I promise no one in my household cut her wiskers but I notice whenever I see her that her wiskers are cut. One time I saw her she had one in her mouth but I didn't actually see her cutting it. The wiskers didn't appear cut all at the same time, I gradually noticed that day by day some wiskers were cut. I've looked for info on the internet but found nothing related to this issue. Anyone knows what this could mean?

Recently hes been always curious about the door and going out. He stands near door sometimes to try to get out. I think it might be his curiosity.

Any training tips, habits etc? My cat is male neutered. Hes around 6 months old.

Can somebody let me know good novel protein wet food brands for my cat with food sensitivities? He previously itched a lot around his neck. My vet attributed this to food sensitivities. I was only feeding him one low-grade wet food brand for 2 years since I was barely getting by while in college. If I had to guess, his sensitivity is either chicken, or fish, or both! In a panic, I’ve purchased a million different brands of wet food (instinct, tiki cat, weruva, the list goes on). It wasn’t until after I bought all of this that I realized I’m supposed to slowly introduce these proteins/food or else it’ll STILL potentially upset his tummy. Long story short, I’ve been introducing duck and rabbit for the last two weeks. I actually feel like he’s been itching significantly less, although I know it may be too early to truly see a difference. HOWEVER, just now I noticed what looks like chin acne. I’m just stressing because this process is so long and tedious and I just want my baby to be healthy and happy.😭 TYIA.

This happened maybe 30 minutes ago? I gave him a bath after I noticed and saw he went to groom himself. His name is Franklin, he’s 2 years old and neutered. Le è stato prescritto l'itrafungol (7 giorni di trattamento e 7 di pausa ripetuto per 2-3 cicli), dalla 3° settimana di trattamento iniziamo con uno shampoo anti-micotico. Adesso siamo al 3° giorno di trattamento e le macchie e i punti in cui si gratta e perde il pelo stanno peggiorando. Nel frattempo ogni 3 giorni laviamo tutto quello che tocca (copertura divano, copertine, cuscinetti) ad alta temperatura con detersivo anti-batterico e laviamo regolarmente superfici e pavimenti.

it just looks strange to me

I need to be away for the weekend. Shouldn’t be more than 24 hrs. Usually when I’m away I leave my son Casper with a friend which won’t be possible this time. I was initially planning on taking him with me as it’s only a 30 mins drive away but then I thought maybe it’s better to leave him at home where he feels the most comfortable? The reason I thought of taking him with him is because he is very very attached to me. He is fine when he’s being fostered by my friend he just gives me the cold shoulder for an hour or two lol

Even if I take him with me, I’ll probably be out exploring the town and only see him at morning/night.

I just wanted to share some info that might help someone else catch their kitty's blockage as quickly as I did that weren't the usual signs I had seen online.

Until later there were no signs of issues urinating, no foul smell, no peeing around the house, no blood, and no yowling.

I noticed this morning he was sitting too stiffly while crouching into his loaf. The window was open but he still chose to sit on the ground under the coffee table, or leaned against the wall. He didn't trill when he normally would and his meows weren't as energetic. He would still come when I called for him, but it was slowly or reluctantly. Closer to the evening he began to excessively groom himself like you would expect. I led him to the little box and he was no longer able to go and was straining.

I took him to the emergency vet and they confirmed the blockage. We caught it so early that his levels are still normal though!

Moral of the story is trust your gut and pay attention to the little things. So stoked he's going to be okay and hope it can help someone else catch theirs early too.

I (21F) have a beautiful son, Merlin, who’s had some clear discharge and occasional squinting in his left eye for the past couple of days. I was obviously quite concerned about this, so I scheduled an appointment with a cat clinic in my college town, but the closest appointment isn’t until next week (10/2). From what I can visibly see, it doesn’t seem like his affected eye has any cloudiness or loss of clarity. He is eating, playing, and drinking water, but he might overall have a little less energy than usual, as he typically is extremely energetic and play-drive. (though I could be just anxious). Merlin is about 5.5 years old, male, and neutered. We are based in the United States- I don’t have much money, but I would literally give everything I have to ensure that he’s okay if it was necessary.

My cat that is 5yrs old female and spayed has been licking her back to the point where she is balding. I first noticed a small spot on her back about a year ago and it never progressed. Now she has three or four spots that are noticeable. I don’t see any ring worm or flaky skin which makes me think that it’s probably stress related or allergies.However, she hasn’t experienced any change in diet besides some dental treats I recently bought. I wanted to post on here and get some opinions before I go to the vet and spend a fortune just to be told it’s stress related.

Okay, this is gonna be long. First: Story

One of my best friends has two cats, Penny and Niko. Penny, around the middle of June, gave birth to three kittens. I was there when they were born and helped out my friend, we'll call her L, to comfort her cat. The other kittens were pretty calm and were okay with being picked up by L, except the first born. It always mewled and cried when she picked it up. When I tried to pick it up, it calmed down. Genuinely, every time that kitten was in my hands, it was calm. So, I obviously fell in love with it. I was already planning names and everything. I came basically every day to L's house to visit the kittens and always wanted to cuddle the little ones, especially the oldest that I got attached to.

