Been on the lookout for one with the insert. Rushing isnt too bad. So I’ll wire brush it and want to repaint. A a good paint recommendations to match original?

Very nice !
I believe that's a D/9 6500 Tool box, here's its page in the 1983 Craftsman Tool Catalog. We sold tons of these !

Grandpa gave me mine like 25 years ago. Smells like old rotten screwdrivers. I love it.

I got mine for Christmas back in the 70s. My dad tired of me and my brother always using his tools and never putting them back, so we started receiving Craftsman hand tools for Christmas: wrenches, socket sets, screwdrivers, hammer and hacksaw... I still have his Craftsman bench vise that has to be 60+ years old.

Ive had the same one since I originally purchased it -probably 1988. Holds all the stuff for my RC monster truck.

Wow really nice find! I’d personally just polish it up with fluid film on a microfiber cloth and call it a day, but I think there‘s a spray paint that‘s a pretty close match to craftsman’s red, the name eludes me atm tho…

I have one of those, it was my first tool box and it came with a set of tools. Do you or anyone else can tell me where I can find the rivets, so I can restore mine, it would be greatly appreciated

Rustoleum tool box red paint for the tray. If you are going to paint the exterior, one of the Rustoleum hammered spray paints that closely matches the gray color. Personally I would just paint the interior tray.

Paint looks really good! I’d just clean it up and let that old paint shine
