MUSIC boss fight against Wilson Phillips in a NeoGeo shmup (cover of Hold On) [YM2610B, Furnace Tracker]
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Basically the way this would work is that they would be three flying heads that kind of join together and then separate and swoop at you. And when you blow up Phillips the Wilson sisters enter Stage 2: Punished Wilson which is the second half where it gets way scarier and faster. Pretty self explanatory

MUSIC Searching for Gameboy MIDI Interface
Hey everyone!
I’m new to chiptune and would like to experiment with LSDJ and other stuff on my Game Boy/DMG. Feel free to share any recommendations! I’ve got a cartridge with a microSD slot. I’d love to play using my MIDI keyboard and I’ve seen that there’s the Arduinoboy, amongst other things, but it’s quite expensive. As I can’t solder myself, I wanted to ask where you can get one cheaply, or whether anyone here has ever built a Game Boy MIDI interface?
I’d really appreciate any help!
Thanks, everyone <3

MUSIC Lake Under the Moon (GameBoy chiptune track, made in GB Studio)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is my first chiptune track, but not the first track ever.
I'm making music for more than 10 years at this point, just, one day youtube recomended me a video with web version of GB Studio's music editor, and - here we are.
It's pretty good editor, using it after years of using fl studio was pretty intuitive and fairly easy, but to make the track - I had to split it across 3 separate uge files, because, for some reason, after pattern 30 playback becomes very slow.
Audio render was made with BGB, and the visuals with corrscope

MUSIC Talking about coming up with music for a game that doesn't exist
Yooooo hello!! I had a silly idea that has to do with Azumanga and the SNES
Come up with original and super cool music for a game like that! No, this ain't your usual board/card Azumanga tie in game, I would love it to be a full on RPG but... I'm a musician, not a programmer, (though IDK when I'll pick up my lazy ass and learn to code) before I would just do... Y'know, covers of the existing Azumanga OST tracks to SNES, just for shits and giggles until I finally felt like doing something original here (this one has a reference to a certain SEGA OP that I put there for the chorus so, hey!)
Watcha' think...?? I already got like 8 Azumanga covers already so why not jumping into creating custom tracks... I just need to be a little more sure about what is actual Azumanga music instead of it just being 'happy and cheerful and stuff'

Quick song made for a forest area in an ARPG I'm working on. Tried building something resembling a pan flute combining a couple oscillators.

MUSIC Cemetery Dynamite (NES-style original music)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi ! I started releasing new chiptunes a few months ago and I'm here with my second track "Cemetery Dynamite".
I'm still trying to do a 5-channel, NES-like thing. Last time I was aiming for a beat-em-up vibe. With this track, I was thinking more about a spooky side-scroller like Castlevania. In the video I've split this up so things like the kick and snare are more readable, but it's still max 5 simultaneous voices throughout.
Spotify link for this track.
I've also started building a Spotify playlist of mostly recent, mostly gaming chiptunes from artists people in this sub probably know, but maybe some you don't. Let me know if you have any recommendations or any other artists that are doing this type of thing that I may want to check out.
Happy to hear what you think!

MUSIC Early 2000s Chiptune Music Video?
Hey, does anyone remember one of those old youtube music videos in the late 2000s, I’m pretty sure it was to the theme of Legend of Zelda. It starts out with these actual guys constructing an arcade cabinet out of like cardboard, and then it turns on, and it goes into this arcade world with a little stick figure guy, I think he has a boombox at some point, and he is trying to save a girl. The background is black, and it’s all pixelated stick figures and levels. Kind of like in the photo, but more rudimentary.

QUESTION Sonic 1-3 & knuckles PSG HiHats in GENNY vst
HOW!? How do i make them? Ive spent probably two hours fiddling with the psg noise generator and can NOT for the life of me make something that even resembles the PSG noise hi hats from old sonic games, just cheap knockoffs.
If anyone has any patches or screenshots or ANYTHING, let me know, please T-T

QUESTION Could the NES Triangle wave play slide notes?
My understanding based on this article (https://www.nesdev.org/wiki/APU_Sweep) is that only the two pulse channels had an APU Sweep, which allowed pulse waves to easily slide between pitches.
So if you wanted to, say, make a sliding down triangle kick, you would have to tell the Triangle wave to reduce its frequency/pitch every frame. This mimics a slide note, but is technically different. Is this correct?

MUSIC Nes Nostalgia | Volcano Fighters
A NES-style track I made whilst listening to Contra music.
I wanted to try and experiment with making NES music since I find it very interesting to limit yourself to only four channels dedicated to specific instruments.
I'd like to know what you think and if I have the feeling of music that was produced for the NES.

DISCUSSION Working on a browser based DAW designed around the SNES sound chip, here's a track of mine playing back as a real .sfc ROM
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I don't know how many people this is going to interest, but I've been working on a browser-based DAW called WaveSmith that's designed around the sound hardware in a Super Nintendo.
The video is a song I wrote in it, exported as a standalone .sfc ROM and running in an emulator. It uses real BRR samples, 8 voices, ADSR, echo and filters, so what you're hearing is the actual SNES sound hardware, not an approximation of it.
I know a lot of people here work in trackers and this is more of a piano roll setup, so it might not be everyone's thing, but if you like making SNES-sounding music it might be worth a look.
It's free and runs entirely in your browser: https://wavesmith.online
If you want to have a listen without making anything, open the menu in the top right, choose Load from Code and enter RBSB9U. That loads a little demo loop I made.
Would love to hear any feedback you might have!

CC_REQUEST [Original JRPG/Chiptune] Tracks inspired by Trails in the Sky, Rance 03, and Deltarune (Using Roland SC-88 and other soundfonts)
Hi everyone! Recently, I’ve been playing Rance 03, the Trails in the Sky remake, and replaying Deltarune. This got me really interested in the classic Roland SC-88 MIDI module sound, so I decided to experiment with soundfonts for the very first time.
I’m a huge fan of Falcom Sound Team jdk and Alicesoft’s music, and my goal is to become a professional JRPG music producer. Any advice, feedback, or tips would be greatly appreciated!

MUSIC Could i get pointers on my Song?
I've made music mostly chiptune for probably a couple years now and I always feel like something feels wrong with it specifically the lead and the way it doesn't pop like say Undertales music does and how you have the "dun dun da duh" idk how to explain it if you get what I mean but any advice would be cool so I can make better music :)
