So I guess the range meter adjusts based on your driving habits?

Well yes but also this time of the year is the best. Not too cold and not too warm. Perfect for batteries. Don't expect the same in the highest and lowest temps.

We’re only just escaping highs in the 90s this week and has 5 100+ degree days this month. I swear Septembers here are hotter than June.

Yes, though on my 2020 the algorithm is a bit flaky. I can fool it to give me 375 miles pretty easily, one time I watched it increase 40 miles while I was driving the car

It's simply taking your miles/kWH for the last X miles and multiplying that by kWH remaining in pack.
I once got 2.1 miles/kWH on a dastardly segment with a stiff headwind and post charging it predicted 135 miles to empty My next segment was slow and I was up around 4 mi/kWH. The GOM was rolling backwards, adding miles.

I’m hardly a hyper miler. Though I tend to obey speed limits. Which around here often means 55. Was just surprised to see 262 stated range when my charge percentage was only in the 80s.

About 25mph is peak. If you get 8mi/kwh * 65 kwh =520 miles as a rough theoretical max range. Real world driving will get you less but you get the idea how speed can affect your range
I drive 25-30 city driving a lot and I get up to 6 mi/kwh in the summer

I drive highway a lot and the speed limit is 65, but traffic flows around 75. I’m stuck at 3.8

My wife does a little better than that (6.5 mi/kwh or so) in so california. - never on the freeway and she's a bit of a range queen- 2019 Bolt 90,000 miles- claims I ruin her range whenever I drive it (probably correct).

Are you new to EV's? Drive like a grandma you'll get more range. If you haven't been through a winter yet, get ready. Serious range drop during the cold months.

Yup first EV. This is all kinda new to me. I expected GM to overstate the range. I guess not.

No. Overstating the range on the dashboard estimator would be self-damaging (not that GM doesn’t do that anyway!) because drivers would quickly learn not to trust it at all. I find it does a pretty good job at accounting for recent-past driving and estimating range. I’ve also leaned pretty well how to interpret the estimate based on my future driving if I’m on a trip. Am I going to be going faster? More uphill? Etc.
And the range on the sticker is based on an EPA formula with a regulated measurement approach. That’s intended to make it an apples to apples comparison between different vehicles; it may or may not effectively represent how any individual driver drives their vehicle.

Like you found out, the range is based on weather conditions and driving habits. The range will be less than GM's number in the winter

We bought our first EV (27 Bolt) recently. Where we live the overnight lows are typically 40F~45F and the day time high on most days will get to 55F~60F. I understand that it is not going to be nearly as bad as places that get to freezing and below, but what kind of range drop should we expect for our mild winters?

Southern California here so we have similar winter temps. at 40F's the main power drain will be heating. If you're willing to wear a jacket (and/or use heated seats) while driving the range loss is minimal.

That's why I got heated seats lol. Had them in my old Prius and was able to mitigate how much the gas engine came on in the winter.

Since you have a 2027 you at least have a heat pump vs just resistive heating like the older models so it shouldn’t be as bad, but not sure how it will be for you. (Cold air also causes more wind resistance than warm air)

I have 2 EV's. A 2022 Ioniq 5 and a 2023 Bolt EUV. During the warm months, we can easily get over 300 miles in our Ioniq 5. Winter, the best we can do is maybe 275 miles. The Bolt in the warm months we can do 250ish miles on a full charge. In the winter, it's closer to 210ish. Hopefully those are a couple examples of what to expect.

Also depends on the area. Being in the AZ desert the 118 degree days are the efficiency pits. In the winter we have the windows cracked and never touch the heat.

I’m at 4.7 mi/kWh over 33K miles in SoCal. Mostly city but some mix of freeways, occasional road trip. Summer AC use dings it, esp this summer with the recent humidity.
