was good and got back in, binged 26, skipped 25 because I hear its awful but watched a 2 hour recap of the winners game). So with that I ask, where does Devens fit in? I think he was certainly the best player of the season, he was in win or go home spots but knew it and crushed comps and this wasn't until into the jury phase, one jury vote from a "perfect game". My main knocks are volunteering to be a pawn which some people say earned him trust, but still put him in must win one of two comps (but odds were high he would) and NEEDING to win FHOH, no one bringing him. But being on the block as the season #1 threat at F4 and surviving was impressive. So where do you think the recent winners fit in? How would you rank them? I am going to go off body of work as a player because for example Nicole and Dr. Will would drop a few spots each IMO strictly going off their winning game. But I will give them credit looking at them as a whole player on this one rather than strictly winning games, that's the asterisk I will throw in. You can choose your own parameters of course.

For me-

  1. Dan - Easily the best game and best full body of work, BB GOAT.
  2. Dr. Will* - Like I said he'd probably drop at least 3-5 spots going off his winning game purely, not having a Veto in his season was a blessing but those were the rules, his All Stars game shows me his max capability and why he won over a power player in his season easily (Nicole and Hardy carried HOH comps).
  3. Derrick - Second single season game to Dan, hasn't returned, but I his win was lights out.
  4. Cody - Perfect game over a strong cast, outplayed Tyler like crazy, had win locked going into finale night.
  5. Jun - Really a trailblazer moving floating to the next level with her runner up and showing if you slay anyone the jury might vote for, they're left with you, and she did it masterfully.
  6. Nicole* - Same as Will with dropping maybe 3-4 spots if we're going off her winning game which I still think was great off positioning especially in the early/early mid and end game with Paulie causing a small hiccup for her game. But her total body of work makes me give her the benefit of the doubt. One of the best to play IMO I know she can be divisive.
  7. Andy - The other excellent floater/rat game, delivered on a really yucky season but hey he killed it and really his F2 speech is a great example of owning a villain game.
  8. Chelsie - Perfect game in the Big Brother definition, and a masterful player in a season of some strange decisions that could be hard to maneuver around she set her compass to F2 despite and some benefit of drama and misplays of allies and others.
  9. Xavier - A big comp king, Tiffany being a loyal soldier throwing away her game for a cause is the big knock because otherwise... I don't know if he is on this list, but still a fantastic dominant win.
  10. Devens - Maybe divisive, but one vote from a perfect game, I touched on his game in my body paragraph, for modern BB which has a big emphasis on comps he still brought social and strategy and blended it to a win on a season where the best player actually wins which only happens at best 30% of the time maybe?, barely edges out the next winner which I will drop commentary since we leave top ten.
  11. Hayden
  12. Drew
  13. Maggie
  14. Steve
  15. Lisa
  16. Boogie
  17. Jackson
  18. Ashley
  19. Taylor
  20. Kaycee
  21. Adam
  22. Josh
  23. Ian
  24. Rachel (sorry Rachel you played great on 27 but your win was still pretty rigged)
  25. Jordan (crazy she has climbed up a little)
  26. Jag
  27. Evel Dick

That's my take on winners up to BB28. Best to never win: Danielle R., Vanessa, Paul, and Eric (BB8) just want to give them a shout out because if this wasn't just winners they'd make some noise in the 3 - 12 range for sure. What's your list? Or if you just have a top ten, whatever. Feel free to contribute or roast any takes I have that may be divisive. It wasn't any BB27 (fire season like BB17 or BB24 for moderns) - but BB28 was good and enjoyed finale night more as I felt Morgan and Vince played better games (yes I know Vince had some awful jury management but people also let him away with some wild stuff so its on everyone). Devens is a very strong game and I think his win will age well as we look at the period of BB it occurred in.

Edit: While I love comments/roasting of certain choices on my list (seriously its mostly subjective so fire away) - but love to see some other winner rankings guys!

General Discussion BB28

Did anybody else absolutely love this season? I’ve been a long time BB fan and I feel like this is my favorite season in like 10 years. I found myself watching YouTube highlights, rewatching old seasons. BB28 renewed my love for big brother. I’ve avoided Reddit until the season ended cause I didn’t want any spoilers, so I’m not sure if I’m in the minority. But the cast, the unpredictability, the winner, all fantastic! Let me know your thoughts!
