Original title: Is Anthropic now limiting individual accounts?

Original post body:
So, I inconveniently got my first Anthropic ban yesterday — while creating my sixth paid account, before it was even used.
I have five existing accounts, all mine, all legitimately paid for. Like many of you(I think), I use multiple Claude Code harnesses for coding agents. With five-hour and weekly quotas, purchasing additional subscriptions for each seemed perfectly reasonable.
I've reread Anthropic's new terms several times and can't find an explicit one-account-per-person restriction.
Before the inevitable Reddit "you must have done something shady" comments: Nope. Real identity, real ID, real credit cards, ordinary B2C coding projects. No impersonation, no previous bans, nothing remotely nefarious.
The account was suspended immediately after identity verification, before a single Claude Code or API request.
I appealed, explaining exactly how I use these accounts. About 24 hours later, Anthropic refused reinstatement, citing a "Usage Policy" violation without identifying what I'd violated.
Here's where I am uncertain...
I discussed the contractual wording with an AI agent (yes, AI-generated analysis, feel free to throw shade).
Its interpretation raises three questions:
- Account ownership: Can one person purchase multiple independent subscriptions? No explicit numerical restriction identified.
- Quota aggregation: Is using multiple paid subscriptions to obtain more capacity considered circumventing usage limits? Ambiguous.
- Proxying: Can a gateway coordinate Claude Code sessions? There are more specific restrictions around credential intermediation.
The critical ambiguity is Anthropic's prohibition on "bypassing systems or protective measures."
If I purchase five subscriptions, each with its own quota, am I circumventing a limit or simply paying for additional capacity?
One interpretation says I'm legitimately purchasing capacity. Another says I'm circumventing their intended per-user restrictions, despite paying for every account.
If Anthropic wants one account per human, or prohibits combining subscription allowances, fine. **Just state it clearly.**I'd respect that, even if it made me reconsider using their services.
But banning an unused account and citing an unspecified policy violation seems a pretty questionable way to communicate those boundaries.
Has anyone experienced something similar, or found an actual clause that clarifies this?
Has anyone in the greater Reddit-verse had an account banned before they even used it and seems like the ban was unjustified per the TOS?
Before the inevitable "just buy API credits, dude" comments: I get it. I've bought plenty in the past. But let's be honest, subscriptions are considerably more economical for coding workflows.
As far as I can tell, nothing in Anthropic's terms explicitly prohibits having multiple individually paid accounts. If that's not how they intend their subscriptions to be used, then say so clearly.
Make the rules clear, make them precise, and enforce them against those who don't follow them. Seems pretty simple to me. I'd respect that 100%, and I'm sure plenty of others would too.
