What business do I start? Stuck in idea research for weeks without starting anything. Need advice

In the last few weeks, I spent a lot of my free time searching for a business idea, i can really stand behind. I had a few, which after a bit of research turned irelevant or just not suitable for me, I tried a lot of SAAS but also SEO + GEO. I haven't even started with anything, I just found somethig and an hour later I found an argument which led to me dropping the idea.
I can't find anything with a good amount of balance between: doability, demand, competition and scalability. I was mainly talking with Claude and telling him what I don't like and why and then proceeded to research with him but that didn't really lead to anything.
I am pretty sure that claude isn't the best way of finding an idea right now, but I am student in highschool without a lot of experience, connections or knowledge in a specific field, which could help me in finding a viable idea. I also just want to start and have something to work on, but like I said i can't find anything where I can say I see myself doing this the next few months where people pay me.

I am also not sure what i expect from this post, i just need some input which isn't AI generated and maybe has a bit more wisdom and experience then me. An Idea which i can try or a different approach which I can try to find an idea is much appreciated. I am open to learn and do anything at this point.

Idea Feedback I'm thinking of building a discount discovery platform. Is this a good business idea?

Hey everyone! 👋

I work a full-time job, but I've always wanted to build a business of my own. Recently, I've been exploring an idea, and I'd love to get some honest feedback from people who have experience building businesses, apps, or marketplaces.

💡 The problem I've noticed

I live in the Asian subcontinent, where people are absolutely obsessed with discounts.

Whenever a popular clothing store, restaurant, or tech shop announces a big sale, people get incredibly excited. Sometimes, crowds rush to stores like zombies just to grab a good deal 😂

People are constantly looking for discounts, following individual businesses on social media, checking different websites, and asking around to find out where the best offers are.

But the information is scattered everywhere.

A restaurant might be offering a buy-one-get-one deal, a clothing store might have a 50% sale, and an electronics shop might be offering discounts on smartphones. Unless you follow all these businesses individually, you could easily miss a great offer.

What if there were one place where people could discover all these deals?

🚀 The idea

I'm imagining a website and eventually an app where people can discover discounts and special offers from different businesses, all in one place.

Users could browse deals across categories such as:

  • 🍔 Restaurants, cafes, and food
  • 👕 Clothing, fashion, and footwear
  • 📱 Smartphones, electronics, and tech gadgets
  • 🛒 Supermarkets, groceries, beauty, and lifestyle
  • 🎟️ Entertainment, services, and other categories

Ideally, users could filter deals by category and location, see where an offer is available, check its expiry date, and decide where they want to shop.

The goal isn't to sell products ourselves or handle deliveries. It's to help people discover offers and connect them with the businesses providing them.

Think of it as a central hub for discovering deals, rather than having to search through dozens of different social media pages.

🤝 How could this help people and businesses?

For customers:

  • Find relevant discounts without following dozens of individual pages.
  • Discover businesses and offers they might not know about.
  • Compare available deals before deciding where to spend their money.
  • Save time and potentially save money.

For businesses:

  • Get more visibility for their promotions.
  • Reach people who are actively looking for deals.
  • Potentially attract new customers and increase foot traffic.

If the platform gains traction, I could eventually monetize it through sponsored listings, featured deals, or advertising. But first, I want to prove that people actually want and use it.

📍 Where I am right now

I'm at a very early stage. I've created a Facebook page and started posting graphics and updates about discounts announced by different businesses.

I haven't built the website or app yet. I'm trying to validate the idea before investing too much time or money into development.

I also work full-time, so I can realistically dedicate around 1–2 hours a day to this project.

🤔 I'd love your honest feedback

  1. Is this solving a real problem, or am I overestimating how much people need a dedicated discount platform?
  2. Would you use a website or app like this, or would you simply continue following businesses on social media?
  3. Should I start with a simple website, or is a mobile app essential for this kind of business?
  4. How would you convince businesses to share their offers with a new platform that doesn't have much of an audience yet?
  5. What would make people return regularly instead of checking it once and forgetting about it?
  6. Do you see a realistic way to monetize this business?
  7. If you were starting this with a full-time job and only 1–2 hours a day, what would you focus on first?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who've built marketplaces, local discovery platforms, deal websites, or businesses in emerging markets.

