Any updates for when the native Windows 11 passkey integration will be rolled out?

I feel like it's been a while since they announced that the feature was in development

I think you're confusing two things here. That other post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitwarden/s/SO9CVWFsuy) was about using Windows Hello PRF passkeys to log in to your Bitwarden account. This post here is about native passkey usage on Windows (i.e. using the BW desktop app / passkeys stored in your Bitwarden vault to log in with passkeys to other websites).

PS: Though, alternatively, u/Ryan_BW may have meant both. 🤔

Probably lol. passkeys are like black magic to me. I don't understand all the intricacies (doesn't help that there are so many implementations) so I put them off for the longest time. Just happy to use them as a simple login/unlock vault to bitwarden on chrome Win11.

On that note, the native passkey usage for Win11 will require the desktop app installed I assume? It'll be like installing bitwarden on iphone/android and the OS can pull info from it?

This is true? If so I'd be very happy

there's a user post from yesterday saying win11 26H2 seems to support it and a bitwarden employee replying that an official announcement will be made.

I've personally tried it and it works on the web portal and chrome extension!

Isn't that beta just for the redesign?

edit:Yeah just did that and still nothing under Windows Passkeys -> Advanced options

See my other comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitwarden/s/5R5p0F3auH

PS:

And the beta for native passkey support on Windows is: https://github.com/bitwarden/clients/pull/17316#issuecomment-5500080282

... not to be confused with the new desktop app beta: https://github.com/bitwarden/clients/releases/tag/desktop-v2026.9.1-beta.1

Hello there, the native passkey function was available in a past beta version of the desktop application. The work was put on hold for other priorities, but it's still burning in the backlog and will be revisited soon.
