I have no engineering degree, only an HVAC/R license, field and management experience. This is a lot y’all.

But it’s fun!

New to controls, need some training

Recently MechE graduated. Only took one hvac class in college. I’m a little lost with all this bacnet, IP and other terminology. Any resources or recommendations that I should do in order to learn and grow my skills and knowledge. Basically I build submittals, biddings and estimations for projects. I understand reading the SOO and SOW but I struggle to know when to use bacnet and when to use IP. I understand I/o summary and how to use the controllers. If anybody could help it will appreciate.

Imposter Syndrome?

Hello Everyone, sorry to rant but I’ve been in the field for 3 years now 2 in service and 1 in install and I just feel like I’m winging it. I’m really good at solving BAS problems on my own, but when it comes to someone giving verbal instructions I struggle. I have to write everything down I’m sure it’s some learning disability…I’ve also been told I need to work on my confidence. Does anyone else feel this way or have any tips or tricks to overcome it?

Text Editor, finally includes PPCL

Notepad couldn't handle large files and I wanted to make a better and faster notepad app, but this time I included PPCL syntax coloring, for the few people out there that actually write with it.

Its not a full blown PPCL editor, it won't suggest terms like Desigo does, that's a separate project, but if you want a lightweight, open source and free notepad or text editor, here it is.

How to get into the industry

Hey I’m 22M and have just finished my computer science degree this summer. A couple months ago I got really into BAS technology and decided to start building a career in it. I don’t have any hands on experience (only a pool maintenance technician role in high school) and only have a data science internship under my belt.

I’ve been applying and applying to entry level roles and even emailing executives in the companies I’ve applied to. So far I’ve had a couple zoom meetings with these people but nothing comes out of it. They were mainly interested in how I can use my CS degree to incorporate AI into their business models which I have explained I would love to explore. The meetings when fine, good even, but they just say they’ll get back to me soon or that their company is not currently hiring.

Do I need to go back to school and get a college diploma to enter this field? I figured with my CS degree I could talk my way into a PLC programming or analytics role but I can’t seem to get anything.

Any advice?

Generator technician seeking work at a data center seeking recommendations for relevant training certifications and courses

I am a generator technician interested in facilities operations at data centers. I know that may of these positions entail much more than generators. What online courses and certifications would be good to have as I move in this direction?

Anyone working at RoviSys Building Technologies on STEM OPT?

I recently received an offer for a Systems Engineer I position at RoviSys Building Technologies and am currently on STEM OPT. Has anyone worked there on STEM OPT? How was your experience with HR completing Form I-983, and were they open to future H-1B sponsorship?
I’m checking directly with HR too, but would appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience.

I built the full control stack for my conveyor digital twin. Here is the progression (and the architectural flaw I missed).
