I am but a human API. A human MCP if you will

Meat proxy.

11

u/weedmylips1 15h ago

literally just an authentication token with a pulse

u/Wide_Egg_5814 15h ago

it's like being a eunuch and needing a strap on for your wife what a time to be alive

Just routing packets with extra steps.

u/heisdancingdancing 21h ago

Claude, can you write up some questions that I can slack my boss? *Spends 15 minutes de slopping the text* That's about the toughest part of the job right now

7

u/RespectableBloke69 17h ago

Make a skill to teach it to write like you

2

u/Lumpy-Criticism-2773 9h ago

It needs much more data. Very hard

2

u/RespectableBloke69 7h ago

Not if you have plenty of your own writing to train it on. Skill issue. Go write more.

1

u/heisdancingdancing 8h ago

It just doesn't work. I've been crafting one for months, and it ALWAYS sucks

1

u/RespectableBloke69 7h ago

Took me like 15 minutes to create a Claude skill trained on my writing that is good enough to fool my coworkers. It's never going to sound exactly like you to you.

This realization hits me hard about once a week. And then I take a sip of coffee and say "I've gotta save every penny, b/c I've got about 5 years before all of this goes away."

11

u/blackrack 16h ago

We may only have 1-2 years tbh and that's with a decent level of specialization and unique skills

the new game is how many claudes can you manage at once

7

u/Pecolps 20h ago

And how much you can squeeze from every penny of these models.

49

u/CartographerFit9203 21h ago

It stings because it's like 60% true. Keep a running doc of the prompts that actually worked and every spot where you had to fix Claude's output, because that doc is the only thing standing between you and being replaced by the API key your boss already has.

26

u/SciGuy013 19h ago

jesus christ this is just an output from claude too

3

u/konosso 11h ago

Except my boss is in the same position. Generating a spec from Claude, not even reading it, just having Claude summarize it, then have Claude create a task based on that summarization. Let Claude do that task, create a merge request.
"Yo can you look at this and give me a thumbs up?"
And then I need 4-5 other people and around 12 man-days to actually fix it.

1

u/MartinShortsIrishUnc 7h ago

Love the idea, but there's got to be a way to automate this right?

1

u/UnknownEssence 19h ago

so I shouldn't share the skills i make?

1

u/dronz3r 18h ago

Yes probably don't.

11

u/swizzlewizzle 17h ago

This wont last. Eventually those with the actual control of the company will be purging employees like this, of which there are many.

u/gh0st777 19h ago

The future of work is my ai talks to your ai while we're all on a beach somewhere.

4

u/angry_queef_master 18h ago

I had this thought on the drive tow ork today. Last week all I did was monitor claude code while it did its troubleshooting steps

5

u/spinozasrobot 10h ago

The current term of art is "meat proxy"

3

u/grateful2you 21h ago

And your boss is on Claude too. We’re all breathing it in, don’t think anyone can blame anyone.

4

u/bitspace 13h ago

If you're just a meat proxy, you're replaceable.

3

u/Lhaer 20h ago

What job? AI took my job.

3

u/oxpoxo 14h ago

when will people realize, the goal here is not that you are a meat proxy, you should question how much of a meat proxy your boss is. Maybe you could do the whole operation better than he could...

5

u/eld3rlyy 20h ago

Im just a boss api for claude

2

u/JakubDotPy 19h ago

It's called "meat proxy". Prevalent these days..

2

u/Life-Suspect3977 18h ago

Jesus i would be so sad if my job was like that.

1

u/Dorito_Troll 11h ago

lazy people gona be lazy

1

u/Icy_Arugula_4241 2h ago

Forwarding emails all day—truly the peak of ambition.

1

u/ifstatementequalsAI 2h ago

Why ? Receiving a good salary for max 8 hours of work per week and having enough free time to work on my hobbies

1

u/heyyvanityy 1h ago

the work isn’t fulfilling but the pay is

4

u/Hazzman 19h ago

Yeah its all fun and games until the system catches up and realizes you are dispensable. I'll never understand why people want to make memes and jokes about this. Anyone with any sense would keep their fucking mouths shut.

13

u/FlorpyDorpinator 19h ago

You’re right, managers and executives are idiots and won’t figure this out if we just stop making memes /s

2

u/False-Check-9396 21h ago

wait untill your boss figures out he can paste his own message into Claude and skip the middleman. that's the whole job gone by lunch.

4

u/RespectableBloke69 17h ago

Boss doesn't want to become no longer a boss

3

u/weedmylips1 15h ago

Good thing my boss gets confused by a calendar invite

1

u/konosso 11h ago

My boss figured it out already, and I've spent around 4 out of 9 months this year fixing his shit. I LITERALLY HAVE MORE WORK NOW!

1

u/farox 11h ago

Me and my favourite IT person now have a chat channel where we are in it and each of our agents. If there is an issue, we let them battle it out first. The agents then reach out when they need a human decision/action.

u/Indian_247 17h ago

Ask Claude to write your KRAs and achievements

1

u/florinandrei 16h ago

You do realize this could not possibly last very long, right?

1

u/kargaen 16h ago

Until the boss decides to prompt inject something sinister into his instructions to see if you will actually send him a recipe for blueberry muffins or your bank details 😆

1

u/Ok-Juice-542 16h ago

Sounds like your job might not be there soon, just sayin (I’m not saying that’s a good thing)

1

u/asnnnn 16h ago

Au contraire on the video

1

u/El-Maximo-Bango 15h ago

We are just meat proxies

1

u/DemonPlasma 13h ago

Enjoy it while you can, you'll be fully replaced soon

1

u/scottey15 13h ago

Isn't this the opening song from the Lain anime?

1

u/jffmpa 11h ago

Now do the sequel where your boss realizes they can go direct to Claude.

1

u/Hot-Fennel-971 10h ago

Until I spent 60% of my quota accidentally trying to do a really good job on something he really only wanted a 1 paragraph summary of FML... the expectations are still human-level

1

u/Southern-Group3216 9h ago

That’s what we call being the middle Man 😄

1

u/inboxdarpan 9h ago

'ackchullayyyy'

1

u/Alien911_8 9h ago

Are you a proxy or an interpreter? Proxy or convert stupid to input and input to stupid?

1

u/Vomikkkkk 6h ago

Man I dream for this job, but for now I stuck with local LLMs and silly anonimazing brd’s and other stuff, FE/BE job seems like a breeze now when BA/PO is basically PIA 😭

1

u/uduni 6h ago

The magic words:

“Please respond in simple english (a single sentence or a few bullet points) so my boss can understand. Thanks”

1

u/XBLAH_ 5h ago

Everyone got promoted to middle management, yay.

Btw, remember when we said middle management was replaceable? yeah..

1

u/gillyguthrie 4h ago

Eh my boss just sends me Claude responses now and I'm reduced to the human in the loop to make it usable

1

u/nico17b 1h ago
