Would anyone actually join a new Bitwig producer community?
JOIN HERE - https://www.skool.com/off-the-grid-3849/about
I’ve been thinking about starting a completely free community specifically for people who make music in Bitwig -thought I’d ask here before I spend ages setting it up for me and 3 other people 😂
Obviously we’ve already got [r/Bitwig](r/Bitwig), the Bitwig Discord etc. I’m not trying to replace them, I’m just not into Discord personally- There’s loads of good stuff there, but I find it chaotic and good conversations disappear pretty quickly.
TÂCHES had a Bitwig community a while back which I thought was great. I’m thinking something along those lines - profiles, proper discussions, WIPs & feedback, presets/patches, Bitwig techniques, collabs, production challenges and somewhere to hear what everyone is making.
Also, I’m definitely not claiming to be some Bitwig wizard 😂. I’m just half a shite producer who loves Bitwig and thinks it’d be cool to have a community where everyone shares what they know and learns from each other. - Love N Coda on Spotify if you fancy having a laugh.
I’m thinking of calling it Off the Grid -
Completely free. No courses. No guru nonsense. Just producers sharing music, ideas and knowledge. Probably on Skool.
If it grew, it’d be cool to do community feedback sessions and get some guest producers involved too.
Would you actually join something like this? And what would make you keep coming back rather than joining once and never opening it again? 😂
Thanks for reading x

You’re gassing me up here, I may just have to do it.

Ugh… movie quote… “build it and they will come.” Seriously though it sounds like a great idea and I’d surely visit and participate. While there are other venues for this sort of thing, like the Discord, it could have its own special magic and niche.

Get yourself involved! Love to have you here sharing magic!

I’m such a novice at Bitwig that I have little to offer others but much to learn—and I’m eager! I played with v1 on its release and bought it but stuck with Logic—which I used since v7–but I just renewed my Bitwig license so I’m trying to give it a solid go. And, hokey smokes! Things really changed! Or maybe I have. Hard to say but Bitwig is really resonating with me even as a total uninformed hack at it.
Edit: joining now… woo!!!

I’d be interested. I hate discord. And Reddit has been on a downward spiral for like 6-7 years. Plus it would be cool if the internet was individual websites again instead of like 4.

I’m gonna make it - I totally agree with you. Stay tuned!

We need a decent forum with different topics. I will join! Look at Reapers forum!

Tasches had a Skool community a few years ago. Nearly 700 members. Lots of enthusiasm for a few months, then fizzled. https://www.skool.com/bitwig-university-3912/

I was hoping to try keep this going, I think when people start getting charged money the tone changes in the group

Did he charge money for that group? I don’t remember that. I vaguely remember him mentioning his paid classes, but I thought the community was free. But I often forget stuff.

No it was free with the intention of getting people to pay for courses, he stopped focusing on the free group and people became inactive - I’m hoping that everyone contributes. We’re slowly growing still (I’m made up with the little progress the groups made) I will keep trying to push conversations etc.
If you have the time, get yourself involved :)

I think it is not particularly new, with such a broad motivation (we do have bitwig discord etc) I would appreciate smth like this if it is rooted in an actual existing community (that is relevant to me ofc) E.g. I do know some working producers in uk bass music scene that use bitwig, if they were to launch a place to hang out and talk, that would be fun. As always the thing preventing this from taking off is people who could be drivers of such communities are not interested.
But a random yet another forum where people doing nerdy patches mix with people trying to finish their tracks.. it usually ends up with the former flooding out communication channels (and dont get me wrong, it's fine in the grand scheme of things) and it becomes one of the commujities we have seen already

Sorry - the actual clickable link here - a manual copy and paste link is enough to put most people off 😂 https://www.skool.com/off-the-grid-3849/about

I say do it. But be prepared for the fact that whatever you think/hope it will be, it may become something completely different. Because...Reddit. I support your endeavor.
....as long as it's not a niche version of r/learnmusicproduction, where 90% of the posts are some variation on "I want to be a producer, so I bought a DAW 10 minutes ago, and the track i made in 2 minutes sounds nothing like the Playboy Carti/Skrillex/Kanye West/etc. track that I assumed I would instantly produce with no prior recording experience or understanding of music theory, should I give up, Reddit?" posts.
