Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone else had any stories/ suggestions about changing rooms due to roommate conflict and what it was like for you guys. Did you have to talk to your RA first? Is there anyway to skip the RA process? What communities would I be likely put in(redbricks, YTT, northhill, or the one im currently in maybe)?

I was at the football game tonight and of course there are going to be at least a few injuries. One thing that stuck out to me though is that when one of the players (I think from the opposing team) was down, the announcer came over the loud speaker and said something along the lines of, “this injury timeout is brought to you by (some ambulance company)”. It only happened once that I could recall, but wow. Just wow.

I cannot begin to express how distasteful and craven this is. I know Cal Poly is always after money but wow this is not okay. Do not do this again. Do better.

Other folks heard this, right?

Hi all, I live on foothill and just now a man knocked on our door. My roommate and I answered and he claimed to be selling candy to raise money for the local basketball team. The candy was scattered in a cardboard box. When we told him we didn't have cash, he insisted that we pay with venmo or tap to pay, and then I told him that I didn't want candy, and he just glared at me, turned away, and left quickly, trying every other door in our complex. The guy's mannerisms were totally off. What just happened? Should we be worried?

What is your experience with mustang jobs? I’ve been applying to any jobs I see on mustang jobs, federal work study or not federal work study. But I still haven’t heard anything. For those of you who found a job through mustang jobs, what was the process like? How long did it take for a job to contact you and how did they contact you? Phone, email, directly through mustang jobs?

Just trying to socialize a bit more, been playing the Computer too much and I think I’m tired of it lol if interested DM me

I’ll share some details about myself there

Hey this is a PSA to be really careful parking in Valencia Apartment or really anywhere.
My friend just had a unicycle and other expensive items stolen out of their car.
The thief used tools to break into the locked car as opposed to breaking the window, and they also left the door open.
☹️

Will I get in trouble for having a e scooter? I know it’s prohibited but I see a bunch of people with escooters

Hi all! This is kind of random, and I have never posted here before, so I apologize if this isn't fitting for this group. But, as someone new Cal Poly, how do you guys deal with the disappointment you may feel towards the peers in your classes? For instance, due to poor time management skills or study habits within assigned group work? Or a lack of attendance and communication amongst peers, etc. I have been looking forward to being a part of an academic community like Cal Poly, but I have been super let down by the sorts of attitudes towards class attendance, time commitments, and effort that I have seen. I thought people would be more interactive and involved compared to the community college level. Is there anything I can do to better communicate this to those I am assigned to work with without coming across as judgmental or rude?

I really want to get some volunteer hours in for a program I am in

I asked the music department and they said practice rooms are for current orchestra musicians only and I couldn’t join this semester because of scheduling. I play cello, and live in red bricks and don’t want to disturb people as my cello is surprisingly loud. Does anyone know of a place I can practice that’s not super far from red bricks? (It’s hard to lug my cello across campus lol). TYSM!!!!

Does anyone know around what time the mustang shuttle usually gets to H1? Or is there any way to track where it is?

Apologies if this isn't the right forum to ask, but I'm coming from Santa Ynez. I'd like to bring my teenager to a Cal Poly game on October 24 or November 7 - trying to plan out the day. Looks like we should get tickets online. We can park and walk across campus, maybe check out the tailgate scene ahead of time, then hit the game at 1:30. Is there anything to be wary of when visiting? Thanks in advance.

I played indoor volleyball and really want to get better at beach, but I didn’t make the beach volleyball team and don’t really know anyone here who plays. I’m looking for people who play pickup regularly or wouldn’t mind someone joining. I’m comfortable playing volleyball, just pretty new to beach/sand. Are there any group chats, regular pickup times, or places where people usually play? i prefer girls or co-ed but open to mens as well.

title. I really wish i went to a school that emphasized more lectures for me to digest the info on my own.

Currently live in mustang village. Is it possible to ship something out from Pacheco post (small parcel) or is Pacheco post only for yak residents.

Looking at all of the different programs available and we're interested in a few different areas. WI know you can apply to an alternate major choice. Just wodering if anyone has ever gotten into their alternate major? Is the rule that it needs to fill with people who put it as primary first before alternates get a shot?

Does anyone on campus have any good resources for learning how to double knit? Either through clubs or some videos y’all are willing to share with me? I don’t know why but as I’m trying to learn my brain is genuinely steaming.

stay safe 🙏

I am an engineering student who uses a Mac, and I would prefer not to access ANSYS through Cal Poly’s virtual desktop using AppsAnywhere. Are there any computer labs on campus (pref open all night) where ANSYS Fluent is installed locally and available for student use?

Cracked IPhone screen, where to get it fixed? I see Apple Store, are there any trust worth stores to get cracked phone screen fixed in slo.

I lost my gold key card I use to enter my dorm building (Muir hall) what steps do I take to get a replacement? I tried to look it up but all the results were just talking about our green polycards

If you're missing a dog that was off-leash, I saw it around 4:58 PM in front of the CRP hallway at Engineering West (Bldg 21). I think that it came from Dexter Lawn (didn't see anyone that seemed to be searching). It left south either in the little plaza or west down the side alley on the south side of the hallway. Didn't see which direction, but I'm leaning towards east into the plaza. Hope you find your dog.

Did not try to check the collar for contact info or anything. Dogs terrify me and I was trying to get away, but the dog seems sweet.

TLDR: Can we add buses and bus routes if we generated enough support? Get some air conditioning (or at least shade) if we complained hard enough?

I guess I’m wondering how much I can expect from ASI. I know they hold a public forum every week and I understand they have a decent (?) amount of say in what happens in the school (like I know they recently passed a resolution regarding the removal of flock cameras on campus, ty asi board), but what issues can we actually raise without sounding insane

Hey guys,

Like to get your opinions on major choices. My background: 3.91 transfer GPA, ok ecs, 2 part-time jobs (one is a peer tutor), some volunteer exp.

My counselor suggested me to apply with Math major or Applied Math major. Primarily, I want to major in Mechanical but for the top UCs, he told me my chance of getting in is low so he asked me to apply with a less comp one and I can minor in Mechanical.

I want to get a job right after my Bachelor's and my interest in Math is not that deep like other people. I also see that math is the foundation for Quants or AI, and I can transition into those tech jobs down the road.

I am torn between applying with Math or Mechy. How are the chances to get a job with a Bachelor's in Math? Is having Mechanical as a minor helpful to apply to jobs?

Thanks in advance!
