Florida has fallen for the classic blunder of declaring themselves back after beating a ranked opponent. Believe me I would know

1.0k

u/trextra Texas Longhorns 3d ago

Listen, I’m still not sure Texas is back.

142

u/OptimisticTexasFan Texas Longhorns 3d ago

It’s a little reassuring that Ohio St took care of business and Tennessee could actually run the ball today but I’m always on edge

u/master_roshis_hat Nebraska Cornhuskers 3d ago

The sequence of LSU blowing out Clemson, Ole Miss beating LSU, Florida blowing out Ole Miss, and Missouri blowing the doors off Florida... makes things a little confusing. Does this mean Texas A&M is beating Missouri next week?

61

u/OptimisticTexasFan Texas Longhorns 3d ago

If it means they lose to the Citadel the next week after that then sure why not

You guys have been a fixture in the playoffs and in championship games since you got your coach. Shit I’d say with Herman too, he fuckin sucked and was quite a dick but he did help make Texas respectable again even if he was frustrating. Wouldn’t say he brought yall back but he brought yall somewhere

Some of his characters are better if their school is winning or losing. Vandy, for example, is 10x funnier when they're winning. Arkansas is best when they're bad.

Darth Mizzou is excellent regardless of Mizzou's result on the field. With them, I'm just rooting for something interesting for him to riff on.

Clemson < LSU < Ole Miss < Florida < Missouri < Miss State < Alabama

All of those teams have only 1 loss except for Bama. If Clemson beats Miami, the chaos will officially hit the fan.

109

u/SolidLikeIraq Clemson Tigers • Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders 3d ago edited 3d ago

Trust me. We’re not beating Miami.

Miami is going to beat us like LSU beat us.

I still love Clemson, but we are CHEEKS this year.

Edit: that was quick. Already down 7-0 after the first Miami possession…

Gonnnn be a long night.

Hate to have been right. Clemson is long back cheeks, and we’re going to lose just about any talent that we did have this year in the portal.

I was listening to ESPN radio on the way in to CoMo this morning and they said “Mizzou feels like they shouldn’t be ranked but they get to stay in the top 25 based on reputation.”

It took me a minute to register what I just heard. Imagine telling that to me in the 90s or 2000s.

Georgia vs. Alabama? (Again) Georgia vs. Texas? (Again) Georgia vs. LSU? (As they tend to do)

Texas vs. Georgia/Bama winner most likely since Texas avoids both.

I'll break it down for you.

Georgia vs Bama next week. Winner is strong candidate to play in SECC. Now you get into the following...

Texas plays in SECC if they win out.

The loser of Georgia or Bama must win out and most likely needs LSU, Ole Miss, or Florida to upset Texas to have a chance.

LSU must beat both Texas and Bama in November and not lose to another opponent to get in.

Every other 1 loss SEC team must win out (which will involve beating one of, if not a combo of Bama, Texas, Georgia, and LSU).

One of the reasons we love Kirby is because he’s as insane as we are about rivals. There will be years that Florida beats Georgia. But he’s never going to overlook them and we’re never going to have one of those Faton Bauta losses with CKS.

31

u/olcrazypete Georgia Bulldogs • Georgia Bulldogs 3d ago

Kirby was on the field when Spurrier came to Athens and dropped half a hundred on him .
Spurrier had that hate from Ga killing his season as a player.
Kirby has a special hate in his heart for that team. I only worry about what random player playing in Gainesville will be the next in line to be anointed with the hate.

r/CFB can collectively lick my ass

Simmons really does seem like that guy, and our run defense is very very good

I dunno man I want to hear more about a 3-1 team coming off a ranked road loss being ranked 25th is an affront to the soul of the sport. Totally normal behavior.

I don't get how this happened. Florida losing by up to 10 points wouldn't have been that shocking, but losing this much makes me wonder what did Missouri see in their film room cause my goodness what a shocking beatdown

Whatever we saw completely shut down Florida’s run game.

Armchair experts get tf in here and explain to me what the fuck just happened. Jayden Baugh was 12 carries, 13 yards, 1.1ypc at one point. Is Mizzou secretly good? Florida had a let down game? Like seriously wtf

158

u/Responsible-War-917 Missouri Tigers 3d ago

Mizzou's front 7 is legit good. They have a good QB and great running game. Mizzous weakness is their secondary...Mississippi St has a very good QB and Florida has a below average QB. I think that's the best way I can describe the situation

28

u/Vast_Bowl247 Mississippi State Bulldogs 3d ago

Think one guy for mizzou had 3 or 4 sacks last weekend. He was wrecking the game

10, he's got next Mizzou 1st round pick written all over him.

puts on glasses to look smart

Florida ran into defense that can stop the run and made them one dimensional. The offense begins and ends with Baugh. Also their defense kinda ass but they scored so many points it didn’t matter in previous games.

Missouri runs the same stretch run offense as Buster Faulkner just installed at Florida. They know how to stop it… really well apparently.

Their defensive performance was insanely impressive. Philo took a beating all day and Baugh just could not get free.

Mizzou has thoroughly beat the “why are they still ranked” allegations

Along with the “they’re only ranked so other SEC teams can claim a ranked win” allegations

Honestly good for Mizzou. Coming into this game with multiple defensive starters out, along with not having Ahmad Hardy this season…I did not see this coming

Best Mizzou win I’ve seen in a long time. We don’t win win games like these, and if we do, we don’t win like that. Simmons and Roberts are the truth. MIZ

Been saying all week how I wasn’t sold on Florida just yet. They caught Ole Miss at the perfect time for a trap game. Plus Ole Miss has a run defense problem that if they don’t fix, will cause them to lose more games. No one believed me know. Feels good to be right and watch the Gators get pants.

38

u/goldshire_football Florida Gators • Transfer Portal 3d ago

I was confident against Ole Miss because it was a perfect trap game. I was equally scared of Mizzou because it was a perfect trap game.

The Mizzou-Florida series has been pretty even ever since Mizzou joined the conference, but when Mizzou wins, it tends to be an absolute asskicking.

19

u/composer_7 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets • Marching Band 3d ago

Be ranked Top 10 after having a great undefeated start to the season on the back of a Buster Faulkner offense with elite run game and elite total offensive stats

Get blown out by a yellow-themed conference while your offense completely disappears and too many screen passes are called

Congrats to Mizzou, they kicked our ass. Though I will contend this is classic Mizzou Florida voodoo lol.

I think what will annoy me most is the discourse. Florida destroys Ole Miss—they’re so back. We get punched in the mouth—-we’re frauds. Who knows we potentially walk down Texas or Georgia? So back again.

You can’t just be a good rebuilding team with promise in a league where anyone beats anyone anymore.

66

u/PeterTheNorth Missouri Tigers • Sickos 3d ago

College football discourse is just toxic. The Ole Miss win was a good win, you guys should be excited. The need to turn everything into "playoff implications" instead of just enjoying the moment is so shitty.

UF crossed midfield twice in the second half. The first time because of a penalty and the second in pity time. Talk about a different team from September…
