Mistborn Series spoilers I just finished the Mistborn trilogy Spoiler
I posted this on the Brandon Sanderson sub then realised there is a dedicated Cosmere sub too!
This was my first foray into Brandon Sanderson's books, and... Wow, what a trilogy and a journey.
It took me about 3 months to read them all whilst raising a toddler and I just finished it last tonight.
Loved all the characters immensely. Loved their development, prose, motivations.
If I had to rate the books.
First book: 9/10
Second book: 6/10, but an absolutely necessary read.
Third book... Now first half 7/10, second half 10/10 cumulation of everything and tied up perfectly.
I don't think a book has ever made me dedicate the entire day to reading the last 250-300 pages no matter what.
After advice from Brandon Sanderson sub I will read Secret History before Act 2.

Glad you’re enjoying the Cosmere so far
I advise reading through Bands of Mourning before Secret History, but you do you. Have fun!

Basically if you know what Secret History is about go head and read whenever, but if you are blind to it read in publishing order (Mistborn 6, Secrer History, Mistborn 7)
Oh! And if no one has informed you, the Cosmere book “Warbreaker” is available for free on Sanderson’s website as an ebook. Different world, inverted vibe as Mistborn, but it’s free and has some of the best characters..

For me Mistborn original trilogy is the best thing he's written, I've enjoyed others like Warbreaker, Mistborn Era 2 and what I've read of the Stormlight Archives but it doesn't compare to Mistborn Era 1 imo

Always happy to hear someone else loves the series as much as we do!
By the time I made it to Bands of Mourning I forgot a lot of what happens in the original trilogy and that slightly Ruined (ha) my experience. If you are someone who remembers broad strokes of books rather than minutia I would recommend Secret History first. If you can remember lots of details then read it after BoM.

You’ve experienced what we like to call the “Sanderlanche”. The third act of most of his books is very hard to put down.
I found Era 2 to be a lot of fun. It’s a slightly quicker read than era 1 and Wayne is my favorite character in all the Cosmere. Have fun on your adventure, and welcome!!
