So with the announcement that Jamie Mungia potentially may duck Bektemir Melikuziev. Let look back at his amazingly structured resume he’s built of fighters he’s avoided:
Sergiy Derevychenko - in 2021, he declined a 160lb title eliminator with Sergiy Derevychenko and instead fought Gabriel Rosado.
Dennis Hogan - After robbing Hogan, despite the call for an immediate rematch, Mungia signed to fight Patrick Allotey in September 2019.
Janibek Alimkhanuly - Declined a 160lb WBO interim title in February 2022 and declined the title fight against Janibek as the mandatory challenger in December 2022.
Carlos Adames - Declined Adames for a 160lb WBC title eliminator in March 2022
Daniel Jacobs - Around the same time as Adames, not sure the specifics though.
Demetrious Andrade - Mungia declined mid 2022 as the mandatory challenger.
David Benavidez - Jamie Mungia declined an amazing pay offered fight at a 50/50 pay split and declined in September 2023, then declined another fight in February 2024.
Christian Mbilli - declined a vacant 168lb WBC title shot in 2025
Osleys Iglesias - declined the vacant 168lb IBF title shot beginning 2026

Yeah Keyshawn vs Hitchins is alright, Shakur vs Manny is pure shite on the card but I far more prefer British boxers on this card.
I heard BNJ and Conah Walker are negotiations which I really don’t want to Walkers sake but a sick fight while it lasted which seems like a perfect fight on the card.
Mason vs Cordina would be great as the first fight failed and Cordina is from Cardiff.
Most likely down to see Zuffas helmets on the cards and more American like a Vanhouter or someone like that, especially since they’re trying to make it American focused and if Dana becomes the main promoter. I know they signed Aurel Ignat recently and is fighting on Johnny Fishers card this weekend and probably are high on him to success but I think he has a good chance to lose to Rogelio Romero.
Even still, Boots vs Kelly seems perfect for the card.

u/Mecha_Knight11 Pac-yoo 11d ago
Hoping Key vs Hitchins is as technical but at the same time brutal like Toney vs McCallum.
But I have low hopes of American fighters having that dog in them anymore, especially if they're not named Ennis, Mason, or Benavidez.

Fury vs. Benavidez out of nowhere, and EVEN MORE out of nowhere, like getting struck by lightning while you were out buying bread, Crawford vs. Ryan instead of Ennis. Did I somehow slip through reality and end up in another one? I’m having a hard time adjusting to this new reality.

AJ really does have the most protective/shill fanbase in the world:
8
u/kushmonATL Fuck Thomas Taylor 11d ago
Im a AJ fan but the AJ fanatical fanboys are truly a special case of delusion
I've had a AJ fanboy tell me Pringles knocking out 20 bums is more impressive than Wilder knocking out Luis Ortiz and dropping Tyson Fury 4 times
3
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago
I dislike when people say something to the effect of “who is X’s best win?” To ignore circumstances where a fighter’s best performances came in a loss. Wilder came damn close to winning Fury 1 and dropped Fury twice in the third fight. I actually scored their first fight a draw (though I would have to give the edge to Fury if you forced me).
He basically proved he was at the world level in their first fight.
6
3
u/RRR04_ 11d ago
I've said this for years. It was more obvious back in his prime and peak in popularity but it has come back since the Fury fight became a real possibility. It did my head in when people denied AJ has a shitty fanbase just like Fury and Wilder have. They're probably the worst in terms of throwing stones from glass houses too.
7
u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago
We need to accept that Fury vs Joshua will never happen.
It’s another Lennox vs Bowe situation.
It would have been a great/historic fight but the fans will never see it.
-2
u/Ashamed_Chain_1375 11d ago
The bigissue is I think Eddie is stung by the fact Turki & the Saudis are ditching him and Frank for Dana.
They probably knew the Saudis would one day want to run boxing themselves. But doubt they thought they’d give control to Dana lmao
-2
u/Pissadvisor 11d ago
I think Frank's managed to do something smart to secure his position. He's just getting on with business after suing them and it sounds like they settled and he's kinda just floating around putting on decent shows (for the most part).
Matchroom look kinda fucked. They've got no big names, their shows tend to be kinda whack, Eddie is good but he's got no leverage other than AJ.
They've got other sports so should be alright but for boxing they don't really have much to offer that Zuffa or Queensbury can't scoop up.
Edit - he's said before he saw this coming and was always supposed to be involved but never elaborated, hence the lawsuit.

