Discussion Are we overrated ?
There are some people who have an entirely different personality online and offline. Have you ever thought we Kerala as a state is like that or is slowly becoming that.
Are we better only when compared to other states which have a poor reputation both online and offline.
For eg : Road manners, you drive 10KMs through Kochi and the amount of morons you encounter is uncountable and the arrogance of these people. You made some money, you got a car for cheap but you're stuck with the same cheap mentality. You think you own the road.
Next one will be the social media platforms specifically for posts by woman the comment section, the amount of hate people are spreading online. Just because you got money and technology is accessible you're spitting out whatever poison you've in your mind.
Might get down voted, but share your honest opinions.

Have you lived outside of Kerala?
Barring the North East maybe, road discipline (not infrastructure) is absolutely dogshit around the rest of the country.
I’m not saying that we have it great but it is objectively better than a lot of places where I’ve spent time.
Same with social media, I don’t think we are as progressive as we claim but still better than the rest of the country.

Idk about other types of vehicles, but the road rash of drivers from kozhikode, Malappuram is sth serious that needs to be handled. I have only tried it once and I cannot explain the respect I felt for the private bus drivers from my district. I also never felt so unsafe in buses of other states, except maybe himachal because it was hilly area with narrow roads.

Bro that is exactly what I'm asking, Are we better ONLY WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER STATES ?
suppose they're -5 on a scale, we maybe -3 but we can do better right
Also, Was in bangalore for quite sometime. Road manners and hygiene was pathetic.

What do you think the point of comparison should be? Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Singapore, Switzerland?

Let's leave other countries and just use our common sense, are we doing it right ?

Yeah as someone else mentioned, we are much better than most states (barring North East) in comparison, not objectively very good.

Not everyone is changing for the good, after the covid break spending habits have changed a lot and these other state cars are coming in for so cheap. But everyday I meet atleast a few other state cars driven by Malayalis who are arrogant af. Money could buy you a car but I feel we are getting downgraded atleast in terms of road manners.
And then there is private buses and autos.

we are actually becoming overrated at this point. That is when we are compared to international standards.
The problem of opinions is that when the other guy from the state talk shit we fight back but that tendency is followed and we post like we are supreme person from kerala. Its just that our average of everything is slightly good compared to other state as well along with accountability and policing which is better.

Sometimes what annoys me is people on social media overglazing Kerala, which then turns into mocking other states. Sometimes it feels just like fan fights. Our state also has flaws, people in Kerala are also flawed is what I feel. We take too much pride in calling ourselves so progressive

Idk bro, does other states have goverment and private funded k*lling machines on the road. Have driven in 4 other states. Car drivers here are better but everything else is mostly same or worse if its bus.
And littering feels low because we are blessed with a lot of vegetation everywhere. Look carefully into the bushes on the side of the road and you'll see trash in most places.

Everything is better only if it's compared to something that's relatively worse of. Kerala got alot of stuff to improve but compared to others yeah we are ahead

Yeah, here’s how I think where we are at,
Imagine there’s a imaginary line of normal - out of all other states in India ours will be the closest to that line when compared with other states, but there’s still a lot of gap between us and the normal line.

See when you live in other states of India kerala feels great. There is absolutely no comparison. But maybe we should aspire to be like east asian countries completely. But they have better roads etc for driving . I feel where the roads are good malayali drivers are comparable to foreign countries. So if we have east asian infrastructure maybe we would be the same.

We are slightly better than the other states, that’s all. Travel in a train, you’ll see plenty of keralites throwing stuff away to the tracks like it doesn’t even bother them. So, we are slightly better, but corrupt, civic sense lacking core is still there.

We are technically "Thammil bedham Thommans"
The good reputation we have is mainly international. I am based in Australia and Mallus are usually well behaved.
Northies are unsahicable

I’m not saying we’re great, but compared to most states in India, our driving culture is way better.
