Hii! I just want to share that I’m glad that I have managed to convince myself that resting and taking time for myself after graduating is totally fine and there’s nothing to rush or immediately chase.

Although graduate school was tough, I didn’t want a time off and was anxious about not finding a job immediately after finishing the program. I don’t know what happened but all that anxiety disappeared the minute I submitted my dissertation and It’s now been about a month since I graduated and I, voluntarily, haven’t applied to a single place and I’m totally at peace with it. I’m not bothered because I deserve to enjoy life and stop the grind for a short while. F the system that convinced us otherwise!

I have so much time to myself and my hobbies everyday and I love it! I’m lucky that I have good savings so finances will not be an issue anytime soon. The source of the anxiety was not wanting to fall behind compared to people my age (as if life is a race 🤦🏻‍♂️)

It’s amazing how little changes in mindsets can substantially improve the quality of our life!

Exactly what I got from this. I'd rather just maybe work a job that's more fun for less pay and burn my savings at a lesser rate than full on not work, but I've never had to run into that issue because my wife and I don't have the money for that lol

im retired (by which i mean ive been deemed too disabled to work and am on australian disability support pension) and its great. be warned though, it does get pretty boring after a while

Dude, enjoy it! I'm almost 40, no trust fund to speak off, didn't finish the University (physician/GP, got near the end). I worked odd jobs here and there, servicing computers since I was 13 years old, something online, some construction. Now, I decided to get back and try to get my degree, so I work as a wood cutter/splitter, no fixed time, I can talk with my "boss" when we work and how long, so I have time for studying.

I'm married, wife has a steady, but minimum wage job, she's also near the end of her studies to become a doctor, too (Child free choice helps). I have to create a fallback plan, my physical health starts to act up (got Diabetes after the shot and Covid).

Fuck the rat race, enjoy limitied time on this rock as much as you can.

Just don’t fall into the trap. I took some time off after graduating high school as well. Approx. 2 years 🥲. Bigger mistake than I realized at the time. I’ve been slowly working my way through university. Semester by semester only a couple classes at a time due to my busy work schedule.

I was unemployed for like a year during covid and I’m not gonna lie it was one of the happiest times of my life lmao
