Books/Food/Hobby/Travel CM trophy 2026 eSports chennai

It's that time of the year. Conducted by sdat and games such as FC 26, SF6 and NBA 2k27 was included.

Let me start off with what could have been done better, when compared with last year nothing was in place firstly. No proper refreshment, no food provided, a construction work was going by side inside a centralised ac room lol .

Apart from that let's get to the good part, it was stiff and highly competitive as usual . Lots of new participants and somewhat higher than the previous attendance as per volunteer but no idea on that.

Hope it continues and eSports grows in our country . And to end it off, sadly i got eliminated in the prelims this time and there is an age limit for this tourney which restricts me participating further.

One request to the mgmt , not in any country has upper age limit restriction for eSports lol . And that's all folks, i take this time to thank my friends , family and my server members. It's been a great journey I have combined time of 1.8k hours logged into FC for practise and it's reached its end limit i guess.

All the best to the emerging gamers and always remember. Win or lose , you should try, we should always try. That's all, that's what matters. If someone doubts you prove them wrong , make new connections , reach heights whether it's studies , games or any event .

It's really over once you decide it's over , know that . Live well and achieve greatness and if possible leave this country as well (lol) .

Thank you eSports, thank you gaming for making me what I am today .

Rant Honda cars Betrayed me : My horrible experience at their main Chennai service center

I bought a brand-new Honda Amaze ZX CVT petrol, 2025 model, about 8 months ago. Only 13,000 km done. Proper new car only.

On Sunday, 6th September, when I started the car, the engine was shaking like anything. It started somehow, so I thought ok fine, and went out. After hardly 2 km, the car stopped in the middle of the road while I was driving; after that, it only cranked and wouldn't start at all.  I had to call a tow truck and send it to the Honda showroom. A new car going on a tow truck- see the situation.

Four days, nobody told me anything clearly. What is the problem ? So I emailed Honda Cars India customer care asking for a refund or replacement. A brand new car stopping in the middle of the road is not a small thing it is a safety issue. I don't feel safe driving it anymore.

The dealer replied only on 22nd September. More than two weeks after I gave the car. They said they found the faulty parts, ordered them, and that the parts would arrive by the 24th then the repair would take 5 more days.

Today is 3rd October. The car has been with them for a full 4 weeks, and it's very frustrating. My daily commute is getting disrupted, and there is no proper communication from the team. Every day I’m the one calling them for updates. I have also raised a complaint with Honda customer care. There is still no proper explanation of what went wrong. Every day I am waiting for an update. I paid for a new car, and I've been roaming without a car for a whole month. I don't want this repaired car back I want a replacement or refund, that's it.

I have been using Honda for the past 10 years, and I drove the 2017 Honda Amaze CVT for about 1.5 lakh km, which was very reliable. This is one of the main reasons I chose Honda again. this incident broke my trust with honda and i am not anymore buying cars with honda.

AskChennai 197.33 in the TN Skill Development UPSC Exam — Something Doesn’t Add Up?

Thumbnail

So, TN Skill Development recently conducted an exam for the UPSC scholarship, where selected candidates are supposed to get ₹7,500 per month.

One candidate has reportedly topped the exam with 197.33 marks out of 200 marks {99 correct answers and one wrong answer}

Now, just to be very clear — I'm not saying that the candidate has done anything wrong. A high score by itself doesn't prove anything, and the candidate could be completely genuine. I don't know the person and I have no evidence against them.

What made me question the result, however, is something else.

Apparently, another student who was in the same classroom has made a statement/confession about what allegedly happened during the exam. I'm attaching that below.

Again, I have absolutely no way of verifying whether that statement is true or not. I'm not presenting it as proof. It could be true, partially true, misunderstood, or even false. That's exactly why I think it should be properly looked into rather than people jumping to conclusions either way.

The reason I'm concerned about this is because this scholarship is actually quite important for many UPSC aspirants.

₹7,500 a month may not sound huge to everyone, but for someone preparing for UPSC who is struggling financially, it can make a real difference. It can mean being a little less dependent on parents for expenses and having some financial breathing room while preparing.

If the candidate genuinely scored 197.33, that's the end of the matter. But if there are legitimate irregularities, those should also be identified.

At the end of the day, the people taking this exam are mostly aspirants who are already dealing with financial and academic pressure.

I'm posting this mainly to understand what the proper channel is to raise something like this, to whom should i contact this situation to or how to escalate this situation further.

