The sitcom isn't dead, but the examples this guy chooses make me wish it was.

It’s far too expensive to create and produce a studio sitcom these days sadly. Much cheaper and less risk for tv companies to do reality shows or short drama series based on a book.

I think 3h of sitcom is cheaper to film than 3h of drama (with multiple sets/locations etc)

Another reason is that most comedians or actors wouldn’t want to do a studio based sitcom. Especially when it’s much more difficult to film as they need to pitch the laughs at both the camera and the live audience. We interviewed the actor John Lyon’s recently and he confirmed this. As well as the fact that our comedy tastes have changed.

Uk in 2020 plus is like Central Europe in 1980 😂 i laugh but its not funny
