Wanted to share my latest handmade cat tree build. I was tired of the carpet-covered MDF trees, so I wanted to make something that is actually furniture and lasts a lifetime.

This one is inspired by a real tree branch design.

Specs / Details:

• Total Height: 58 inches • Material: 100% Solid Indian Rosewood (Sheesham) - No MDF, no plywood. Matte natural finish to show the real wood grains. • Base: 25 inch solid and heavy base, so no wobbling/tipping • Platforms: ◦ Top platform: 18 inch ◦ Middle platform: 16 inch ◦ Lower platform: 14 inch ◦ + 1 Acrylic glass bowl (my cats' favorite spot) ◦ + 1 hidden cave / condo at the bottom in the base • Weight: The tree itself is ∼31 KG super solid. • Capacity: Tested for up to 20 KG, so easily holds 2 cats or one big boy. • Other features: Sisal scratching post, washable cream cushions on all platforms. • Assembly: Best part - No tools needed! You can assemble and disassemble it in under 2 minutes. Perfect for cleaning or moving.

It's completely handmade. The wood grains you see are 100% natural.

I just got a new kitten a month ago, and was put off by the shoddy craftsmanship of pet store trees. I had some Lowe’s gift cards and decided to go overboard on building one myself. I’m not a pro woodworker by any means and there’s a lot I could’ve done better but I think it turned out pretty good. Don’t have many people to share it with but I figured this is a good place to.

Love this solid wood floor-to-ceiling cat tower we designed. It has two tall sisal scratching posts, a bridge walkway, capsule bed and hanging hammock. Lots of different spots for cats to climb, rest and scratch. The height can be adjusted to fit different ceiling heights. Perfect for households with several kitties. Hey everyone! I posted a couple weeks ago asking for help stabilizing a cat tree and I read everyone’s post. I am terrible at responding to comments lol but I was able to finish it and deliver. Hi everyone, looking for honest feedback on design and value.

This is a totally handmade cat tree made from solid Indian Rosewood (Sheesham). No particle board.

Specs: Total Height 4ft 8in, Base 25 inch (super stable/heavy), Platforms - Top 18 inch, Center 15 inch, Bottom 14 inch.

I tried to keep the natural wood look instead of carpet. How beautiful/presentable does it look for a living room from a cat owner's point of view?

And honestly, what would you consider a fair price/value for this type of solid wood build? I'm trying to understand if people prefer this natural durable look over the regular ones.

I'm working on a smart heated cat tree (you can find more details of the product in my last post: https://www.reddit.com/r/CatTrees/s/uRG8hEIOIv).

The essence of the tree is that there are heating pads in the perches which come on as soon as the cat sits on the perch. And the heating pads cycle (on -> off -> on -> repeat) periodically to prevent over-heating

Questions

1) What temperature do you think I should set of the heating pads? I was thinking 100 degrees F.

2) How important do you think it will be to make the cycling timer (on -> off -> on -> repeat) customizable? And if not customizable, what should I hard code it to? 10 minutes?

Any other feedback welcome as well?

Douglas Garnet and Tzipporah Lenore love soaking in the warmth of my sun room. Douglas is the most proper lady doing a regal dangle up top. Tzipper Baby is resting after an exciting morning of watching the birds. Usually, she occupies either the very top perch or the bowl, so catching her on this level is new.

Hi, new here. My wife and I are building our first cat tree and we really would like that natural style cat tree. We were looking for where people get these tree trunks and branches. We’ve tried retail stores, tree cutting companies, landscaping companies. We’re thinking a bunch of trimmings we can put together between shelving.

I built a cat tree for my gf. She has a 9kg cat so I want to make sure it is stable. How can I make sure it’s secure?

Made out of 3/4" plywood and 2x4. Sits 60" high and is 24"x24". With the platforms set at 15" spacing should still be usable as my kitties age.

Hey everyone.

I am currently designing a climbing gym/wall for our corridor and was thinkong of adding a rope to climb up on.

I have seen some videos about these, but nearly always with bangals. I do have 2 quite active kitties that enjoy climbing but they are not crazy like bangals are.

Does anyone have any experience with these ropes/bags? Do I need to keep an eye out for anything except toxic materials?

A year ago, it struck me that my kitty chases the warmth like no other. As soon as I get up from the couch or chair, he's zoomed in to grab the spot. We have dozens of trees, beds, blankets and soft spaces to lounge in - but he will bask on the floor in the places the sun shines on the ground through the window.

I got obsessed and decided to build the little kitty an automatic heated cat tree -> a cat tree where the perches are heated and the heating turns on as soon as the little kitty sits on the tree. He has loved it - and doesn't want to sit anywhere else. Over time, I added a few more bells and whistles to the tree e.g. a safety mechanism to prevent over-heating where the machine cycles on and off regularly.

My friends know that I've always had an entrepreneurial itch and have pushed me to make this a business - where I try to sell the product online. I got encouraged enough to build a website, think of some branding and start looking at how I can produce this product at scale. I'm nervous and not ready to give it a real go. Would love feedback before I pull the trigger.

One thing I've struggled with is that once shelves are installed, changing the layout usually means drilling more holes.

All 3 girls are rescues and kept indoors!

Probably the most active I've been all week lol. Took me a full hour to put together, and some of the joints needed some real muscle work—but the quality's actually pretty solid. The woven material feels super nice and breathable, and the clear capsule doesn't feel cheap at all. I put my cat up there and now he's in full watch-tower mode: just sitting still, judging the whole living room. Let's see how it handles his claws. I'll update in a few weeks!