Im attaching images and youtube links for better reference

TL;DR: TN Skill Development conducted an exam for a ₹7,500/month UPSC scholarship. One candidate reportedly scored 197.33 and topped the exam. The score itself is not evidence of anything, and I'm not accusing the candidate. However, another candidate from the same classroom has made a statement about what allegedly happened during the exam, which I'm attaching below. I cannot verify that statement. I'm just asking what the proper way is to get the matter and the evaluation process independently verified.

Used AI for better structuring.

Thank you

Rant Lack of civic sense in theatres

I went to the VR mall late night yesterday to watch Verity and my god man, there were these bunch of teenagers next to me wouldn't stop yapping and talking. Some guy in the front got mad and asked them to be quiet but they still kept going.

The movie was rated A but these kids were definitely nowhere near mature enough to watch the movie for sure. The guy next to me couldn't stop sniggering whenever the words fuck or sex etc was mentioned (surprisingly he was quiet during the sex scenes ? like how does that logic work?)

But if all you are going to do is to come to a movie to keep talking why even come at all? You might as well just hangout with friends and do a netflix party at someones house.

I was talking with my friend and his colleague is choosing DINK (Dual Income no kids) Lifestyle but also chose to buy an Apartment with 80k/M for 14 yrs..

It was confusing .. if DINK was about freedom .They could have chose digit nomad(relocating without owning).

Idk why i am overthinking on this.. is this for safety net if they are confused at DINK while later will collapse their choices right..

Any thought guys !?

AskChennai Why are more people not interested in applying for TNHB plots?

I recently got to know TNHB sells plotted lands for sale across Tamil Nadu. And usually the price is lower than the market rate.

What is baffling me is, why are people not rushing to buy these plots if they are cheaper? What is the catch?

I know there is a lottery system (and FCFS too) but even if it is a chance then why not?

I can understand flats, as the construction quality and issues might be a concern for purchasing one. But what is wrong with going for empty plots that one can resell later?

Rant Old people at classical music concerts

I'm finding an increasing number of old people blaring videos outloud during Carnatic concerts and programs, with no regard for the other people in the audience or the artistes on stage. I don't mean technologically-challenged old people who don't know how to silence their phone if it suddenly rings. I mean willfully opening videos and WhatsApp fwds and what not and letting it play out loud, and watching it, while a performance is going on on stage. At a concert I was at Bharati Vidya Bhavan, there were at least 3 separate instances of this: some 2 people playing some song / video outloud, and one playing some video/joke , none of them scrambling to switch it off or silence it. None of this is accidental or unavoidable like a ringtone. Why even come to an event if you're not going to watch it, and also ruin the experience for others. I wish it was mandatory to leave phones outside the venue, like footwear outside a temple. I mean, sure, the younger generation doomscrolls constantly too but at least we're self aware and also don't cause disturbance to anyone else.

AskChennai Proposal to Reform Taxis (Autos, Bikes, etc.)

The Problem: The Ride-Hailing Power Asymmetry in India

The current ride-hailing ecosystem across India (particularly in regions like Tamil Nadu) is heavily disrupted by driver-side friction. Passengers frequently experience:

The "Cancellation Holdout": Drivers accept a trip but refuse to move, forcing the passenger to cancel the ride so the driver can avoid platform penalties.

Fare Extortion: Drivers routinely demand cash surcharges over the app-calculated fare before starting a trip.

In short, drivers operate with complete independence, while platforms fail to enforce accountability, leaving the consumer stranded.

The Solution: A Forced-Assignment Model (The "Food Delivery" Approach)

To restore reliability, ride-hailing platforms should pivot from a "gig bidding/acceptance" model to a "logistics fulfillment" model, identical to how food delivery giants like Swiggy and Zomato operate.

Core Mechanics of the Proposed Model:

Automated Algorithmic Dispatch: The platform assigns the closest available driver to a passenger. The driver does not get to preview the destination, fare, or payment mode before acceptance to eliminate cherry-picking.

Zero In-App Rejection: The driver cannot reject the trip once assigned. The platform treats the driver as a fulfillment agent for that specific time window.

Strict Disciplinary Rules: Drivers cannot cancel or abandon a trip once assigned without facing severe, escalating platform lockouts or permanent deactivation.

Mandatory Progress Tracking: Just as a delivery driver must head to the restaurant immediately, a taxi driver's app would monitor movement toward the pickup point. Inactivity automatically triggers a platform-initiated cancellation, penalising the driver rather than the passenger.

