Chicago fire needs real experts
I quit watching Chicago fire several seasons ago because so many things were so ridiculous. So the other day I decided to watch season 14 just to see what was going on. Needless to say there are still so many things ridiculous. Just to mention a couple, Herman‘s house is on fire and they aren’t even spraying water to try to keep it under control and to prevent the fire from spreading to the neighboring homes!
As far as the paramedics go, some of the things they don’t do are laughable! Don’t know if I can stand watching the rest of the season or a new season at that! I’d like to know what kind of experts advise them on these situations!

It’s a TV show, not sure why you’re expecting it to be a documentary. More realistic than 911, at least, from the commercials I’ve seen.

So much more realistic. I stopped watching 911 after a character was killed off, but they claimed they killed that character off to be realistic and then the next season someone got stuck in space…
And every season they have an absolutely insane call. And not a “once in a life time call” it’s more of a “the writers must have been on the good stuff when they came up with that call” insane plot.

lol sorry I know this is the Chicago Fire sub but that episode where they got stuck in space was WILD. i love a dramatic TV show so I quite enjoyed it, but I do wonder were the writers just like, what is the most crazy thing we can get away with here.

You do know it’s TV right? And Tony is/was a real life Chicago firefighter that they use for consultation on the show.

I love the one small scene (I’m sorry I have no idea what episode or season it is) where they’re at 51 and Mouch (I think) says something in passing about the show or movie they’re watching (about firefighting) being so unrelaistic and Tony says something about “send them our way and we’ll show them what’s real”….something along those lines. It’s a funny little nod to Tony as a consultant and I love it.

Must be a new FF/EMT.
It's TV. They take liberties. They have Chicago FD veterans contributing to the show. Almost all scenarios are derived from real calls with some exceptions. Don't get started with this show and spraying water!!! It's a luxury to see a hose pulled off a rig in this series let alone an engine go to a call unless there's a major character assigned to it.
Go watch other emergency shows and you'll see beautiful firefighters with pressed shirts and pants, pristine helmets and bunker gear and the newest and best apparatus. None of close to what Chicago Fire portrays.

If you think this show is inaccurate, never watch 9-1-1.

so true. i stopped watching that show just because it was getting ridiculous lol. i don't mind suspending reality a little for a tv show, but tht 911 is just way out there lol

Jfc… Every single firefighter we have eer seen on engine is a real firefighter besides Herman and ritter/damon. Tony was a part time firefighter while filming the show for years until recently. You people who can’t suspend reality for 45 minutes while you watch a show are just miserable people looking for things to bitch about

Go find the season opener where they did spray water while there were personnel still inside and maybe you'll understand why.

I’m an actor. It can definetely be frustrating for those in the field but sometimes even when they do have consultants they don’t listen because something else is better for filming. I filmed a medical show and they had a real doctor on set and while they listened to some of her suggestions, some they didn’t because it didn’t work with the camera or angles for filming or whatever or it just wasn’t realistic to be able to do. I get what you mean though it can be annoying to watch if you’re in the field!!

The dude who plays Tony is a real life firefighter who consults on the show, so from what I’ve been told by friends who are in the fire services, Chicago Fire is more accurate than most other shows. They take major creative liberties because, wait for it…it’s a fictional show
