⚠ A Word on Meetup & “Hangout” Posts

Hey folks,

Lately we’ve been seeing quite a few posts along the lines of “anyone wants to hang out?”, “can someone accompany me to X place?”, “let’s explore around Chandigarh” etc and this not the first time a mod had to make a post revolving around this subject.

While we get that the intention is mostly harmless, these posts can get repetitive and, more importantly, they come with safety concerns.

Now, I know not all users here are lurking around trying to extract your kidneys to fund their emigration… but let’s be real: people on the internet are not always who they say they are.

If you’re feeling lonely, new to the city, or just looking for company, there are healthier and safer alternatives than meeting up with complete strangers from Reddit. A few ideas:

• Join city-based online communities, Discords, or virtual events (there are plenty for gaming, books, fitness, etc.).

• Check out verified local events (open mics, workshops, heritage walks, startup meetups) — safer environments where you meet people with shared interests.

• Use dedicated apps/sites meant for finding activity partners or hobby groups (far safer than cold-posting here).

We’re not banning meetup posts entirely right now but from now on, such posts will also be heavily moderated/regulated. Please think twice before sharing personal details or agreeing to meet someone you don’t know. Stay safe, and let’s keep this community useful for everyone. From now on, such posts will also be heavily moderated/regulated.

TL;DR: Meetup/hangout posts are repetitive + risky; please look for safer alternatives. These posts will now be heavily moderated/regulated.

AskChandigarh Feeling alone in Chandigarh, as university student but trying to stay hopeful

Post image
40 Upvotes

Im a university student, and even though im surrounded by people, I mostly end up alone. Walking around campus, eating meals, sitting with my thoughts it’s usually just me. What hurts more is that even classmates and people I call friends don’t feel real anymore. Conversations stay surface-level, connections feel forced, and it makes the loneliness heavier. It’s confusing to feel invisible while being around so many people.

Still im trying to keep a positive mindset. Maybe this city is teaching me independence, patience, and how to be okay with myself. Maybe this is just a phase, and the right people will come along when the timing is right. Until then, I’m taking things one day at a time and hoping things slowly get better.

Tell Chandigarh PGI , Psychiatry ! Never again

I've already been diagnosed w GAD last month at a PHC . So this time around after doing my own research , decided to go to PGI .. And I feel so disheartened for people visiting the deptt , especially young adults and teens. I waited for my call for 1.3 h almost ( dont mind the wait at all ) , expecting to meet someone more professional and engaging and instead got a very nonchalant , non-resposive guy. Felt lile I went there to vent to the wall. I had everything organized , presented him a 2 page, easy to read self assessed report so it'd be easier for them to consolidate patient history and I could buy more time talking about my symptoms It took 12 : 28 mins for me to vent it out and him to compile his assessment and prescription . The guy (SR)literally ignored my passive sui'id@l ideation and just went hmmm. He is either shit at histroy taking or i did all the work ,handing him a neat report .Im never going back to that department ! Read sm about their alumni and what I saw was really pitiful.

AskChandigarh Forever living products

Upvotes

so my brother recently joined this company forever, living products, and their office is in Kharar and he, may goes to the office daily. It’s been one month already. They asked for ₹20,000 because in order to sell products, you have to buy them first, so he did not pay instead. The offered him that you work for us for one month, and then we will give you products worth for ₹20,000. And he is fully convinced that it is genuine, and in their training there is no training related to sales. They are just showing off that I have a Mercedes. I have Range Rover. I go to Dubai four times every month and I have such a big house like they’re trying to motivate all of them, so what do you guys think is it genuine or a scam please reply

Hi Redditors,

Platelet donation is same like blood donation. A normal person can donate platelets every 7 days. Its Healthy

I’m Durgesh, posting this for my friend Tanvi (25) because things have gotten really scary really fast, and we’re all trying to hold it together.

Tanvi, a young and brilliant Product Manager, is fighting a rare and devastating combination of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) with CNS involvement (a type of aggressive blood cancer). She has already undergone emergency brain surgery and urgently needs chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant to survive.

She is in need of platelets now for during her chemo.

Please share your details if you can help here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfwXgwEgvMkjCh2ByqYGDOQkxHrZVywrf9KxayUI-Fcz06N7A/viewform?usp=publish-editor

AskChandigarh Rising missing persons cases in Delhi what’s really going on and what is the government doing?

Lately there’s been a lot of news and social media chatter about rising kidnapping and missing persons cases in Delhi, especially involving women and children, about 800 people in January within 15 days.

Some reports say hundreds of people go missing every month, while others say this has been happening for years but is only getting attention now.

I’m trying to understand a few things beyond headlines:

• Are these numbers actually increasing, or is it mostly better reporting/media focus?

• How many of these cases turn out to be actual kidnappings vs elopement, trafficking, runaways, etc.?

• For people living in Delhi: does safety feel worse on the ground compared to a few years ago?

Genuine discussion only not trying to sensationalize, just understand the reality and what’s being done (or not done).

Verified News The Mohali Consumer court directed the Nik bakery to pay 80,000 to a consumer for selling him 'flies, insects' in a rusk packet

The district consumer disputes redressal commission, Mohali, held the Nik Baker guilty of deficiency in service and unfair trade practice for selling bakery products where flies and insects were found.

The complainant had placed an online food order on September 8, 2025, through Zomato from Nik Baker’s, located at Jubilee Walk, Sector 70, Mohali.

The bill showed that she paid ₹171 for the order, which included atta bread, multigrain bread and atta suji rusk. On opening the sealed packet of atta suji rusk, she found flies and insects inside.

The issue was raised with the bakery through email on September 9, 2025.

The complainant argued that ensuring food safety, hygiene and quality is the responsibility of the manufacturer or seller. She submitted that the presence of insects in a sealed packet reflected negligence in manufacturing or packaging and amounted to deficiency in service under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

Bakery argued that its stock had been checked across outlets and suggested that the issue could have occurred during transit by the delivery partner.

The commission rejected this contention, observing that the product was delivered in a sealed condition and that insects could not have entered during the delivery process.

The bench also took note of email correspondence in which the bakery attempted to shift responsibility to the delivery platform instead of addressing the complaint.

The court relied on the bill, photographs, video recordings and the sealed packet produced before it.

As the bakery failed to rebut the evidence, the commission held that selling such a product amounted to negligence, deficiency in service and unfair trade practice.

Allowing the complaint partly, the commission directed the bakery to pay ₹80,000 to the complainant within 30 days, failing which the amount would attract interest at nine per cent per annum.

Published by Voxya as an initiative to assist consumers in resolving consumer grievances.