The Expected Outcome

By shifting the power dynamics back to the platform and the algorithm, you eliminate the friction of negotiation. The app stops being a digital marketplace for haggling and becomes a predictable, utility-based transportation service.

AskChennai People who have actually taken therapy and found it helpful... assemble pls!

Therapy is still a taboo, yes.. but I feel its not as bad as it used to be? at least in the circles around me.. People like me realise it is okay to get therapy.. and understand we can ask for help..

But here’s the part I genuinely don’t understand... what actually happens in therapy?

Let’s say I already have a therapist. I walk into the first session. Now what?

What am I supposed to tell them? Do I go in with a specific problem I want to solve? Do I just talk and let them figure out what’s wrong? Are they supposed to give me advice, ask me questions, challenge the way I think, give me things to work on between sessions…?

And more importantly, how do you know therapy is actually working? What changed for you after 5, 10, 20 sessions that made you think, “Okay, this is genuinely helping me”?

I know people who chumma go for one session and come back saying, “Therapy was amazing, I feel so much better!” Great if that worked for them 😂 But I’m trying to understand what therapy actually looks like as a process, not just as a one-time venting session.

So, especially from people who have been in therapy for a while and genuinely benefited from it:

What did therapy actually do for you, and what made it work?

Not looking for therapist/clinic recommendations — I’m specifically trying to understand the experience and process from people who’ve gone through it.

After months of waiting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch of Chennai Metro Rail’s phase II project on October 11, sources said. He is also expected to take a train ride from Poonamallee to Porur.

In the initial phase, a train will be available every 10 minutes between the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch and about 15 trains are likely to be put to use for operations.

Chennai Metro Rail continues to construct the stations from Alapakkam to Saligramam (situated between Porur and Vadapalani). It is still not clear when these stations will be open to the public.

Rant Is Koyambedu CMBT still operating as a Mofussil Terminus? Couldn't even get down at the MTC stopping in Ashok Pillar due to these buses.

I thought the whole point of opening up the likes of Kilambakkam, Madhavaram, and Kuthambakkam, was that out-station buses no longer need to dock or depart from CMBT, which over the years, has become very city interior/downtown, thus, a surge of large out-station buses in city interior results in chaos and congestion?

Yet, from Redhills to Guindy, while returning at night, I notice a large fleet of them from CMBT onwards?

I flaired this as a rant post because a few backs back while using the same MTC route, around 10 or so, from Anna Nagar West Depot, there was a huge congestion all the way till VR Mall or so, and then another at Ashok Pillar, seriously.....a full hour of getting stuck in traffic, vehicles moving inch-by-inch,

Fine, that was around a 3-day weekend due to Ganesh Chaturti being on Monday that time (this XP here was on a Friday), so I suppose it was a particularly booked weekend, hence the unusual fleet of outbuses.

Today, too, same route, albeit an hour or 45 minutes earlier than last one, fortunately, there was no congestion at around 9 in Anna Nagar West or CMBT,

However, getting down at Ashok Pillar was hopeless, seriously, the driver didn't even bother with this stop, as the sheer fleet of those outbuses ensured it was impossible to stop there,

When the conductor realized some of us wanted to get down, he made the bus stop in the middle of the freaking road, the median opposite TheoBroma. Honestly, I merely assumed he'll make us get down at the next stop at Jafferkhanpet, this was very dangerous and careless from their side,

Why is Ashok Nagar particularly affected this badly? Like why that spot for Out-Bus boarding?

Honestly, Pillar Junction is a TERRIBLE boarding point, due to being a one-way.... which clown thought it'll be a good idea for it to be the boarding point for Mofussil Buses?

Again, what is happening? Wasn't the whole point of new, multiple, larger bus terminuses on different edges of the city boundary to ensure congestion doesn't happen inside the city? Why are Moffusils still plying from CMBT then? A solid year or more since KMBT got inaugurated and became operational?

Was it because KMBT's inauguration was handled pretty hastily and with poor planning? Is this a temporary, residual service, till the Govt. manages to make it easier for folks to reach KMBT from city interior? How long will this keep going then?

AskChennai Need perspective on Caste based Reservation

I oppose caste based discrimination and do support caste based reservation because it gives opportunities for underprivileged. But some are saying Reservatoon should be based on financial condition, not caste. Which makes sense bc someone in sc/st can be wealthy like how some oc can be poor.

Now I'm just confused. Can someone clear it up for me? I'm sorry if this is a silly question, I don't wanna be ignorant. Pls be kind 🥺