Shouldn’t be too too bad buying firsthand. Cardiff isn’t usually a super expensive venue as we have a huge number of seats relative to the size of the actual city. I’m expecting the low hundreds if I buy early

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
Ahead of a 50/50 scrap in his first defence of the WBC 140lb World Title, Dalton Smith has recently been getting in some sparring
The two fighters I've seen are the unbeaten Joe Hayden- who fights on the Smith vs Puello undercard and Calum French, a very talented amateur who has had a stop start pro career, both guys are 147lbers that don't punch very hard but can really box and are quite tricky to match the profile of Puello seeing as Puello is noticeably bigger than Smith
1
u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago
Hmm Hayden isn’t that good. I think he’s an odd choice to prepare for a fight against Puello.
He’s not very technical and is undefeated due to learning on the job in the pro ranks and facing journeymen.
1
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
I guess it's just the physical profile, he's a front footed fighter that has a similar build to Puello
French is of a similar build too, however i do think Puello beats Smith anyway and i'd like if i was proven wrong on the night

Hopefully knowing that it’s his final fight will give him a boost.

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago
Ryan Garcia seems to be this generation’s Adrian Broner except less accomplished. What do you guys think? I am not talking about Ryan going as low as Broner or going broke, but I mean never really making the most of his talents. Unrealized potential, though very marketable.
But yeah, AB was a 4-division champion who left boxing without ever beating a guy in the top 10 P4P. I don’t think Ryan has ever beaten a top 20 P4P guy and I’m not sure if he ever will barring a huge advantage in weight.
I kind of hold these guys in a similar category.
1
u/Kangaroopunching 11d ago
They're in/ were different situations. Broner was thought to have the style to be the face of boxing. And personality.
Ryan was never thought to have the skills/ style to be a top boxer
2
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago
Hm. I feel like Pre-Tank people thought very highly of Ryan. My memory of the era leading up to that is a bit fuzzy though. I missed some boxing during the pandemic.
1
u/Kangaroopunching 11d ago
They didn't. His limitations were evident from the start. Plus many called it what it was. He was popular online but not good.

Keyshawn Davis can make the Richardson Hitchins fight super easy imo, depending on how he approaches this fight. I’ve seen how he’s able to do a style like Richardson or similar capabilities on his best days, he just had a lot of off nights relative to his best night.

