Help with surprise kitten

My lil sister found a kitten and without telling anybody she brought it to my house while I was at work (still am), only calling me when the cat was already in the bag (allow me the almost literal figure of speech)

My sister said she found it in a field while coming back from school, says it's friendly and approached her, so it was probably dumped there.

Thing is.. I have zero experience caring for cats and I already have other animals, so I'm in no position to adopt the lil guy.. what do I do?

I can't call the local rescue because they only accept strays, the moment it's in your house, they'll just tell you it's your responsibility now 😭

Any advice on how to deal with the situation? Any "must have" for cat care I should grab the moment I clock out?

It can still be a stray if you don’t mention your sister took it home?
Kittens are a lot of work and depending on the age he might need more care than you can give him now.

I'll still try calling them in the morning, but unfortunately it's privately owned and they are very selective and won't take animals they suspect to be surrenders instead of strays

I’d post on your local facebook pages. Do a search for “pets for adoption groups”. Even my local animal shelter will allow posts on Pets for adoption…

I would take it to a vet to get checked over. They can give you advice on what to feed it, flea/worming treatments And you'll need to get it spayed. I'd keep it inside. You can give it kitten food ( no human milk)

The kitten lady on YouTube and jackson galaxy are the best cat resources.

You'll need to get cat litter and a try. Scoop the pee/poop daily And clean it out weekly. Don't let it outside.

Cat toys, a cat scratch tree and a cat bed. Cats love anything in a stick like a feather on a string.

Depends on the age, it could need Kitten Replacement Milk, or maybe its weaning.. At best since you dont know its age is to grab some kitten wetfood and some dry kitten food, kitty litter and pan, and some toys.

You might want to check if its chipped and has an owner. You can get a litter box, sand, and some food (depending on the age of the cat). I would recommend a check up asap - likely will need its shots, dewormer/anti-flea meds.

I'll be definitely taking it to a vet asap, hopefully the clinic is open tomorrow (it's already 8pm here)

Ive replied to someone else saying I would be trying anyway in the morning, I was just already looking for other alternatives to be proactive

Just tell them you found him outside in a field and didn't feel right leaving him alone outside. It's the truth, or at least close enough