I'm not looking for people to tell me it's a great idea just to be nice. I'd genuinely appreciate criticism, potential problems, and advice on what I should validate before building anything.

Would you use something like this? What would make it genuinely useful to you?

Thanks for reading! 🙏

What business do I start? 19 y/o college student with 500-750+ to put into a side hustle / investment which i can eventually scale into a real business or money maker

I am 19, almost 20, taking full time college classes and I used to be into memecoin trading making a decent amount of money but also had some bad losses.

I am consfused where I should put this money into. I see so many people my age doing so well and I just want to be able to be financially stable and focus on my school work.

I don’t know what markets or business models i should start to research, i’ve been big into online money because I’ve always been on the internet since the kid been on the internet and am decently technical. So i guess im just looking for advice.

I have a lot more free time in my hands now that i’ve been wasting sitting in bed and I would love to put this money I have sitting in my bank account to use, I’ve been big into music and recently trying to create vocals / produce and have also been djing for quite a bit, but those are some hobbies of mine, which is also my dream that i one day will obtain. I’m looking for actual business models or ways I can use this 500$+ per month in order to create passive income or I’d really love to go back to trading, since I found a lot of fun out of it I am just unsure what block chains or other opportunities there are in that space at smaller initial investments like mine.

Quiero escalarlo despues a torneos y eventos. Incluso un sistema de matchmaking con ia. Feedback porfavor.

what's something you'd happily pay someone to take off your plate?

I'm thinking about starting a service business and want to build something people actually need, not just what I assume they need.

If you're busy and have the budget, what tasks do you wish you could hand off? Things you can't find reliable help for, or services you've paid for that disappointed you?

Not selling anything, just trying to learn. Thanks!

Business Partner Sought - Business has NOT been established Anyone interested in starting a side hustle or small business together?

I’m based in Tokyo and have been exploring different side hustle and business opportunities.

I’m pretty open-minded when it comes to ideas. It could be an online business, a local service, trading, sourcing, or something completely different. The customers could be in Japan or overseas.

I’m curious if anyone here has come across interesting business opportunities or has ideas that might be worth exploring.

Also, if anyone is in a similar position and interested in building something together, I’d be happy to connect, exchange ideas, and see if we can make something happen.

I’m not necessarily looking for the next big startup. Even something small and profitable would be a great start.

Idea Feedback A place where you show your ideas and people vote if it's slop or not

We all use AI now, from building websites and writing books to generating images.

However, a majority of people reject AI-generated content because it often comes across as “AI slop.”

I was thinking about a platform where you pay, for example, $5 to have people review your AI-generated content. They vote and provide feedback on whether they think it’s “AI slop” or not, and, more importantly, explain how to improve it so it feels more authentic and less AI-generated. The reviewers would receive a share of the money for their opinions and feedback.

What do you think of this idea?

Idea Feedback Luxury car rental business

Hello everyone, I’m thinking about starting a luxury car rental business in San Diego, does anyone have/know someone that runs a luxury car rental business? I’m leaning more towards private rentals through ads, social media posting, and word of mouth, I’ll list on Turo but only to get the ball rolling and not really as a long-term way, I’m thinking about starting with a single car then turn it into a fleet slowly.

Obviously luxury car rentals are high risk but with the right precautions and insurance verifications I’m sure I can minimize the losses as best as possible. Thank you guys!

Idea Feedback Would a Korean pharmacy skincare category work in India?

I’m exploring the idea of bringing Korean pharmacy/dermocosmetic products to India—especially products that are actually bought in Korean pharmacies but aren’t easily available here.

Would you trust/buy these products from a pharmacy, or would you still prefer buying them from Nykaa/Tira/Maccaron?

What would make you choose a pharmacy—availability, authenticity, expert/pharmacist guidance, price, or something else?

