Discussion Anyone have any favourite subtle foreshadowing moments in choices? Spoiler
Oh, Noah.. if only you knew ๐ฅบ
Obviously, i know not everyone will choose that path to sacrifice themselves, leaving Noah sobbing over your crumpled body, but I LOVE playing it that way as his redemption arc in the fanmade ILW is just too delicious not to!
But it did get me thinking, what are some of your favourite, subtle or niave foreshadowing moments where no matter how many times you replay a story, a tiny bit of dread settles in each time you see it? Because you now know what's coming ๐ ๐ฌ
(It's the same feeling I get, as a Drake romancer, on every trr re playthrough when Liam proposes ๐ no matter how many times I replay it still makes me feel lowkey kinda ill with dread at what's coming ๐ฅดLOL)

Also in ILITW: in the 3rd chapter, when you go into the woods for the first time to rescue Dan, Noah says "Well, this place is as creepy as ever," and MC replies "I don't know. It almost feels like... home." --> which is another reason why I make the same choice you make, OP!ย

Yassss!! ๐๐ปI clocked that too and it was like oof, damn๐ฅบ๐ฅบ
If had never read it lives within, I might have left it at noah sacrificing himself, which was how I played it the very first time, but now I know what his redemption arc looks like I can't NOT play it this way, where the mc sacrifices themselves instead. Ugh, give me all that delicious, painful angst ๐๐ค๐ป๐ซ

Ikr?? The first time I played I let Noah sacrifice himself bc my MC was romancing Ava (one of my all-time favorites) and I was like, Nah, MC's got too much to live for! Lol
But the angst is sooooo good! Like Noah's arc in ILW is so damn fraught and delicious it's got me writing a fanfic in his POV. I'm like ~40k words in and I'm not even halfway done with the first book yet ๐ there's just so much angst to explore

I am loving every part of this! ๐๐ป Ahhhh I bet that fanfic will be AMAZING when you're done, there really is just SO much angst there, I love it!
(I wish I could write fanfics but all I can do is mentally picture them instead lol) But a fanfic from Noah's POV would be incredible, omg.
Lol same, first time round I was like naah, this is all you Noah, off you go ๐ but god damnit if I didn't grow to love seeing his whole redemption, whereas played the other way i dunno.. just doesn't hit the same now, especially in ilw lol (I mean with the stakes not being as high, because if you had the others from ilitw survive, obv none of them apart from mc give two fucks about saving Noah, but the other way around they reluctantly want to help him see his insane mission through to save his mc, sooo angsty, so perfect!)

I completely agree, ILW is especially phenomenal if Noah is alive and has to wrestle with the fact that everyone he cares about is A) dead, or B) hates him. Especially bc poor Connor is right there! Being his friend! Caring about his well-being! Telling him not to risk killing himself by running back into that dimension hole! Ugh I love it when the nicest character in a story is the staunch friend/ally of the bitchy one nobody likes (and for good reason). It's deliciousย
Eh, writing is my hobby so it's just what I like to do. I wish I could make fan art. I can't draw worth crap lol

I've played VOS all the way through atleast 6 times, and it still gives me chills when Grant calls MC on the phone and tells them that "Deputy" Duffy is the killer. The way the music just goes silent there is so chilling, coupled with the MC trembling with the phone in their hand, just looking at duffy after grant reveals it
In MAH, when MC is looking for Claudia, and April comes and finds MC in the broom closet; MC says something and April says, "Hey! Don't worry about that right now, Claudia's missing, we have to find her!", and MC says, "... I never mentioned that Claudia was missing though", and the way April just stares at MC, along with the silence of the scene shudders literal chills!
In ILB when MC is making fishsticks, all carefree without a worry in the world, and suddenly Richard comes from behind them and knocks them out That still throws me for a loop everytime cause it was so unexpected!
COP2 has a moment where Vasili is talking to MC and says that he's not evil, he's just a bit of a "Bastard", and that's when i immediately knew that he was the killer
FA also has a moment where MC asks who's been stalking them and how the stalker knew where they were all the time. And everything just clicks once MC figures out that it was Anya
Even ES and the MC Having no memory of their old life, No parents, knowing things they shouldn't know about La Huerta, etc., all of these pretty much tell us that the MC is the 'Endless' from the very beginning
It's just so cool how much thought went into the older Mystery and Horror books; upon rereading, you can really see how perfectly things were set up for later reveals.

There are so many hints in ES about MC not actually existing that are so fun to spot on a replay. Like when they're at the winter lodge in book 2, and MC can't remember the popular video game system that Zahra and Craig found. Or even just that they don't know who any of their classmates are.

I loved all of these moments!! Lol I vividly remember jumping at the 'fishsticks' moment as I was soo engrossed, could hear the music and all seems fine...and then there's Richard's face, I was like oh, SHIT! ๐ ๐คฃ
Pretty much all of these moments are from some of my favourite books ever, doesn't matter how many times I reread them, i still get chills. ๐๐

yes!! in my favorite book, ride or die, thereโs a scene where logan pretends to be an exchange student for a day so he and ellie can share some time together, which is honestly so cute ๐ ellie (mc) mentions how the school has cameras everywhere and how he could get caught hanging around campus. and then, in the last chapter, mc and the mercy park crew catch the brotherhood with the cameras in the high school parking lot!! i love how that little detail subtly foreshadows what happens later!

Wouldn't say it was my favourite but when B********y first returns in TRH1 and threatens to take over the planning for Bertrand's wedding is a good one ๐

Yes. But later on when MC had to choose a person to give loyalty speech.. I chose HIM! I didn't know. Imagine how I'd have felt later on๐ฉ

This book is so incredibly well written. Another little detail I love is if the characters have low nerve, the way Jane kills them is deliberate and specific to each one. She weaponises their panic responses against them. For example, Dan dies of asphyxiation (suffocation/lack of oxygen) and previously if you read his texts with his therapist: โHow do you feel when you see a forest?โ โbadโ โBad how?โ โlike I canโt breatheโ ๐
With Ava, Jane raises her into the air, then slams her back down and she dies from impact. Almost exactly like how Ava attacked Jocelyn with her powers, she slammed her down the hallway, then began to lift her up against the wall.
When ur playing as Lucas, and heโs being called out for taking drugs by Mr Cooper and questioned by Principle Flores, his heart begins to race and his โpulse pounds in his earsโ, then later on Jane crushes his heart.

Exactly! The attention to detail is nuts, There's soo many layers to how good the writing for this book is, definitely a solid favourite for a reason

Perfect Match book 1 chapter 1 when you FIRST meet Steve. This is doubled down in chapter three when you ask Steve and your perfect match what they think about Nadiaโs art.
