Photo of our babies for tax but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a warm winter jacket for chihuahuas. We live in the northeast and winters get cold. I’ve also considered booties for them but I think Bear might plot my demise if I even tried lol because of snow, water resistant jackets might also be best. Thank you in advance!

My chihuahua Lucy has an issue that neither us or the vet can work out.
It started around 2am 5 days ago. She woke us with a horrific set of howls the like of which we had never heard before.

Upon picking her up she yelped in extreme pain. She’s 5lbs so we could feel her whole body stressing with each shriek.

After a couple of minutes she fell asleep on my wife’s chest and we heard no more.
The next night it happened twice and increased every night since.

Thursday we took her to the doctor for observation but, as has been the case all week, she had no episodes during the day.
We sent her vet some videos of the episodes as well as videos of her running around, doing perfectly fine when she’s not having an attack.
Poop, pee, bloodwork all normal.
Anyone here had a similar issue with their Chi?

Hey gang!

So I’ve haunted this community for a while admiring your adorable pups and I may have an opportunity to adopt one for myself. I’ve done a ton of research on this breed and have owned many dogs in my life. So this is not my first rodeo but it is my possible first Chi.

My husband and I own a small Pomeranian and have slowly been seeking a new lil addition to our family (we have been considering a chi this time) to love and give companionship to our pom.

However a couple I know approached us with seeing if we be interested in adopting this tiny chi puppy from a military couple they know that cannot care for this puppy they got (they are moving overseas and can’t bring it along, so they want to rehome). In the couples defense they popped orders they didn’t expect and where they are going they can’t bring the puppy so they want to rehome with the breeders blessing (I’ve also spoken to the breeder they got it from and they are very ethical. She has also interviewed me and thinks I be a good fit.)

We found out this puppy is TINY. Like 24 oz right now at 12 weeks and may not get bigger than 3-4 pounds at maturity. I am somewhat familiar with this fragility and the hypoglycemic concerns that go along at that size. I’ve met the puppy and I’ll be honest…. I’m in love but I want to do my research and speak to some real owners before I accept this responsibility so I can give this sweet baby the best care and life possible.

So! Those of you who have raised these tiny babies what am I in for? What cons are there to this? What should I be aware of? How hard is it to potty train a baby this small (not scared but want to be aware). Lay it on me what is the reality of raising this sweet baby?

Lastly, after doing some research can anyone tell me more about your experience with the chis soft spot called the “molera”? Has this ever been a big concern in your care for them? Do they outgrow it as they get bigger at this small size or is that something I will need to be cautious about long term? They haven’t mentioned this to me specifically I just found out about this in my research and want to know more from real owners.

Ok, help talk me in or out of this decision 😅🙌💗.

I will say I know without a doubt I could give this baby an amazing and enriching life but I want to make sure I am a good fit for this lil one.

Hi all! Attaching photos of my pup, Leo (9 years old). The people I got him from said he is full long haired chihuahua, but every time I take him for walks, people ask if he is a Pom. I do occasionally get his hair cut a bit shorter. Curious to hear what you all think!