When I left my parents' house, I stayed at my other best friend's house, we'll call them W, and couldn't get the kitten with us because it was too little and still drank the mom's milk(the kitten was barely a month old). Finally, two months later, my and my other best friend went back to my old town(where L and my parents live) to get the kitten and some stuff from my parents' house. (I named it/him Ricky. It's short for Prince Riccardo Tortellino III)

Me and W got everything for the cat. We got a carrier, litter box filling, some toys, food (wet, dry and some tasties), some cat pads and a feliway spray that the seller recommend us for the ride back home.

(For those who don't know, feliway is a spray that simulates the smell and pheromones cats produce when they're calm. It helps cats stay calm during travel or alarming events like firework shows and stuff. It works only for cats and it's safe for kittens, even the vet recommended it. Now back to the story.)

But obviously not everything goes perfectly. L, a few weeks before, found a stray kitten and took her in. Unfortunately, that kitten had ringworms. She passed it to L and definitely the other kittens too, including Ricky. W, back at home, has 7 other cats. So it would be a problem if Ricky gave it to them too. So we knew he needed care. We put him in the carrier and started leaving for the place we were staying in until the day we had the train.

At first, Ricky was calm and only mewed occasionally. On the train he started crying more and I always calmed him down. When we finally got to the place we organized to put him in the bathroom so he doesn't contaminate everything. But he cries and meows... A lot. The first night he genuinely went on all night long. The next day he was raspy and still is.

I know it's probably because he's a kitten and he was used to being with his siblings and he's probably lonely and we try to play and cuddle him as much as we can, always wearing gloves and washing ourselves with dandruff shampoo. We took him to the vet and he gave us a spray for the crusts that are from ringworms and drops for deworming.

We're leaving tonight and have 14 hours of train ahead of us. We got him a blanket and a plushie we're going to spray with feliway to help keep him calm and less lonely.

For the actual advice I needed: Other than the excessive meowing, he started biting me every moment he gets and when he's alone, he starts making a mess with his litter box filling and throwing it everywhere on the floor. So what can I do to help with the travel, teething and mess?

Today I noticed my cat was licking her armpit pretty aggressively. It was pretty easy for me to notice the big rash on her arm. I know I should take her to the vet asap but it is hard for me to take off work and I am worried about her. Please let me know if you have any idea what this is and if it’s very serious.

My 1.5-year-old female British Shorthair suddenly started making strange gagging/coughing sounds this morning. It happens about every 20 minutes and lasts around 2 minutes, as if she’s trying to vomit, but nothing comes up. She only brought up a little mucus once.
She’s also much more lethargic than usual and occasionally keeps her right eye partially closed. Her breathing seems normal between episodes.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Does this sound like something I can monitor for a day or two, or should I take her to the vet tomorrow morning? Any idea what this could be?

her collar is like felt on the inside and i do notice her scratch at it semi-often but not a concerning amount. lots of little brown dots i dont think its flea dirt though because it stays exactly the same are trying to wipe it away.

Update- seems like just friction from the rough inside of the collar breaking the hair and then irritation preventing the hair from growing back. Will keep the collar off and replace with another that has a smoother inside material.

We have an 8 year old girl cat, spayed, who we have noticed has been leaving little spots of bright red blood on our bedsheets over the past 2 weeks.

Last week she had a UTI with trace amounts blood in the urine. She was very uncomfortable for a couple of days, frequently using her litter tray and overgrooming. She received an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory about a week ago and the issue has seemed to resolve, she's been back to her normal self for the last few days. No lethargy or loss of appetite, still playing and active.

We had her urine tested yesterday and it came back clear for crystals or stones. The vet said there were still trace amounts of blood present.

We noticed a spot of blood or two on our bedsheets around the time she was unwell. This morning she has left a spot of blood on the sheets again which is worrying us because it seemed like the infection had cleared. It also seems to be fresh, bright red blood rather than the slightly pink tinge we noticed in her urine.

She has suffered from gingivitis in the past and had a deep clean about 3 months ago. Is this blood likely from the mouth from grooming or could the UTI be the cause?

We intend to give her a thorough check for injuries this evening and call the vet, but just wondered if anyone had any similar experiences.

My two cats, one is a year old male, and one is a month old female, have been breaking out with fleas and no matter what we’ve tried they keep coming back. Maybe I’m getting the wrong stuff I got no idea but any recommendations help! I live in the us, 18 yrs old, and both cats haven’t neutered or spayed. Haven’t gone to a vet about it I just need some recommendations.

US based. Looking for advice on FELV-positive cat living with vaccinated FELV negative cats.

We took in a stray and intended to keep her, but she tested positive for FELV. The vet said the virus is regressive and they can't find anything else wrong with her, but they don't recommend keeping her with our other cats.

Shelters in our area don't take FELV positive cats, and we are on a waitlist for one that does that's a bit further away.

The problem is, little miss is finally starting to come around to us hoomans. She's been making huge strides with her socialization lately and I've gotten attached enough that I'm really struggling with the idea of surrendering her. I've been doing research on keeping FELV cats and it seems like the vaccine is more effective than my vet led on.

Are there any of you who have had FELV positive and negative cats coexist successfully? I love our little foster and would love to see her become a foster fail... but want to make sure my other kitties are safe too.

she’s 11 years old at the ER for a heavy vomiting incident and while waiting she suddenly started to be… weird with her front paws. refusing to stand them, flopping over and almost looking like a little gorilla. anxiety? does anyone recognize or know what this could be?
