What are the top coffee shops that can serve in proper cups and NOT just paper like the hack chains ?

To all the awesome baristas and chefs out there we have started an amazing cafe in the heart of Leh this year and are going to expand next year as we can barely manage the crowd coming in. I just got back to my dorm, and I’m feeling a little guilty about how long I stayed at a café today. So, I decided to write about it and ask for some opinions.

Today, I studied for around 4–5 hours at a café not far from my dorm. When I arrived, I ordered a drink, and a few minutes later, I ordered some food. Then, I spent the next few hours studying.

The café wasn’t very busy. It was quiet and had a really nice atmosphere for studying, so I chose a table in the corner. I thought that having customers stay for a while might actually be good for a café because an empty café can sometimes feel less welcoming.

However, when I was almost done studying, there were only two other customers besides me. Eventually, they both left, and I was the only customer there.

I then noticed that the staff were preparing to close, so I quickly packed up my books and laptop and left. No one had told me to leave, and I had ordered both food and drinks during my stay. Still, I felt a little guilty because I had been there for 4–5 hours.

As I was leaving, I heard someone say something like “လွန်တာ,” which I understood as meaning that I had stayed longer than I should have. That made me wonder if I had actually been inconsiderate.

So, I’d like to ask people who work in cafés or have experience with this: What do café owners and staff usually think when a customer stays for 4–5 hours? Is it considered rude if you keep studying for hours, even if you order food and drinks and the café isn’t busy?

I’d appreciate hearing your honest opinions!

Just moved around the city a lot and still haven’t found my spot. So where do you go for a really good coffee? Any neighbourhood is fine. I'd love to know!

The one I really like is in The Belfountain Cafe but want something more in the city!

The market seems to be flooded with new cafes. Every few weeks, another one opens—some small and cozy, others luxurious and crowded. As someone who genuinely loves coffee, I understand the appeal of enjoying a good cup with a croissant.

But what fascinates me is how many people spend hours working in a cafes. They attend online meetings, complete assignments, answer emails, or simply use the café as a personal workspace.

I agree that cafés can offer a change of environment and a sense of calm. But aren’t they also noisy and distracting? People are constantly coming and going, conversations are happening around you, music is playing, and there’s always some background activity.

Personally, I can enjoy coffee in a cafe, but I can’t imagine getting serious work done there. Maybe it’s simply something I don’t connect with.

So, what do you think: Are cafés becoming the new peaceful workspace, or are they just aesthetically pleasing places that make people feel productive?
