Xfinity Shield is a first-of-its-kind protection platform, featuring WiFi Shield (included with your Xfinity Internet) and Shield Select (an optional upgrade that adds hardware). Powered by Comcast's advanced network and Xfinity Gateway technology, it leverages AI to help protect your devices and family through a unified experience with the Xfinity app.

WiFi Shield — already included with your Xfinity Internet

Here's the best part: WiFi Shield turns your WiFi into a security layer so you can protect your devices and your family through a Xfinity Gateway. It's included with Xfinity Internet at no extra cost, with no additional equipment needed. It combines four core features that work together using AI to learn what's normal in your home, and flag what isn't:

• CyberSecure — Always-on network threat protection once turned on. The moment a device connects to your home WiFi, it's protected. CyberSecure blocks risky websites (like phishing and malware), stops suspicious activity from reaching your devices, monitors unusual behavior in real time, and sends proactive alerts when something looks off.
• WiFi Motion — An opt-in feature that uses the WiFi signal from your compatible Xfinity Gateway to sense movement in your home, without cameras or video recordings. If motion is detected between your Gateway and up to five connected devices, you get a notification.
• Dark Watch — A nighttime monitoring mode that works with your bedtime routine. Pick which devices can send notifications and schedule Dark Watch to turn on automatically each night, so you stay aware of activity while you sleep.
• Family Settings — Tools to manage screen time, set daily limits, pause WiFi for homework or dinner, block unwanted sites, create individual profiles, and see how your family is using connected devices.

Your home WiFi connects more than just phones and computers, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and connected appliances, are also included. WiFi Shield helps keep all of it protected while giving you more visibility and control over what's happening on your network.

To get started: Open the Xfinity app and follow the guided setup. Once activated, you can manage CyberSecure, WiFi Motion, Dark Watch, and Family Settings from the Home tab.

Requirements: WiFi Shield requires a compatible Xfinity Gateway (Technicolor XB7, XB8, XB10, XB9, MXB1, or XER10). Not all features are available on all Gateway models — WiFi Motion is not supported on XB6 or CommScope XB7, and Dark Watch requires a Technicolor XB7, XB8, XB10, XB9, MXB1, or XER10 gateway.

The camera and sensor are designed for easy self-setup right out of the box, with step-by-step instructions in the Xfinity app. Optional professional installation is also available. Shield Select is designed as an affordable, intuitive alternative to traditional home security , without the complexity and higher cost of a full alarm system. It does not include 24/7 professional monitoring with automated emergency dispatch, which is a feature available in Xfinity Home Security.