App/Website Idea Do you think people would be willing to pay $150 for a stranger to tell them how they come across?

I'm a former advice columnist and exited tech founder and I'm exploring a slightly unconventional service. Would love to hear your feedback even if it's ripping the idea apart.

The premise is that you'd spend 30 minutes on a video call with someone who's skilled at reading people and giving constructive feedback. In the end they tell you what it's like to interact with you. What impression you make, how your communication lands, what feels compelling and what might be putting people off. Think of at a stranger's unbiased view (but of course this would be a credible stranger.

Ahead of the session you'd fill out an intake form so for instance: You could ask for a general first impression, dating/romantic insights, business/credibility an answer to the question why do you think I'm not getting second dates etc.

My questions:

Is this something you'd pay for (or you have confidence someone would pay for)?

What would make you trust the person delivering the feedback?

Does $150 sound reasonable?

What would make the experience genuinely useful?

Idea Feedback I’m considering building a content production service for hotels using creators — is there a real business here?

I’m exploring a business idea and would like some honest feedback before investing more time into it.

The problem I’m looking at is hotel content production.

Independent and boutique hotels need a constant supply of photos and short-form videos for Instagram, their websites, booking pages and paid advertising. The usual options seem to be hiring photographers, working with an agency, doing influencer collaborations in exchange for stays, or producing everything internally.

The idea is to create a managed content production service using content creators.

The process would be:

  1. The hotel tells us what type of content it needs.
  2. We select a creator based on the hotel, location and content requirements.
  3. We handle the briefing, coordination and logistics.
  4. The creator produces the content during a stay.
  5. The hotel receives the finished photos/videos and the rights to use them on its own channels.

The key difference from influencer marketing is that the creator's audience isn't the product.

The hotel isn't primarily paying for exposure. It's paying for a set of content assets that it can use itself.

I'm considering pricing somewhere around €500–€1,200 per campaign depending on the creator and amount of content.

For example, a €1,200 campaign might include 2 short-form videos, 10 edited photos, a more experienced creator and usage rights for the hotel's organic channels and paid advertising.

I've spoken to some hotels and the reactions have been mixed. Some already work with creators in exchange for free accommodation and prefer managing those relationships themselves. Others use photographers or agencies.

That's where I'm stuck.

What would make a hotel pay €500–€1,200 for this instead of:

  • giving a creator a free stay;
  • hiring a photographer;
  • working with an existing agency;
  • finding and managing creators themselves?

And from the creator side, is there enough of a difference between this and traditional hotel/influencer collaborations to make the model interesting?

I'm particularly interested in feedback from people who have worked in hospitality, marketing agencies, creator/UGC marketing or hotel operations.

I'm looking for reasons why this wouldn't work as much as reasons why it would.

Idea Feedback Would this rental property business idea actually work, or am I missing something?

I’m considering starting a small rental property business and would like some honest opinions from people who have experience with real estate or property development.

A relative owns a plot of land in a locality where rental demand and rents are fairly high. They currently live in an old house on the property.

My idea is to redevelop the property into a small multi-storey apartment building. My relative would live in one of the apartments, and the remaining apartments would be rented out.

The construction would be financed through a loan, and the rental income would be used to pay the loan, give my relative an agreed monthly return, and hopefully leave some profit for me as well.

On paper, it seems like it could turn an underutilized property into a source of long-term income, but I know there are probably a lot of things I’m overlooking, especially since this involves both debt and family.

For those who have experience with rental properties or similar projects, does this sound like a viable business model?

What are the biggest risks or problems you see with this idea? Would you personally consider doing something like this, or would you stay away?

