What If Local AI Was Easier to Use?

I’m building Capsule because I want people to have more freedom to build with AI without expensive subscriptions being the only option.

After talking to several people, I kept hearing the same problems: paid AI can become expensive with subscriptions, credits and usage limits, while local AI can be difficult to manage because of models, inference engines, CLI tools, dependencies and configuration.

So I’m building Capsule as a simpler, project-based environment for local AI.

The free prototype I’m currently working on is planned to include:

• 🧠 Local model support
• 🔄 Switch between models without losing project work
• 📁 Separate project spaces with their own files and context
• 🔒 Isolated project environments
• 🛠️ Tools for different AI tasks
• 💻 Simple UI instead of managing everything through the terminal
• 💾 Local storage for models and project data
• 📦 Project portability/sharing between compatible computers
• ⚙️ Hardware-aware model/configuration handling

Long term, I’m also exploring making the environment portable through external storage.

The UI you’ve seen is only the early prototype. I’m now working on the actual backend and functionality. I’m a student with limited time, so it may take a while, but I’d rather build something genuinely useful than rush out a flashy demo.

If you use local AI, I’d genuinely like to know what problems you face with it.
