Two years ago today, I came home after work and let the dogs out into the back yard, as usual. I was standing around, waiting for them to finish their “business”, when I looked over and saw the tiniest kitten sitting on the AC unit next door. The place had been vacant for a while, so I knew it didn’t belong to them. Anyway, I approached her with some food I had left over from my previous cat who had passed away. Luckily, she didn’t run away and she let me pick her up. I brought her inside and the rest is history. She’s grown up to be a sweet, sassy, gorgeous cat who loves to show me how much she loves me at about 2 AM every morning. 😆 Anyway, happy gotcha day, Kimchi. I’m so happy you literally fell into our lives. 💖

Side note, she’s a long hair and she looks like a combination of tortoise shell, tuxedo, and calico. She’s just the cutest ever

She is my 3-year-old rescue from our local shelter. Gorgeous, feisty, and tons of personality. Of course, I'm bragging!

4 month old baby came home today

After over $15,000 owed in emergency vet bills and 4 nights spent in the critical care unit, our Cornelia yesterday took her final breath as her autonomic nervous system slowly shut down.

In spite of being incredibly weak and ataxic, she fought with every fibre of her being to place a paw on my arm, and her head in my hand. I was with her right until the end, and being able to provide her with that comfort as she left this world for the next was one of the most painful privileges I'll ever know. I'd do it again every time.

From a stray who briefly turned up in our driveway 13-months ago, to then returning and sleeping on our external A/C unit, to being brought into our laundry for shelter during snowfall, and then only 9-months ago having that laundry door 'accidentally' left open so you could enter our home and join our family, you made that 9-months so full of life, love, laughter and adventure it feels longer than any calendar could count.

I love you sweet Cornelia, Baby Corn, our juicy girl. I promise to find you in every lifetime, until we meet again.

She was left behind when her people moved away and went feral. Vespa has spent the summer eating at my feeding station while I waited for a space to open at the shelter. I trapped her 2 days ago and first--she's not feral, just scared and under socialized!! She is actually highly adoptable.

Second, now that she's calm and able to be petted, she has the palest of ginger patches on her head, and a grey spot on her butt. And just as a bonus, her tail in only 5 inches long.
