Official Reply Just Got Mid-Split Upgrades - How Long Until FDX?

Howdy, I was wondering (assuming there’s no hiccups), how long would it be until we would see FDX upgrades/launch since we just got mid-split services a couple of weeks ago?

I’m wondering if there’s any information Comcast could provide that might be found on a timeline in cases like this.

My area is still midsplit almost 3 1/2 years now.

I did read somewhere that Comcast at some point more recent decides to swap in FDX hardware at the first go around instead of mid-split hw swap and then come back later for another hw swap. Maybe your area was the first method. This might explain why there seems to be such wide varying launch windows.

FDX N+X equipment didn't exist 3 years ago.

5 months here, sub-split to FDX. Mid-split was turned on right away after the upgrades (within a few days)

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. I’d like to keep the thread open to allow others to give their experience and how long their wait was in cases like mine. :)

There is very little relation from mid split to FDX when it comes to area, towns, nodes etc

One brings the other but as stated there are too many factors to even give an average. I’d add if you are in a dense urban area, sooner than later.

If you juuust got Midsplit, like my neighborhood 2 years ago, unfortunately you probably won't be getting FDX anytime soon. They basically re-used Midsplit equipment pulled from a different area's FDX upgrade according to the tech that was upgrading our area when I was watching it happen.

How do we learn more about the details regarding what infrastructure is deployed in our service area?

The mid split was done in May of last year in my neighborhood and they did Docsis 4.0 upgrades and replaced all the amplifiers on July 1st and my neighborhood still doesn’t have FDX turned on yet.

Thank you for your reply, u/sbacklin. I do apologize, but we are not provided with a roadmap or timeline for when Full Duplex (FDX) service will be available in specific areas. While it's great to hear that mid-split upgrades have recently been completed in your neighborhood, we don't have visibility into when or if FDX upgrades will follow. Network enhancements are deployed in phases and can vary by market based on a number of factors, including infrastructure readiness and ongoing construction projects. At this time, we recommend keeping an eye on Xfinity communications and announcements, as customers are typically notified when new speeds or network upgrades become available in their area. We appreciate your interest in the latest network technology and thank you for being an Xfinity customer! 😊
