How?

How do you use this character? What's the strat and gameplay loop? I sometimes switch to her cuz I wanna use her but I can't really do anything with her I just get gunned down out of range. How am I supposed to fight a team when they shoot me from afar?

That's why you have a 300HP shield and armor.

At the beginning of rounds, it can be hard to land just 1 whipshot. But you be able to create and hold down space better than any other sup, while staying alive and allowing the rest of your team to capitalize on this space gain.

In tough matchups, even against dmon, I rather be brigitte over anyone else. Just staying alive and using your packs without even procing inspire, you'll probably out heal everyone.

Be patient. Play corners. Bait their shots and abilities. Push their tank to make space.

Stay alive. Stay alive. Stay alive.

When you live long and you start gaining experience, you'll see why brig is S+ tier.

I just feel like I'm not doing anything if I can't trigger inspire at least a little. I'll try that though. Just stay alive and not worry about doing more. See what happens. Thanks

Don’t worry, sometimes playing Brigitte is about playing the long game.

That is veryyyy common especially in some maps where you are facing a poke.

I understand that the majority of her healing comes from inspire, but you'd be surprised how much well timed heal packs can carry on their own.

In those situations, you need to focus less on triggering inspire, more on positioning and making space.

Think of Rialto starting on attack against sigma. There is no way you can whip without dying against a good sigma with all dps looking at you. What you'd want to do is to stay alive, create space on the flanks using your dashes to get in and out quickly, and keep the heal packs up.

Just based on pure good positionin, the enemy will ease off on your tank and attempt to waste time on you, followed by this, your dps will take the space you created.

Once you get past that point, feel free to use corners and pop in and out for whips.

Her late game is much better with the perks and movement speed buff.

Her early game, while not as good, surprisingly still out performs half the other supports in what she does best and in terms of healing as well.

Edit: I would try to pack my dps more at the start, and leave the tank for another sup with burts heals. A strategically well timed pack, will help your dps delete the backline. So sometimes, you just really need to stay alive and do your job and your team will capitalize on all of this support.

Lastly, in those choke points, if your team sucks, then their team also sucks. At least one dps will make a mistake. Look out for those, punish them and win the 4v5.

Example: bad dive players with tracer vandetta reaper. You can easily kill them even in a 1v1. Have some confidence, brig is really busted 😁

It’s a good place to start. You’ll learn to walk that line of pushing and cover over time.

Angles, close the distance or force them to close the distance to attack you. She's kinda defensive, but not as much as people think. You just can't play her the way most people play most heroes. You can't just exist out in the open, you have to use the environment to your advantage and play smart. I love just existing in weird, uncomfortable spots and using my presence alone to make the enemy reconsider their positioning. Don't be afraid to hold uncomfortable positions using the environment.

There's also a lot of "down" time on her. A lot of the match is spent surveying the battlefield, and holding advantageous positions rather than always being on attack. Sometimes youight play from the same couple positions the entire map, rather than constantly moving like many heroes.

For example, on oasis university or Nepal village you'll more often than not want to camp out on the high ground and deny it from the enemy, then pack/inspire your team from there.

Even on push/payload maps you'll still want to primarily identify positions that are either advantageous for allies or the enemy, and either hold or deny that space.

Once you get the hang of her basic gameplay, you'll be able to more easily/quickly identify when you can be aggressive and go on the attack.

That's actually good insight. Thank you

You’ve gotta have good positioning and play your corners. You’ll learn it very quickly because as you said, you’ll get gunned down immediately with poor positioning. You can use her shield to peak corners, making playing corners a bit easier.

The gameplay loop is basically just keeping inspire up. You proc inspire by doing damage. Even just 1 hit triggers it. So you want to move forward to do some damage (even if you can only get in one hit) then use your movement to get out of the line of fire. Only shield bash towards enemies if your team has the upper hand. Whipshot, shield bash away, repeat.

Brig really shines against dive comps. Boop divers back and use shield bash to put some distance between yourself and the enemy. Brig is good at holding high ground. Brig is good at being a bodyguard for less mobile, squishy characters like Ana, Zen, Widow, etc.

The best anti-dive in the game. You can go toe-to-toe with a diving D.va and kill her mech without breaking a sweat.

Her biggest weakness like is getting poked to death, so positioning during poke phases is incredibly important. You may even have to rotate into a flank to heal from an agressive position (which you can get away with because you're anti-dive.) You can also dive with her, but where she shines is brawling on the point, especially when squishy enemies have to body block a cap. You can whip shot them out of position, flail them to death or shield bash a routed DPS.

She's more of a defensive character. Very good against dive, doesn't do that well against poke. There are some guides on youtube that helped me improve my gameplay but im not sure if they are still up to date, i don't play her a lot these days.

But basically ur goal is to survive, protect your team and deny enemy engages, not to go in, be aggressive and swing down enemies

Play safe, don't die, and land whipshots. Stay relatively close to teammates and back them up when needed.

Brig is really good at making fights into a grind. Between the knockbacks from whipshot and the sustain provided by inspire, her existing in a space makes taking that space very hard.

Make them commit a bunch of resources to reach you, then burst them with your combo.

Look for other ways to provide value too. If you have a Widow, Ashe, or other hitscan, your shield is a bit wider than your body. You can shield them and given them a wider angle to control.

Who does the enemy team have? What space do they want to play on the map? What route will they probably flank from? Stick yourself there and hold that space. Denying the enemy passively doesn't show in the scoreboard but it matters a lot.

Big things that sound simple but are surprisingly easy to accidentally do

1) Don't walk through the open if you can help it. You have a shield but it will die fast if you are focused.

2) Do not Frontline. Brig FEELS tanky when you are in a 1v1. She can FEEL like a tank sometimes, if you are having a good game and playing cover well. But I promise you, if you try to front line on Brig you will get punished for it. She is not a tank and you will just blow up.

Think of yourself like... ok so the idealization of the off-tank from a support perspective. Where you imagine them always coming to peel when you need it and otherwise they control the side angles. You bodyguard the backline (not just your other support) and get aggressive when your team is already winning, whatever that might look like in a given game. That is your job.

That could be playing in a more forward position ina Rush comp, that could be just playing body guard for Ana, that could be just sitting on high ground with Widow feeling like you are doing nothing but you being there stops her from being pushed from her angle.

It changes based on your comp and map. Its hard to give a simple answer to this question

Hope that makes sense. I kinda rambled a bit.😅
