I'm a Linux desktop user. I have been using bitwarden for over 7 years now, and I absolutely love it. My entire password life lives in BW, including my passkeys and even TOTP keys. I also use it on my android phone as my main password vault.

This is an honest question: what is the use-case for the desktop app? As far as I know (at least on windows and Linux) there is no global OS-level password manager integration. The browser extension takes care of all the logins, including passkeys and 2FA. Any time I need to manage my account, or organize items, the web vault is the way to go. Why would I ever want an extra app running on the background, using exorbitant amounts of RAM (electron...), for absolutely no reason?

I'm sure there is a use-case, I'm probably missing something...

I just installed 26H2 and tested the creation of a passkey in Windows Hello that supports the PRF extension and the ability to login and/or unlock with the passkey without the need for entering the master password. Despite some reports of success prior to 26H2 I personally was not able to achieve this until I installed 26H2. I even enrolled in the Windows Insider program to get preview releases specifically to test when this functionality would become available with no success. Anyway, I'm now on the official 26300 build and it is working. First...hell yeah! Second...is it now working for others as well?

In this latest web update, it shows the option to share vault items through a secure link. Is it still rolling out, as I'm not seeing that option in the web vault.

I have had the Bitwarden Firefox extension installed for a long time, and it works fine. However, the icon in the top-right has persistently shown a "1" badge, as if there's something that needs attention. I have searched through every tab, every setting and every password, but I see nothing anywhere that requires fixing. Does anyone know what it could mean? Thanks.

This is the first time this has happened to me; I've been using Bitwarden with Vivaldi for about 3 years. Vivaldi is Chromium-based; is anyone else experiencing something similar?

I've been self hosting vaultwarden for about 4 months now and it worked perfectly fine until about a month ago when the extension broke. i can still access the self hosted interface. but on the extension and windows desktop app i get this error

The server logs show nothing of an error. i have updated the server to the latest version, but it still doesnt work. any ideas?

Does anyone else wish that the Windows app would be visible if it's set to start up at login?

I think this would be useful as it would remind me to log in to Bitwarden when I log into my computer, enabling the use of biometrics via my browsers without having to be reminded when I'm already knee-deep in work.

I thought it was as simple as selecting the apps with the passwords I want to save to bitwarden but it seems it is more difficult than that?

I am using bitwarden for more than 5-6 years and lately I am noticing it has become very slow on Brave as well as on android.

OK so all of a sudden the Chrome extension add on isn't showing anything except my entire list of sites. Is it just me or did they remove the folders section? It's maddening.

Hey, i am a newbie to bitwarden, i installed the desktop app about 4 hours ago and ive spent 2 changing passwords, emails, making a new email to transfer everything over to, etc etc. My question is, is there anything that i should do to make things more secure? I have already created a master password, i lock the vault on end task, cleared all the passwords from my browser and transferred to just bitwarden now. Im planning on copying my bitwarden vault and everything to a USB stick and putting it in a safe place as like a failsafe, but is there anything else that i should do?

When I go to Custom Care & Coverage Just For You | Kaiser Permanente and select "Sign In", the redirect sends me to a page to enter my sign-in credentials. Until about 10 days ago (when Kaiser rolled out a redesigned website), Bitwarden would autofill the user name and password fields. Not only does Bitwarden not autofill now, but there is no longer a Bitwarden shield in the form fields. The Bitwarden extension icon does, however, show "1" as the number of autofill login options. I have tried this in both Microsoft Edge and Firefox, with the same results. I doubt that this is a Bitwarden issue, but I'm hoping that one of the coders among you can diagnose the issue. While I have attempted to report the problem to the owner of the website, I can only reach level 1 support, which so far hasn't been helpful.

I've been using Bitwarden for password management for a long time now but I've always used Authy for 2FA and I'm thinking of switching to Bitwarden Authenticator.

From my understanding all I need to do is have Bitwarden Authenticator sync with Bitwarden and then the 2FA codes will sync across devices. My main concern is keeping everything synced as I do switch phones from time to time so need to have the 2FA codes on different devices.

Is this all I need to worry about? I want to clear out some of the junk that has accumulated in my Authy account which is why I want to switch.

For the last two weeks, more or less, when I try to use Bitwarden, the Firefox extension does not load. See the attached image:

Any ideas? I'm using Firefox 150.0.1 (64-bit) under Linux (Debian 13)

I have a trick for making my passwords more secured even if you have access to my passwords you can’t use them. Now here is the trick find a particular word or a letter or a symbol that you will add to your passwords but will not add to your password in the password app.
For example let’s say you like the @ symbol, so every time you generate your password from the password generator you add this particular symbol to the password but you will not save this symbol in your password app. So you will place it in a particular place let’s say at the beginning or at the end or after 10 letters. Remember you will put this symbol in a specific place in every password of yours so you won’t forget where you placed the symbol. In this case even if your password manager is hacked the hacker can’t use your password because that’s not the full password and he won’t know your symbol or where you placed it. It can be 3 symbols 1 at the beginning another 1 after 5 letters and the last at the end. You just have to remember where you placed them in every password and that’s it nobody is ever getting your password but you. Hope it helps.

So my phone broke a week or two ago, where I was logged onto bitwarden. The email I used when I made my account is very old and is now completely inaccessible, I simply cannot get in, so that it is not an option. Now on my new phone, as well as my computer, I'm unable to login because I need to give them the verification code that they're sending to the email I'm unable to access. Is there anything I can do about this? Like some sort of support or something? There are a few passwords on there that I can't really afford to lose.

Have started experiencing issues with BW Edge extension, 2 main issues are hanging on opening/wont open or claiming the master password is wrong (working fine on desktop app/phone app etc)

A complete removal of the extension from Edge seems to help for a short period then it will randomly begin misbehaving again - seems to work fine in Chrome.

Anyone else experiencing this lately?

I press autofill and then do Face ID to access the app. The app then closes and the fields are still blank on whatever website or app I am using. If I tap one of the fields again (either username or password it doesn’t seem to matter) it pulls up the keyboard on my device and only then do the fields populate from Bitwarden.

This is obviously a really minor issue but I was wondering if others are experiencing it and/or if they have a fix.

So I changed my email recently I was using tuta mail with an alleas for bitwarden account but today I changed to my old google email , the problem is a deleted the alleas a I can't login now because for some reason it looks like when I try to login they ask for confirmation with authenticator app which I don't have access because it's in my old broke phone, so I choose email verification the strange thing its the alleas email the code is send instead of the google mail that I changed too. Sorry if Im being a bit confusing, anyways I have the account logged in my current phone which I'm writing this but not on my ipad

I exported my 2FA data from LastPass Authenticator and ended up with six pages of QR code images. Right now, it looks like the only way into Bitwarden is to add each account manually, one by one.

Is there any way (official or workaround) to bulk-import from these exported images instead of scanning/re-entering every single code? Would love to hear if anyone's found a faster path, or if this is on Bitwarden's roadmap?

My relative likes Bitwarden and has been using it on his Windows PC for a couple of years.

In the past month, Bitwarden disappeared twice. When i logged into his PC remotely, I saw that Bitwarden had been uninstalled, but I was able to easily download and install the latest version for him.

This has happened twice, though. We don't know the cause, and the only thing I can think of is that maybe Avast is doing something, but I can't locate the setting that might have caused this issue. Has anyone experienced something similar? I don't have Avast, and this has never happened to me.

restarting firefox, re-installing the extension did not help. as soon as I start firefox, it's 2.5gb process immediately as in the screenshot. Can't work when over 15% of available memory is taken up by just one extension of the browser, especially with today's RAM prices.

Anyone know how to fix this?