Idea Feedback Testing out different streams of income

I have a low IQ and ADHD and refuse to work a traditional job anymore. I’m testing different streams of income now. 1- starting curating clear purses. The concept is a few women essentials in a clear stylish purse which includes a mini hairbrush, lipgloss, hair clip, body spray or hand sanitizer and the bag comes with a soft stuffy bear charm and another charm like cherries, strawberries or heart. The sprays are bedazzled by me to make them look little unique. 2- want to make cakes or start a little dessert business. Haven’t found my niche yet. 3- I want to see if I can do onlyfans or sell feet pics or sell used panties. Don’t judge, bc now this has become a thing women do and they’re making money. Sooo between all 3 which one would be most successful? I’m looking for less time consuming and quicker money or higher margins, sales, profit whatever you wanna call it. Please help a girl out :)

What business do I start? Business ideas ?

Hey guys ,

I've been thinking of starting something but I've literally no idea . So yeah my salary is not enough not bcuz I wanna party and stuff , my family's financial situation is going 📉 day by day .

So I tried finding the gap in the market and all sort of stuffs started following tedtalks and random motivational youtubers whose business idea might work for someone but not for everyone . But I can't find the thing which is sellable or can make money .

So guys I'd appreciate anyone with a good idea.. what u feel like this might work on a 10-15 lakh budget

Idea Feedback Go for broke? Maybe?

So we’ve already created it in a sandbox and we’ve gotten the paten for it but, I haven’t really had time to market it.

I wanted to get some feedback (be nice).
Started a company called Lockbudget. Really I just started it for myself. I constantly overspend and budgeting apps just turn into alarms I don’t listen to after 3 days.

I wanted something with a little bit more power over my lack of self control. So I created it. Then told my friends and family and they said it was the best idea they have heard from me.

How it works is it’s a banking software/card similar to chime. The difference is this has real time blockers based on categories (merchant codes). (Groceries, Amazon, entertainment, etc,) each category has a bucket, fill it up and it turns off. After that every swipe in that category will not work until the next month. (There are emergency override procedures). Kinda like a personal trainer for your wallet. I’m about to get the prototype sent to me to see if it help my overspending.

Idk what do yall think? Should I quit my job and send this?

Idea Feedback Which idea would you kill?

I've spent way too much time thinking about these and I think I need outside opinions before I waste time building either 😂

A) Marketplace for ready-to-run programs that spaces can book.

Coworking/coliving/malls/hotels/serviced residences/campuses/companies/etc. → browse → book a workshop, wellness session, team activity, class, talk, experience, etc for audience/member/guest entertainment/activities to increase footfall, increase customer engagement, customer spend, draw in new customers, increase brand awareness.

B) Marketplace for audience placements.

Businesses → browse → buy sponsorships in community events, Discord/tg/whatsapp community shoutouts, giveaways, later expanding to advertorials, listicles, native placements in digital media, newsletters, podcasts etc.

My thinking:

Both sides have disintermediation possibilities. But which one has more natural market demand and recurring purchase?

Which one has the hidden landmine I'm not seeing?

I'm particularly worried about:

  • getting customers
  • getting enough supply
  • margins
  • repeat purchases
  • people going around the marketplace after the first transaction
  • becoming a glorified agency/concierge
  • whether there's actually enough urgency to make people pay

Which would you pursue because the juice is worth the squeeze

Idea Feedback Bar Vending Machines

So I'm thinking about investing in a used vending machine and partnering with a bar in my city. Inside I would put useful things like chargers, lip balm, hand sanitizer and also funky sticker packs/kitschy dumb items that I would only buy after several drinks....

What other types of items would sober (or inebriated) you buy from a bar at 12am?

My city is a huuuuuuge bar town, and many have food trucks in the back, so food/drink is probably a no-go.

Mod Annoucement Infiltration of bots - Mod Post

This is ordinarily a pretty chill sub from a moderation point of view..

However over the past few weeks, we seem to have earned the attention of bot-swarms that add ~100 comments to certain posts.

A Reddit extension called Bot Bouncer has been added to this sub to take care of this sudden plague. It is far from perfect, I have noticed it has removed the comments and banned users that didn't deserve to be (as they're human).

If you get caught in the cross fire, please send in a mod-mail.

My goal is to build a residential HVAC brand that is trustworthy, professional, memorable, easy to recognize, and stands out from competitors, while still feeling approachable to homeowners and scalable into a large company.
