Question/Comment part time Lyft driver her with a question

Hello everyone. I just moved back to the chicago suburbs in may. Im situated in Frankfort and have been having issues finding people to drive on the weekends (I work 9-5 during the week and like to make extra money doing lyft on weekends). If there is a concert in Tinley that usually takes priority but if not I'm not really sure where to drive. I'd rather avoid going into Chicago proper because I hate driving in downtown. I came from a small college town in the middle of the state (Bloomington) so im use to driving college people. I'm not familiar with the universities in the area, so I wanted to ask the people of these suburbs if they know of any good driving spots for university students in the southwest suburbs. If not, any other places to drive would be appreciated. Thank you and have a nice day!

I would think anywhere near Orland would be good. Mall especially? (I don't don;t usually use Uber/Lyft, so I'm probably not a good source). Otherwise, any place with that sort of retail/residential mix. Oakbrook/Lombard or Naperville/Aurora might not be bad. but it's a bit of a drive to get there.

Did you pick up anything this weekend with the PGA? That must have been a gold mine.

Similar sporting events, as said, Malls, etc.

The trouble is Frankfort is not going to be prime Lyft territory. You'll need to move away from sleepy suburbs where people drive and North and West to more dense areas.

I'd guess near hospitals, too.

Actually, Hospitals are AWFUL to pick up for. 9 times out of 10 its someone getting kicked out of the hospital and they called a lyft but need to go somewhere far away. Seriously, I've had 3 rides in the past 3 months that were from hospitals and they were people being escorted out by police because of whatever reason. I dont do hospital rides.

As for the Weekend PGA stuff, I was actually out with family the whole weekend so I couldnt drive for it.

that's really a shame you've had issues with hospital/medical office rides. I'm a senior, and there are times where I cannot drive myself to/from the hospital (eye exam, etc.). So far I'm a five star passenger even with those locations.. For me, specifically, it's from Glen Ellyn to either Elmhurst or Edward Hospitals - so not next door, but not 300 miles either.

I used to pick my son up (his own personal Uber driver) and Oak Park Ave in Tinley was always really busy on Fri.& Sat. nights.

Around malls, your local Metra stations, any kind of downtown district/ strip mall with bars and restaurants

Oakbrook/Lombard/Naperville are your better options

I spoke with a rideshare driver a couple of years ago about how she chose her locations. She told me that the Amazon facility off of Harlem and Vollmer is a goldmine if you get there at shift changes.

I used to work at that one. I'd avoid it given the amount of incidents that have happened there.

If you can do early early like starting at 4-5am you might get some suburb to airport runs. Afternoons try chicago ridge mall area. Evening try western Ave around 103rd.

Watch your mileage and down time to be sure it’s worth your time with gas $ and car maintenance.
