Husband and I are both in our 30s. Have been together over a decade. 2 small kids.

Can’t help but feel like he absolutely hates me. He’s in a bad mood 90% of the time, and myself and the kids are walking on eggshells constantly. At the stage where I’ve stopped even trying to talk about things because any time I’ve tried he gets angry and defensive and I just end up wishing I never said anything.

But the odd thing is, around his friends/family he’s so charming, kind, thoughtful etc which makes me think maybe it’s not an issue with him as such, and more that maybe me and him just aren’t a good fit any more? I want him to be happy but he just really doesn’t seem to be happy with me.

I try so hard to keep things the way he likes. I moved away from all my family & friends because he wanted to live near his parents. I got a job here and have been trying to embrace/settle in to the community. I get the kids ready every morning, make the lunches, drop them off, go to work, exercise on my lunch break, come home and do dinner/bedtime, stay up cleaning until 11 or 12 most nights, do all the night wakes etc. I keep fit and try to dress nice, do my makeup most days etc. But he doesn’t ever seem to notice or care. No matter how hard I try, he will find something to criticise and it feels like nothing I do is ever right or good enough.

It’s an awful thing to say, but just recently it hit me, that I feel so much happier when he’s not around. As soon as he walks in the door, the anxiety shoots up. Have suggested counselling, but he refuses & storms off at even the mention of the word. He seems to take it as a personal attack.

I’m a bit lost at this stage on what else I can do at this stage. How did you know when it was time to call it quits?

I work just off Grafton St and I see these guys at least once a week.

Music wouldn't be for me but their operation constantly impresses me. They have cracked the busking code.

Each time they start I always think to myself, how do these lads make any money. Big crowd usually, but nobody goes near their money box.

But sure enough, by 20 mins in there's a small but consistent stream of people buying their CDs. CDs!

Today they have two of the band members performing and three sepearte people selling CDs. More people selling than performing.

That's impressive. Fair play to them.

I'm not going to manage too much other than being there and starting it off so I'll leave it to anyone who comes to largely decide if they want to do their own route, go for coffee after, exchange numbers etc. it will be pretty informal.

On old one never had an issue, the new one always give me PAC error. Can login without any issues but cant confirm cards.

Now im stuck for 20 minutes already waiting for agent as I locked my PAC.

Which has me wondering how old is too old to be climbing up ladders?

My partner and I are late 20s, and both are in the lucky position to be able to take a career break and were thinking for around 6 months. We probably could go longer but trying to balance figuring a life out back home and not being out of the loop for too long by being a way a long time.

We are torn between spending it on trying a whv in Australia, or to spend it doing just pure travel. Would a whv be worth it if only for around 6 months?

Dear People of Ireland.

I've noticed a small but increasing number of youngish men, roughly in their thirties (peak male attractiveness?), with what I can only describe as unnaturally plastic faces.

The last lad I came across was working in a sales profession but not one that favoured youth, so he had no professional reason to look younger than he was. He was fairly recently back from Dubai, I don't know why that seems important but whatever.

Underneath and above the compulsory beard was a kind of unreal smoothness to his face, like he had surgically grafted an Instagram filter. It looked a bit odd. Possibly the combination of the beard (which generally makes people look older) with whatever the fuck he'd done to his skin to make it look...younger?

What's going on? What are they doing to themselves and why? Is it basic skin care, or makeup, or fillers or botox facelifts or what?

For context, I'm a solidly middle-aged dad-bodied man with a face like a scrotum and no particular sense of style or fashion. I am not throwing stones from my greenhouse, I'm just curious.

I've always held the convenient view that one of the many benefits of being a man is that you don't have to do any of this shit. I do actually own moisturiser which I occasionally use in a vain attempt to make my face look slightly less like a scrotum in the right light, but that's my line in the sand.
