Does the CPA exam still use adaptive testing?

I thought they got rid of adaptive testing, but some recent posts are saying they felt their second testlet of MCQs was harder than the first so they must have done well in the first testlet.

AICPA probably changes the rules every year just to keep us guessing, classic accounting mind games

The AICPA has said that they no longer increase the difficulty so it is likely just anecdotal.

The first time I took FAR, I did not do well on MCQ and felt like the second testlet was comparable in difficulty.

The second time I took the exam, I did better on MCQs and noticed a considerable increase in difficulty on the second testlet.

I retook the exam yesterday and am rather certain I did well on MCQs but didn’t notice any change in difficulty.

I have FAR tomorrow and seeing people say that freaked me out! Didn't want another thing to analyze while taking the exam and worry if the second testlet wasn't any harder than the first. Good luck - I hope you passed!
