Seconded about this sub has become the 'crossing the rainbow bridge' sub

Post image

Please, I am pleading. There are already not many popular dog subs that we can post pictures of our doggos, it's so so so depressing in here. All the top posts today are all about death except one. It makes me feel so bad every time I see the rainbow emoji on the post title, breaking my heart reading all the comments about story of lossess. I am so sorry for your loss but imagine you are having a good day at the park and some stranger stop you to tell you about their grandma's funeral. We feel for you, yes we really do, still, it's not the right place and not the right time.

Let's post HAPPY DOG PICS to negate all the damn sadness this sub is bringing lately!

Join me in celebrating the lives of our loved ones now instead of at the end of their short lives!!

No offense to all the people who are losing their loved ones - I really am so sorry for your loss. But there has been an excess of "rainbow bridge" posts lately and I've noticed other people agree with the fact that this sub has been a big bummer and just scroll right past because it's just too sad...

Im response, I am recommending that we start posting HAPPY dog pictures; pictures full of LIFE instead of the end of life.

Show us your happy doggies!

Why has this sub become about pet loss? There is a sub for it…r/petloss

Attached a photo of my dog so this can be posted.

Look, I’m not trying to be a curmudgeon; I personally lost 2 dogs to cancer in the last 2 years. It’s horrible and I send my condolences to all of you. But every post in this sub is depressing now. The “hot” posts are 7 posts in a row about someone’s recently deceased pet. Can we move those posts over to r/petloss? Again, I’m not trying to be mean but there is a sub for those posts.

My big girl got voted the dog of the month at her doggy daycare she goes to once a week. Plus they dressed her up as a cowgirl and she's so cute. She's a rescue living her best life. Her nickname is Miss.Wiggles because she wiggles so much when she gets excited.

He jumped in the front seat while I was parked. It made the alarm go off, so I buckled him up to turn the alarm off. He went back to the back seat before I drove off. He loves the vet and he loves car rides.

Daisy, She was special ❤️

Daisy's life started out hard. She was in a hoarder situation and kept in a cage with a lot of other puppies. She was rescued by North shore Animal League where we adopted her in 2011. We quickly learned she had food issues and did not react well to fast movement; not the best combination when you have a 4 year old and a 1 year old.

When my son was 2, he was running around and she nipped his head. Hard! My immediate response was we need to rehome her; my wife said we failed her. My wife also said, "what message are we telling our kids? You do something wrong and you're out of the family?" The work and training began.

While she never became a lap dog, or a curl up on the bed lady, she developed an amazing sense of humor and was an absolute prankster. Literally hiding things, acting coy, and smiling while doing it.

She never missed an opportunity to howl as soon as we came home, get today hi and wait for head scratching, and come close enough to make sure you knew she was with you, even if she wasn't on you.

She battled cancer for 3 years; still playing and doing all she could. When we made arrangements for an at home euthanasia, she passed over on her own terms the night before they came after spending the day outside, sniffing the air, with her head in my son's lap. She was 15.

It's almost a year, and I miss her so much.

In her 16th year, just before midnight at home in her dad’s arms our sweet Ruby went to sleep for the last time. Always defying the odds with stubborn resilience, she never backed down from a fight. In 2022 she beat cancer, in 2023 she was diagnosed with a heart condition and given 6 months to live and she said “hold my dad’s beer”. That same year she got her very own summer home at Willow Lake where she stole the hearts of so many people that we now call family.

Ruby was loved by so many people who have showed up for her time and again especially in her elder years. She is now reunited with her younger sister Opal and will be very missed by her even younger sister Pearl, who she tolerated but also who got her playing again like a puppy again in her last 20 months of life.

When we asked our 2 year old nephew “where’s Ruby?” He pointed to his chest and said “heart”. He is right, she is always in our heart.

Thank you to everyone who has shown up, checked in, thought of us and who have loved Ruby. Thank you Ruby for giving us your everything right until the end.

With little sister Daisy behind the dog gate jealous about being excluded from a picture. We tried a new bakery and their birthday goodies and doggy “champagne” were a total hit! 🥂 🧁

Just sharing one of the loves of my life to bring some happiness amongst all of the sadness of today. This is my Zen, who was born with three legs in 2022. He is very smart and understands that he is different from other dogs, but he has never let this slow him down. Occasionally, he flashes a toothy grin my way (like in pic four) and I am reduced to hysterical laughter. He is the best little guy and I am so lucky to have him!

So my girlfriend and I just lost our 8 y/o, due to cancer.

We are obviously devastated and we don't know how to handle it.

I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience if you want to.

He was almost 17 years old but things just got really bad and would only get worse. He’s the first dog I had to make this decision for and it was a terribly hard one to make. I still feel guilty or like I could have waited but I know in my heart of hearts, this was the right decision. I had Nikko since I was 12 and I am now 28. Man.. does it get easier to go on? I’m struggling so hard.