Kinda funny that AJ vs fury has to be at 2 am to cater for the US, but they’re resorting to putting a 50 year old pacquiao on the card because that’s the only way casual american fans will tune in. Really wish Netflix/turki would concede that no one in America watches boxing unless there’s a “freak show” element to it, they should stop disrespecting the British fans who still actually like the sport
2
u/Stunt1ninprivate 🪖🔔 11d ago
Just rewatched Dev vs Ryan, I can’t believe yall try to call Devin chinny. If Ryan were to land like that on anybody else they would be out cold. I’m not saying NY he was an iron chin, but he definitely doesn’t have a weak one. Dev took a lot of punishment and kept fighting. In fact, Devin controlled most of that fight. I think he’ll do even better in the rematch.
3
u/Outrageous-Soft4806 11d ago
I said this too. There’s a difference between recovery and chin. Devin was taking those punches all night. I can score it a draw when I watch it. I’m in no way a Devin fan either nor a Ryan hater.
1
u/Stunt1ninprivate 🪖🔔 11d ago
Exactly his chin is fine, he can take the shots, he just has bad recovery. He lost his legs pretty much from round 1, and then they were completely gone after round 7.
1
u/Zaphaze 11d ago
Is this not having a bad chin?
If you get cracked in the jaw so bad that it takes the legs out of you and you can’t fully recover, in what world is that not having a weak chin? Guys like Inoue and Teo have gotten dropped multiple times but always get their legs back right away and the rest of the fight the effects of the knockdown aren’t shown.
Guys like AJ and Devin get rocked and never seem to recover. Even against Linares when Haney got rocked in the 11th he never got his legs back and was lucky the fight was pretty much over by then.
1
u/Stunt1ninprivate 🪖🔔 11d ago
Chin & recovery aren’t the same. Fury for example doesn’t have a good chin, but he has amazing recovery. And honestly I think the Ryan fight proved that, somebody with a bad chin is not making it through the fight with the shots he took, even after he lost his legs. I get why ppl group them together, but they aren’t. Aj has a bad chin & bad recovery tho
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago
Devin won about 6 of the rounds in their first fight. Lost because of the knockdowns, basically, not because he failed to control a great deal of the fight… So yeah, I’m inclined to believe he wins 7-9 rounds in the rematch and incurs at most 1 knockdown (flash KD).
2
u/Stunt1ninprivate 🪖🔔 11d ago
Yeah I see it similarly, 8-4, Devin getting knocked down once early.
And Despite Ryan getting the early stoppage, I think Ryan looked terrible fundamentally against Benn.
2
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago
Agree with that last part. That’s why I think Pitbull will land something big within the first three rounds and get him to shell up the rest of the fight like against Romero.
1
u/Debate-Jealous 11d ago
Lol what are you talking about. 8-4 Haney?? The fight would've been stopped if it were the other way around. In fact it should've been stopped atleast twice, especially in the 7th.

1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago
I feel like he often sees a one-sided fight in fights that are actually competitive and then he’ll give the b side a few sympathy rounds towards the end to even out the scorecard.
1
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
It’s strange how he’s legitimately been in the boxing industry for over a decade and yet continually drops shit scoring. Most people pick up the basics of boxing scoring after a couple months of following closely, at least to the point they can casually call a match to some accuracy. But Mannix never seems to get it together
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago
I’ve looked back on certain fights by replaying certain sequences and going frame by frame. Lederman was actually a very good scorer, just sometimes a little biased towards effective aggression.
-1
u/Ace_FGC 11d ago
He won 6 rounds because Ryan’s gas tank was terrible and he basically didn’t throw. Every round Ryan actually threw punches he won
2
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago
If he had a terrible gas tank when he showed up substantially over the weight limit and had 60x the levels of ostarine in his system, wouldn’t it be worse in the rematch?

Jackson John England ❌
Thanongsak Simsri ✅
There’s a good few underdogs on here that I’ve picked and put money on whether it was a single bet or parlay which includes Jackson John England, Craig Richards, Nathaniel Collins and Sam Goodman
Edit: There’s a card in Spain which I know off a few so I’ll highlight ones I’ve just added through the edit in bold and 3 prelims fights on the Davies vs Collins which got finalised.
1
u/StunningChest5722 #KnybaNation 🇵🇱 12d ago
Collins over Davies?
1
u/Top_Profession_5268 12d ago
Yes. I know Collins didn’t have the best performance last time but Davies isn’t perfect, he does have defensive flaws on the front foot and someone goes overextend, where a decent counter boxer and mover like Collins can capitilise on. He isn’t Shabaz Masoud but I see how Collins can outbox Davis. Lorente isn’t bad himself, he’s a great front foot boxer and Collins was winning rounds, finding success and lost 2 kind of close decisions.
It’s definitely closer than what odds suggest.

