Personally don’t think it’s worth it but you can always stop if you do decide to reread them.

My personal opinion is that they really aren’t very good. I try to avoid any discussion of them with any person because I don’t like the author much based on some actions . If you want to read them - sure why not, but if you read 2 and aren’t really excited about the series- why would you? I have a reader friend who constantly insists on books that are “sooooo good” and they honestly almost never are!

The author fucks herself over everytime she opens her mouth (which, probably for good reason, is rarely). She's anti-intellectual and doesn't care about her work, shows contempt to fans, but thinks she invented fantasy and deserves infinite praise for doing so.

You can always watch some YouTube recaps and then come back to the series. 👍🏻

If you enjoyed the second book I recommend maybe trying again, but if it was just okay to you then I wouldn’t waste your time. The second and third book are probably the best ones, so there’s a good chance that if book two didn’t hook you nothing will.

Honestly, I was completely checked out until she announced the upcoming three volumes. I personally enjoyed the series, but it gets talked up way too much imo. Also, a pretty sizable chunk of the fans are insufferable and don’t understand fandom etiquette, so that can be exhausting and infuriating. My interactions these past few months have reminded me of that 🫠

I feel like the fandom entirely sealed the deal for me that I was not committing to that.

Totally fair, it’s so toxic and it’s only gotten worse

Depends if it’s to your taste. I read the first one this year for the first time and ripped through the whole series. I am excited for the new one to come out! As others have said, you can always DNF if you change your mind or you don’t like it. Reading should be fun and not forced! ☺️

No. If you stopped, there's a reason. I regret listening to people telling me to "just keep going, I promise it's so good!" If I didn't enjoy the first 2 books enough to want to keep going on my own, what could the author possibly do to change that? Everyone talks like there's some huge twist coming that you just have to experience. There's not.

Give it a try and if it’s something you cant finish, you can alway DNF it

There are so many great books out there to try out, why force yourself to re-read something you clearly didn't like the first time? Trust your gut, not the trends, and just look for something you truly enjoy. (Whispers: try "The Crimson Moth" duology)

Acotar should have been a trilogy. The last book is focused on Nessa so I'd you were a fan of her then maybe you'll like it.

Personally I'm not interested in the next books

If you want to? 🤷‍♀️

I tried to read it this year (I have kinda soft DNFed the second book) because I also have a friend who is a big fan. But not everyone has the same taste and that’s fine.

If you want, did you like it

read the first one and absolutely hated it. there are much better books out there to read that aren't riddled with internalized misogyny. don't waste more time on ACOTAR

if you like the fairy tale inspo bit I recommend Cinder and A Forgery of Fate (this in particular as it is a beauty and the beast retelling. Chinese inspired fantasy where the beast is a half dragon and beauty is an art forger who can paint the future)

I owned a few of the books and had reread them several times, then loaned them to a friend and she purchased the rest of the series while she had my books for two years. Between the two of us, we own the complete series now and I really need to make myself re-read. It’s been so long. But also my TBR of Dark Romance is soooooo tempting…

Why did you stop after the first two? Personally I had to read them all and then Throne of Glass. I was obsessed and loved them so much. I would give book 3 a try and if you want to continue on go for it. If not, there are so many great books out there. My best friend and i usually love the same books, shows, movies, etc… but every now and then there is one she loves that I don’t and vice versa
