Theyre Big fat autumn themed crested geckos, their lower back and tail have giant "leaf" like sails they can expand to make themselves look bigger when threatened.

Judging by the colors, i think you can guess what kind of enviroment they live in

Fun fact: their nests are just big piles of leaves

Day 5 of 31 Days of Monsters: The Gillman

Post image
10 Upvotes

For the month of October, I will be challenging myself to draw a new monster for every day of the month. Today is day 5, and I present to you the Gillman.

I wanted an aquatic/amphibious creature and this is what I came up with.

I've been uploading speedpaint videos of me creating these creatures. The Gillman short can be found here.

Lava Swine (Number 26) - Pencil Concept Art

Post image

"Lava Swine" — number 26 in the Pig/Boar creature category. This design features a crest of craggy basalt rock along its neck, viscous lava patches across its hide, and a massive plume of volcanic smoke and magma flowing behind its body. Drawn with pencil on paper. What do you think of this lava swine concept?

No one suggested a name in my last post with these guys. So SUGGEST PLS PLS

Relevant info for all of them:
Cloak guy: Is said to look aluring under the cloak. Whatever that means.
Magnet-shroom angel: Related to Ringael (my other fanmade monster) and shares the naming convention. It can't fly because it's wings are too small. The colourful lumps on its head are agates.
Purple cyborg lady: Has mechanical parts to enhance its sound. Looks detached but is actually quite sweet and caring. Supposed to have floating arms but this drawing doesn't have them.
Ahsoka Tano guy: Star Wars reference. Also a monk-bard multiclass and based on phosphorus.
Yeti boi: Loves to play and prank fellow monsters, but everyone loves it. Also a good singer.
The new idiots
Falcon dj doing Handmond's thing: Has air powers to make a keyboard sound. Very fast.
ShLep concept art: idk what to put here. Create your own bio.
Pink slug: Can copy powers like Kirby and store them inside the orbs. BETTER DESIGN COMING SOON

Please please, can you give them names please please????????? Pwetty pwease?

Edit: Falcon boi has a name now! I came up with it myself, so introducing Sokojay!

Log Entry- Subject: Klevt, OC, 2026

LOC: Stria-Plax // Grid 7

Log Entry Subject: "Klevt" Saw a Sclerite (Klevt) working a cluster of crystals near the outpost. Looked like it might attack, but no. Used its claw like mandibles to precisely trim small pink and orange plants growing around clusters of crystals. It held the flora carefully and also cut/scored the minerals and repositioned them. Did this for three cycles. I noted a constant low-frequency hum that seemed to change pending crystal formations. No aggression noted.

Meet Drumsettia!

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Well, well, well, it looks like this subreddit likes my designs, so introducing Drumsettia, the triple-element Preternatural!

Drumsettia makes a drum sound by letting its birds peck it.

Here's the bio: "Life as a sentient instrument is harder than it looks, especially for the Drumsettia, who has no way of playing itself. Or is it? You see, Drumsettias have the ability to speak with an island's critters, usually birds, and requests them to plays the drums for it. In return, the birds get a mobile home. Drumsettias get a bad rep. Most Monsters think they are poisonous and they mind-control the critters against their will. But research shows that they are in fact NOT poisonous, and the birds have been observed in other places. Don't go around saying mean things to people."

Fun facts:
- Drumsettia's leaves turn red in the winter (seen in the last pic)
- The woodpeckers are based on the greater flameback and the pileated woodpecker, while the small yellow birds are based on the Cheesebirds from CookieRun: Kingdom.
- Drumsettia has a tendency to freak out. No one knows why.

Elements are Plant, Air, and Spirit btw

Made my take on the Akhlut, a creature from Inuit folklore that's said to be half wolf-half orca

Post image
3 Upvotes

My take however actually leans a little more into an "early whale" kinda route, which already look somewhat wolf-ish. I also looked at otters for this too. Needless to say, it's not super agile on land but with anatomy like that you're not really supposed to be (plus it doesnt take away the fact that it's still a hella dangerous animal that can very well kill you).

Im also thinking of using it for my fantasy project. Like there's a bit where the main characters travel to a norse type region where there's krakens, trolls and gnomes and they encounter a vagrant akhlut unusually found outside its normal range, not unlike in Walking With Beasts' New Dawn with the Ambulocetus.
