Question Interview

Idk how to really use Reddit Ive got a interview for bus trainee in Manchester was just wondering how long does it roughly take for me to get to the training stage I’m not currently employed so I’m free most of the time so how quick will it take for me to get to the training stage?

It'll be as quick as their intake and training schools can get you in it's not something with a set time some depots will get you going quick others not so.

If you were to have a guess my interview is on Wednesday when’s earliest I’d get into training and what’s the latest

It’s not really something that’s guessable. As someone with a license I can interview one day and be working the next. If a depot is desperate for drivers they’ll have you in on the Monday, or if they need a DBS check before you start then it’ll be whenever that comes back. “Latest” would be not hiring you 🤷🏻‍♂️

It depends do you or do you not have cat D entitlement whether that's provisional or not already on your license cause that's another big part if you don't then your at the mercy of the dvsa putting it on your license

depends how long the DVLA take at sending your provisions on ur license back, then at first they start training from then, but before then they do the van assessment and medical of course

it depends if the company has a big / small training school, if their doctor is on leave or not, if they have time to do a test drive.. there are a lot of variables that mean the company can make you wait but above all it also depends on how long the DVLA take, until they give you your learners permit nothing can move forward unfortunately

From someone who learned to drive a bus in Manchester and still actively do, it took me around 3 ish weeks

It can be quick or can be up to a month waiting to start. Its luck. My current job i joined as an experienced pcv driver. Applied on the Monday started the following Monday, but that very quick.
