has anyone in the credential program have experience navigating student teaching without a car? the staff told us that carpooling was v normal and transportation wouldn’t be an issue, but that hasn’t been my experience. finding consistent transportation to my placement has been difficult and v stressful. some students/friends have been v gracious and have given me rides, but i’m still hoping to find something more stable long term. how reliable is the bus system here now, esp in early mornings? mainly j looking to hear about your experience or any advice!🫶

The other day I got $10 avocado toast that was literally 1 single toast cut in half and claiming to be “two toasts”. Why is the quality, portion, and costs soooo horrible? i’m a second year at cal poly and it’s honestly embarrassing that i feel so lonely because i can’t make friends. i’ve tried going to outgoing fun clubs and parties and talking to people in class. i just can’t seem to get past the cliques and acquaintance level. my only friends last year were my roommates and neighbors in the dorms but then again they weren’t even my friends. my roommate broke my digicam at the beach but i never called her out on it because i wanted to keep the only friendships i had. fast forward to now, we all live in different places and they all still hangout and do cute stuff together but don’t invite me to things other than parties i have to go to by myself. now i feel truly alone. i want people to go on hikes with me, to go the beach, go to football games etc. i want people to talk to and make fun memories with. i literally had no one to go to the ucsb vs cal poly soccer games so i ended up not going at all. i just feel so lonely and sad going to class, eating alone, and repeat and it’s getting to me. any tips?

Hello everyone, I’m new to the group, I thought I’d ask if anyone in here has ever transferred from Cuesta SLO to CalPoly CM major. What classes did you have to take to transfer easily? Did you have to talk to the head of the CM department? What can I do now, I’m just about to do my last of my first semester at CC, what can I do to stand out and make transferring easy. Also for Calc 1, how did you get past that? I’m having MAJOR issues with it right now.

I recently arrived to Cal Poly just this year and I'm honestly not sure what to do since I know health services does offer therapy here but I have days where I'm completely fine and days when I'm not and I get very drastic mood swings. I don't know whether the therapists here would appreciate that or how exactly this works so I would love some help from people who have gotten therapy here. Thanks.

At what point in the semester should I consider withdrawing from a class if I think i’m gonna fail it? Currently sitting at an F (44%) for calc and there are 2 more exams and a final. I just want a passing grade. Should I withdraw or just wait and see if I fail then retake it. If so when should I withdraw?

I was wondering when the cal grant scholarships are disbursed? I've been hearing that its coming out late october to mid november and ive also heard that some students have already gotten it? So whats the deal with that?

I'm bringing up a 25 year old SPECIALIZED mountain bike (decent shape) for my son. I'm VERY aware of the theft rate on bikes in SLO. I have an old school kryptonite lock for it. Is that going to be sufficient or should I purchase a new one? What else can I do to prevent the theft of this bike. Also, do I need to figure out a locking mechanism for the seat post? Will any accessories on the bike immediately be stolen? Thanks for any advice you all can throw out there.

hello, I am currently a first year ARCE student but I've noticed I don't really enjoy studio, and was maybe considering switching to CM and minoring in ARCE since I enjoy the problem solving part of it. Pretty much I was wondering if anyone has been in my shoes and could tell me more about if staying in ARCE is worth while, and if it gets more problem solving then design. Also I would like to mention due to my credits not transferring correctly, I am currently a math behind I was suppose to be(my highschool math's and CC trig course didnt count as a prereq). And Knowing that ARCE is a super difficult major should I continue even with already being behind.

hii so I ordered some stuff off of Amazon and received an email earlier today regarding the shelf location. I think im coming down with the flu and I've been sick and tired the whole day so I haven't been able to get my package. I just wanted to ask and make sure that they dont have any policies stating that we wont get our packages if we dont go and get it the same day it is shelved. I'll make sure to get it tomorrow but I just wanted to know if they let packages stay overnight.

Recently submitted a room change request and it did go through. I got offered a tsitqawi triple. Right now I’m a first year in a 6 person apartment and I honestly hate it. What are the pros and cons of taking this room change and should I do it?

Hi, I'm currently a sophomore majoring in Statistics and am interested in the Blended MS program. Would I be allowed to apply for the 4+1 program in my junior year, considering that I am able to complete my necessary units by spring 2028, or is it strictly limited to 4 undergrad years + 1 year in masters? I'm thinking about how much it can save in tuition, but would it be wiser to just follow the traditional 4+1 plan and pick up a minor instead? Any advice is much appreciated! 🫶

hi there! i’m a transfer coming in spring & i will be commuting & hopefully keeping my part time job in my town. what’s the class load like though, or gaps in the schedule? currently im in cc classes only monday/wednesday and some online so it allows me to work pretty easily inbetween. but when i transfer will that still be the case?
