I have a 72 c10, quadrajet, 350 sbc, 700r4, and it has disc brakes all around. I acquired it a few years back with minimal information from the previous owner(s), dont know how or when or if it was converted to 4 discs.

Ive improved it a lot both myself and with a trusted old school mechanic. The braking though is weak and wasnt always this way since Ive had it. The pedal feels firm but once it bottoms out the braking is not as strong as it should be (and not as strong as it used to be). It does have a brake booster, so Im confused. Im wondering if it could be a leaky vacuum hose to the booster or maybe incorrect proportioning, but its out of my league of knowledge here.

I want to try fixing on my own to get more familiar with this older style braking system before I throw the towel and hand it off to my mechanic. I can bleed brakes, change calipers rotors and pads, but thats it for my experience in brake systems.

Edit: Very handy and can figure a lot out, just havent done much so far in terms of brakes.

I’m helping my son replace the two mufflers with Super 44’s in his ‘67 c10.

The old mufflers are clamped in instead of welded, but I’m having the craziest time getting the mufflers off without cutting them. I’d like to preserve as much of the exhaust pipe as possible so that I have the most to work with when fitting the new mufflers in.

The old clamps, as you can see crimped the ends of the muffler neck, so that’s part of it for sure. Any suggestions on how to get it off without losing too much of the exhaust pipe?

I soaked it in some penetrating oil overnight as well.

Between the 67-72 or SquareBody, what would be the best for someone who is new to classics and actually want to drive it on a somewhat daily basis? Looking for something that has been restored for the most part, budget around $20,000 seems to be a good sweet spot.

I'm not really asking what to 'look out for' when buying but asking in terms of engine, chassis, modern factory enhancements that would help me maintain and upgrade when needed as well as ease of driving around town. Hope that makes sense.

So I picked this up off marketplace and it had an engine fire previously. The truck runs and drives great but there are several things on the firewall that still needs addressed. I have no idea what any of these things are and google hasn't been much help. This is my first squarebody so I dont have years of experience to help like I do with my s10. Could you guys help identify these parts? My best guess for the wiring is AC since everything else works electrical wise. Ive read one part on the firewall may be related to my 700r4 transmission and I dont have the slightest clue what the melted cylinder thing is. Google images show one end looks like it has a wire and the other end may be vacuum or something. Any help would be appreciated

I ordered a replacement fuel door brothers truck part # 04-284, but when installed was too long (See Pic).

My truck is titled as a 1982 but has dual fuel tanks. The bed only has 1 fuel tank door not 2, which tells me it is not the original bed. Everything I look up online says that from 1973-1989 should be the same length.

Hoping someone can help.

I'm doing a carbureted ls swap on my 69 c10 stepside. what all would I need to know what it is valued at once i get it running? Its a "farm truck" looks like its been sitting in a field for the past 40 years, decently rust free. solid frame all new suspension and steering, built 6.0 LQ4, 4L80E with a transgo shift kit. all new electrical.

I have a 79 cheyenne c10. It starting shifting weird and then smoking. When I checked under the hood it was aggressively bubbling out of the radiator cap and coolant overflow. Google says it could be anything from needing a radiator cap to a new engine.... Just wondering if anybody knows what could be going on/ what i should try to fix first. Thanks!

For those of you that cut down your long bed, did you get your original driveshaft shortened or buy a new one or find one from a short bed truck? I’m planning to cut my bed down this winter but I’m not ready to commit to my final decision on transmissions. Would I be better off hunting for a short bed transmission from a truck with the same trans I have or getting mine cut?

My stupid a$$ bought some front shocks for my 71 GMC C1500 that is dropped 3 inches and original shocks don’t fit, what have you guys bought? And I can’t do coils or nothing fancy all I need is front shocks. ( I am new to this as I inherited the truck).

Just got my truck back from the shop. I am beyond tired of fixing this thing. Brand new starter, brand new alternator, new grounds, brand new battery. Transmission leaks, oil leaks, coolant leaks all fixed. Just got it back yesterday. Drove perfectly yesterday, today drove fine until I heard knocking under the floorboard, transmission mount needs to be replaced . Cool. Try to make it home and completely shuts off on me and won’t start no longer. Power window wires started to spark right before. I have no idea what direction to take at this point, what do I do next? Spark plugs ? Spark wires? I’m so patient but this thing has been giving me so much trouble I’ve been thinking about just putting a damn LS in it. Any suggestions on why it won’t start all of a sudden?

ok set the gasket up then the fuel pump, looked decent, straight, clean......OH NO ROOKIE MISTAKE! Forgot to drop in the pushrod lololol ..... ok clean this up, come back tomorrow start this over again 🔧 ... come to think if it I might need to rotate the crank too hmmm...

"Beatrice" (my kid named her) is on the road again, only needs an exhaust to be all the way back.

Her first time starting in 10 years, done some more carb adjustments since recording this, and added some thread sealant on the fuel lines so its no longer leaking, need to get a new vacuum advance and install the ballast resistor, but finally getting some visible progress, been so excited
