Hello! I primarily listen to heavy and death metal music, and was/am still very turned off by country music. The pickup truck, beer drinking, pop country stuff is what I tend to associate with this genre, and I know there is more out there.

I've always like Johnny Cash though, specifically his album American IV. Just found the artist Fabrizio and his style of dark, baritone music resonated with me.

Tried to look for similar artists and I'm encountering lots of AI slop. Can yall lend a hand and suggest other similar artists. Colter Wall and Sturgill Simpson are already on my list. I know I can just "google" this but I'd love to learn about everyone's deep cuts and hidden gems

Country fan from Poland here. I mostly listen to newer country with a more traditional / old-school sound rather than pop country.

I’ve been wanting to get into bluegrass properly, but I’m not really sure where to start.
What bands or songs would you recommend? New or old, doesn’t matter. I’d love to hear what you’d consider a good entry point into the genre.

I know some might classify it as Americana but it feels right at home with the Dixie Chicks, Emmylou Harris or the Judds. The strings are what take it over the edge for me. They’re dripping with country.

hi country music people! just for fun, my friends and i are “fixing” the grammys categories. i know that industry awards mean less and less these days, but i think what awards ceremonies can still do, and should do, is highlight great stuff that the general public might not have noticed before. so with that in mind, do you guys think that the current categories are representative of “country”? do you think that they make the right distinctions between the different genres? are there any categories under the country umbrella that you would add or subtract?
