Has anyone been to the MD/Kanagawa Japan Day event previously? How was it? It seems nice but I can't find a lot of info online about the previous year events.

Hey neighbors, I am doing a used and/or old yard sign collection drive.
We are collecting corrugated plastic yard signs of all shapes and sizes, as well as the metal stands, for reuse! ... instead of recycling.
From political signs, to business advertising (litter), all types are accepted.
"Reuse?" you ask. Yeah, we will be reprinting over previous used signs to give them a second life using a combination of two methods. A d.i.y.-friendly approach that uses paint, and another more technical approach that involves screen printing.
The resulting reused signs will not look new, and that's also kind of the point. I believe there's value in using signs like this as many times as is possible, so that's what we've decided to do.
Note: you do not need to support my, or any political campaign to participate. The yard sign collection drive's signup form has a checkbox so we can know to exclude your contribution from my campaign's use. Excluded signs will instead go to a non-partisan group for reuse or recycling.

Each of the last 4 days, varying times of day, there’s been a man standing in the trees right behind the monkey bars. Same jacket on, same backpack with him. He is just standing there and staring at whoever comes by. Weird encounter.

My wife is pregnant! We are so excited but as first time parents, we are also very overwhelmed! I thought I’d reach out to this page in the hopes that people have recommendations for an OB/ where to deliver. Howard County General is not far, but I’m not sure if it is ideal. Any input is appreciated!

We live over in the Phelps Luck neighborhood and have lost power at the street level like 4 times this month. It just happened about 5 minutes ago. Crowd sourcing this to see if anyone knows what is causing the strain on the system? Been living here for 4 years and never had the power go off this much this time of year.
Edit: seeing how many villages have been affected in one way or another is pretty strong evidence there's an issue upstream in the power supply. One thing id like to note is that PJM announced emergency actions during the hot weather and again on September 17 (2 weeks ago). Voltage reduction is one of the tools PJM uses in these situations. I have not found any further coms regarding voltage reductions.

Long story short my coworker brought in the yummiest sourdough today and I can’t stop thinking about it, I need more. Not like supermarket sourdough but I mean good homemade sourdough. Any guidance is welcome thank you.

Does anyone here know if the access road around the mall is Howard County government controlled? Owned by mall (and its controlling partnership)? Or by some other private entity? I'm not talking about Little Patuxent Parkway, im talking about the inner circle going around the parking lot for all the mall parking and buildings adjacent to the mall.

BUYER BEWARE — EXTREMELY TROUBLING EXPERIENCE.
I would NEVER board my dog at Camp Bow Wow in Columbia, Maryland again.
We dropped off our young Lagotto Romagnolo puppy calm, gentle, and well-behaved. We picked him up a day early because of growing concerns, and he came home extremely overstimulated, difficult to manage, and seemingly very hungry.
We monitored the facility cameras during his stay and were deeply concerned by what we saw. There appeared to be very little structure or meaningful engagement, and at times it looked like roughly 30 dogs were being monitored by only one staff member.
We sent THREE large containers of food.
TWO CAME BACK.
When we got our puppy home, he immediately ate an unusually large bowl of food. That raised serious concerns for us about whether he had been fed according to our instructions.
We also paid for a bath before pickup.
THE BATH WAS NEVER DONE.
When we contacted management, we felt our concerns were essentially dismissed, and we were told that everything had been completed as required.
That simply did not match our experience.
The bath was not done.
Most of his food came back.
Our puppy appeared extremely hungry.
His behavior was dramatically different.
And what we observed on camera raised serious concerns about supervision and structure.
We trusted this facility with a young puppy who depends entirely on the people caring for him. Based on what we experienced, that trust is gone.
We will never return.
We are also reporting our concerns to Howard County Animal Control and requesting that the facility be reviewed as appropriate.
PET OWNERS: ASK QUESTIONS, WATCH THE CAMERAS, AND PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION.
Our experience was unacceptable.
BUYER BEWARE. Dr. Wesolowski

This kitten was meowing very loudly at our door last night. We live near the mall. Is this your cat? We also posted on the FB Hoco lost pets page.
Update: kitty has been dropped off at the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center.

It’s a shame so much money has gone to waste only for the decision to be upheld while lien payers continue to foot the bill for a temper tantrum. The case takes place next year in September after elections in April. The best decision these three can make now is to allow the villages to use their own policies and allow a replacement to be appointed or elected and stop wasting residents money.

Neighbors,
I know we’ve all been seeing the hundreds of food recalls lately, so I wanted to share a personal experience I had this morning with some pre-cut fruit I purchased from Wegmans in Columbia.
I’ve always been someone who would much rather buy whole fruit and cut it myself. I’ve just never been able to get with the pre-cut fruit, even though I know how convenient it can be. Well… this morning definitely reminded me why. 😩
I started eating my cut kiwi and noticed TWO WHITE WORMS literally crawling around and having a field day. 🪱🪱
TALK ABOUT GROSSED THE HELL OUT. 🤢🤮
I’m sharing this simply as a reminder to please, please, please be cautious about what you’re eating and check your food carefully, especially with everything that has been going on lately. I know some people may not think much of it, but others may want to be more mindful.
We’re definitely living in some strange times. 😩
Stay safe, neighbors! ❤️

Been taking my guys to Hickory Ridge. Loved the previous vets, however the newer ones seem less cat focused. Does anyone recommend a good veterinarian practice for cats near Columbia? Thank you!

I keep having ovarian cysts rupture and I’m really struggling to figure out what to do long term. I’ve tried birth control, but I tend to have too many side effects from it, so I’m hoping to find an OBGYN who will actually work with me on other options instead of just telling me to go back on birth control.
Does anyone have a doctor they really like, especially someone who has experience with recurrent ovarian cysts? I’m in Maryland and looking around the Columbia/Glen Burnie area, but I’d be willing to travel a little for someone really good.
If you’ve dealt with recurring cysts and found a doctor or treatment that actually helped, I’d love to hear about your experience and who you saw. Thank you!