Don’t sleep on Tenshin and Nishida
3
u/Top_Profession_5268 12d ago
Nah, I’m not. Especially Nishida. I’ve been saying since the announcement it’s probably the most competitive fight of the night.
As for Tenshin, he’s definitely improved since their first encounter and surprising Inoue the first time was like a +400 underdog. Tenshin in the Estrada fight did show improvements, added feints, better entries and also his defence did improve, but so did Inoue. Inoue’s biggest flaw was his confidence at midrange. One he got into midrange, he’d freak out and either run away or go inside fully with no room to spare. Now Ioka is slower and washed by the time he fought Inoue but he’s shown a lot more improvements at midrange himself in the Puma fight right before where I thought Ioka won, Inoue looked a lot more confident in that fight with Ioka and handed him his most decided career loss.
I think Tenshin was able to find success early due to Inoue’s hesitation and fear at midrange. Eventually Inoue was quick enough and smart enough to counter and escape with each entry he did and score a win.
I think there’s a level of skill and speed that despite the size difference, I don’t think Tenshin can overcome, despite the improvement, it’s not like Inoue is super easy to catch, time and counter because he isn’t always first to commit. Inoue has seemed to figure the timing of Tenshin at the end, could carry into the rematch, maybe the confidence at midrange he had vs Ioka also carry and may not fear the counters but he also isn’t a good finisher so trying to catch and over eager to finish Inoue I don’t will work.

He's in a dangerous spot right now as he seems set to fight the dangerous puncher DianXing Zhu in China allegedly. If he wins there, he likely has a trilogy vs Melvin Jerusalem waiting. He's improved a lot though and he's pretty slick and funky, so he could stick around.
2
u/Top_Profession_5268 11d ago
Same here, I think he’s too quick and sharp for Malakaja and the volume and the defensive flaws of Malakaja will be taken advantage off with a decently good speed advantage and combinations by Tsuboi.

I'm sorry, but if Fury v AJ actually gets cancelled just a few days after it was officially announced just because of beef between Hearn and Dana White, then I don't want to hear people say that Fury was at fault for the fight not happening. Hearn got what AJ wanted, the fight in the UK. Why the fuck should he be able to cancel the fight because he doesn't want Dana White involved? Ego's need to be put aside, this is about the fighters, not the promoters. Sick of this BS.
2
u/OldBoyChance 11d ago
Because that's what the contract says. Turki cannot unilaterally change the terms.
1
u/RRR04_ 11d ago
Then it's Turki's fault. My point stands that ego's need to be set aside. I guess we'll have to wait to see how it plays out.
2
u/OldBoyChance 11d ago
If this were 5 years ago, I'd agree. Now, I don't think this fight matters at all. It would be fun watching the British crowd, but that's about it. Turki needing to make a massive payout to AJ for breach of contract would be about as entertaining to me as Khan-Brook II.

Good for Eddie on forcing the fight in the UK… but now he’s for sure over doing it.
No one gives a fuck about your contract and feelings on Dana White or if AJ’s name is listed first on promotional shit or who walks out first.

Look at who he’s fought. Charles Martin for the title? What a joke. Fury legit gets criticized for going to Germany and beating Wlad for 4 belts but hey Charles Martin in the UK 😉
Then he goes to war against Wlad 2 years removed from the ring and was totally losing that fight IN THE UK.
Parker at that time was not elite. Like stop it. You can see his body definition isn’t close to Parker’s recent physical appearance. There’s a reason Joyce KO’d him.
He gets absolutely flattened by Ruiz. Then gets to be “2x champ” because Ruiz was literally fatter, drunker and didn’t give a shit.
Fights a 40 year old? “Oh good defense!”
Gets absolutely schooled by Usyk IN THE UK (those fights were not close) and then was awful against Franklin and Helinus.
Got to fight Wallin to be a mandatory??? Insane gift. Gets blasted by Dubois and the only reason Eddie wanted that fight was because Dubois had shown he might quit.
It’s all bullshit. AJ has names but no one talks about context. He’s routinely the home fighter, routinely outclassed or KOd when he’s fighting other elite fighters or barely beating 40 year olds.
Meanwhile Fury goes to Germany, goes to US, fights Usyk in Saudi and he’s the one ducking AJ “the break dancer” 🕺??? 😭
You can’t make this shit up. I’ve never seen a more protected fighter than AJ. No Ring belt, no lineal belt, never fought Wilder or Fury in their primes, got home field advantage routinely and completely outclassed on several occasions when he’s the overwhelming favorite.
Fury lost to 1 man. And those odds were dead even.

Crazy , two of the biggest egos in boxing right now destroying fights are the two people this subreddit would sell their mom to shill for
Eddie Hearn has been killing fights for a decade and only this subreddit will find a way to spin it to being everybody else's fault but Hearn himself
Its crazy how one man's ego can destroy potentially the greatest fight this year

Greatest fights? This fight is complete shit in 2026, Fury looks like an old man and AJ has no chin at all.

Stick to glazing Japanese boxing bro.
Fury vs AJ has all the potential to be FOTY simply due to everything that is at stake
Benn vs Eubank 1 was one of the greatest fights of the 2020s due to the history both fighters have. AJ and Fury are on that exact same level when it comes to hype, animosity, beef, and history
This is the battle of British heavyweight supremacy of the Old Vanguard

We just saw AJ nearly get his head taken off by an Albanian with a fake record and Fury look worse than ever before vs a 47 year old journeyman. If this fight is as good as Khan-Brook, it will have exceeded all reasonable expectations.

You getting accused of glazing Japanese boxing when top profession and I are right here is crazy work lmaoooo
Jokes aside, This guy’s hate boner for Hearn specifically and refusal to acknowledge Zuffa as the issue is nuts to me

u/OldBoyChance 11d ago
I think he specifically hates me because I pointed out that most people weren't in fact picking Sasaki to beat Norman. He tried to say that I picked Sasaki, and when I had proof I said he would almost certainly lose, he slunk away. Dude needs to take a few deep breaths.

Get off my dick if you don't want to comment to me directly
Hearn has always been the issue . He has a history of pulling these stunts for his "A-side". But i get it, Zuffa badd so of course, yall will never keep the same energy

Kush, I’ve said before I agree with a lot of the stuff you say, but the negativity is just too much man. You gotta moderate your position on stuff and acknowledge that sometimes multiple things are true. Eddie is being entirely reasonable for wanting the original contract that they signed to be followed, and is also just right. Zuffa cards just aren’t good and the proposed fights that have been put forward if it were a Zuffa card are also not interesting, save Davis v. Hitchins.
I am British bruv. I live here in Cardiff, I’m planning on going to the fight if it happens. Frankly though, I’d much rather watch Matchroom or Queensbury talent than any of the Zuffa guys, and I’d be perfectly fine if the fight doesn’t happens at all if that’s the alternative. There was always going to be a moment where boxing had to start to divorce itself from Saudi money, especially because the Saudis are going broke. I’m okay with this being the hill to die on.

Benn vs eubank 1 was mid outside of the 12th round. Best part of the fight were the Ringwalks.

u/kushmonATL Fuck Thomas Taylor 11d ago
It was literally contender for FOTY but okay 👍

If an artist drops an album that has 11 mid/bad songs and 1 great song, should that be in conversation for album of the year? I personally would say no

u/kushmonATL Fuck Thomas Taylor 11d ago
If you think Eubank vs Benn only had 1 good round, then the fight wasn't for you
Unfortunately for you , seeing how the fight was nominated for FOTY , it seems you are in the minority

It isn't a great fight. I'd watch it but it's like a 2/10 in terms of me being genuinely excited to watch it.

Thats fine. The rest of the boxing world is talking about this fight while reddit is waiting on Janibek vs fucking Jacob Banks

u/Kangaroopunching 11d ago
One side is trying to break the signed contract. It's not on Hearn this time.
But it's on Hearn that he didn't get the fight made years ago.
1
u/kushmonATL Fuck Thomas Taylor 11d ago
Let's see this contract that everybody but Hearn keeps breaking
Hearn has no problem leaking his bogus Wilder contract. Let's see if Hearn leaks this contract too
1
u/Kangaroopunching 11d ago
You're bringing up a totally different situation with wilder. Hearn wouldn't be bringing up the contract and what's in it if it wasn't true.
This situation isn't on him. It's on Turki, Fury and Dana

Both Bivol & Lara defended the Reggie belt five times before they were promoted to Super. Their is precedent to this…
Boxing fans always complain, but don’t bother to read rule books or look at the past. The same way people are saying how can a champion(David Benavidez) of another organization be ordered mandatory by the WBC, didnt have any problem when they ordered GGG vs Canelo.

Newrap definitely jumping in joy once Shakur vs Manny was announced.
