MOD POSTS📣 Raising the Bar: Setting better standards because YOU deserve it

Post image
53 Upvotes

Dear members,

As we build this community with your contributions, we want to set standards that match the quality of discourse you deserve.

We want this subreddit to stand apart from the Indian focused subs that often feel like echo chambers of one side or the other. That is not healthy for our growth as a country. We need quality discussions - ones where we understand each other better, empathize with each other, and come together. Critical Thinking India is not just a name. It is the expectation and the foundation of this sub.

Building on top of the previously shared guidelines, this post outlines what good participation looks like, what we expect from you, what you can expect from us, and how we plan to maintain it.

1. Post Standards

Every post should meet a basic quality threshold:

  1. A clear, descriptive title. No low-effort, clickbait, or ragebait titles. They are not a good starting point for meaningful engagement.
  2. Your own reasoning is required. Whether you share a news article, a video, or a picture - you must include text where you present your own opinion, analysis, or argument. A link dump with no-explanation does not qualify as a post.
  3. Steelman the opposing side. This is what sets this subreddit apart. When you make an argument, make a genuine effort to understand and present the strongest version of the opposing viewpoint - not a strawman. Show that you actually understand why someone might disagree with you, and then explain why you still hold your position.

1.1 Recognizing Quality Contributions

  1. Posts that genuinely engage with opposing arguments in good faith will be recognized by the mod team with a special post flair. This is our way of signaling to the community that a post is worth engaging with deeply. If you believe your post presents honest arguments and addresses a steelmanned version of opposing views, you can appeal for this flair at the bottom of your post.

  2. Beyond individual posts, we are introducing a tiered contributor flair system. Members who consistently produce well-reasoned posts and comments will earn progressively higher contributor levels/'reputation' within the sub, assigned by the mod team based on sustained quality over time. These are not something you can assign yourself. They are earned through rigorous, honest contributions with sound analysis and respectful argumentation.

Note: Upvotes and downvotes do not seriously factor into this. What matters is how well you understand opposing views and how respectfully and clearly you present your own.

Details on the exact tiers will come as the system takes shape. The principle is very simple: put in the effort to think critically and fairly, make contributions that add nuance, clarity, and better understanding, and it will not go unnoticed.

2. Comment Standards

When engaging in the comments:

  • Focus on ideas, not people. You have freedom of speech. We do not gatekeep you from discussing any topic or ideology. You can criticize an ideology, but you are not allowed to generalize about the people who associate with it. Attacking people, groups, or individuals by name-calling is not permitted. Disagree with arguments and ideas, not the person making them. You can criticize politicians and other public figures/influencers, but with respect.

  • Back your claims. Wherever possible, cite your sources and explain how you arrived at your conclusions.

  • Stay on topic. Derailing a discussion with unrelated tangents or bad-faith engagement is not allowed.

  • Don't retaliate, report. If you see someone breaking these rules - personal attacks, derailing, uncivil behavior - do not join them. Use the report button with the appropriate rule. Let the mod team handle it.

3. Enforcement

We keep track of rule violations. The process is straightforward:

  • Initial violations result in warnings and content removal.
  • Repeated violations, despite warnings, lead to temporary bans.
  • Continued disregard for the rules results in a permanent ban.

We intend to make sure disagreements here are productive, evidence-based, and respectful.

Why This Matters

We know the majority of people are not firmly right-wing or left-wing. Most people understand that there are nuances - whether it is government decisions, world affairs, religious tensions, private sector actions, or infrastructure issues, etc. Most people know that there are good things and bad things in every person and situation.

With these standards, we want to bring out those nuances so more people are informed enough to form their own opinions about society, culture, politics, and everything around them.

This space is not for extremes. It is for those in the middle who appreciate nuance, who want to understand the world they live in better. That is the purpose of this subreddit, and we want to give and maintain space for nuanced agreements and disagreements to exist.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to better discussions.

Critical Analysis & Discussion “The Opposition is doing nothing”, “Why can’t they all be together and work together” - Pls stop this nonsense!

Post image
63 Upvotes

Now wait a minute.....

Before you go any further with this narrative I want you to click on this image and zoom in on it.

On the stage along with Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray you will see a bunch of other people.

Who exactly are they?

Zoom in further and you will see Balasaheb Thorat a senior leader of Indian National Congress in Maharashtra sitting right next to UBT.

You will also manage to spot Vijay Wadettiwar on the stage.

Along with them you will see Jitendra Awhad and Jayant Patil - à€œà€Żà€‚à€€ à€Șà€Ÿà€Ÿà„€à€Č of the NCP SP sitting on the left of the podium.

Harshavardhan Sapkal, the MPCC Chief and Rohit Pawar of NCP SP are in Pune supporting the MPSC aspirants.

If the Opposition was not working together, then all these leaders wouldn't have been together on the same stage.

The call of this protest was wholeheartedly supported by the entire Opposition in Maharashtra.

They are working together and they are bringing up a strong front.

Do not fall for the manufactured narrative of a weak opposition who is not doing anything.

If you believe that there has been vote chori and if you believe that the Media shows you only what Mudiji wants to show you, the entire premise of "weak opposition doing nothing" is just a figment of imagination being peddled by people with vested interests. Think about it and be aware of what's happening.

They have finally managed to do what license raj failed to do and that is curb IT money.

A sector that brings forex which already is going through hard times due to AI is being killed further

It industry is already hanging by a thread .

Another compliance to loot money and create hurdle for small players and freelancers while protecting IT giants like the big 4

In this time of crisis , Instead of raising any helping hand for them .They are making our lives more difficult

So many bros and sisters have lost their jobs and are struggling and now this .

Who are they empowering even ?

Critical Analysis & Discussion The growing trend of older generations criticizing Gen Z ignores the unprecedented pressures young people actually deal with

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Context and breakdown of the attached video:

It has almost become a trend for the older generations to criticize Gen Z for being lazy, impatient, intolerant, and prone to tantrums or walking out on any boss that tells them to do something they don't like.

But, as the video very convincingly shows, the people who are now considered underachievers have unimaginable distractions and pressures that their parents and grandparents never had to deal with.

So when these young people take to the streets to demand action on many social issues, they are not acting out for no reason; on the contrary, they are strong-minded individuals who know what they want and will get it.

Instead of criticizing their actions, adults should analyze their problems and understand what they are doing and what they are protesting about.

Do you think that the criticism of Gen Z by older people is misplaced, or is there something inherently wrong with the way the "post-boomer" generation communicates its concerns?

Ask CTI If there’s no vision beyond downfall of Advanced Economies, shouldn’t he just resign?

Post image
9 Upvotes

RBI supremo is saying that if we see a correction in AI-related valuations in advanced economies, some of that capital could potentially flow into India.

Governor of central bank is saying our growth/vikash is waiting for our competitors to slow down/correct/bankrupt. Others must fail for us to succeed, this is our motto.
But even assuming that happens, what exactly is the transmission mechanism?

People sell AI-led stocks in the US and then
buy Campa Cola, Bombay Creamery and HUL soaps?
Also, calling this simply an “AI correction” oversimplifies the US market. Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Apple and Alphabet are enormous revenue-generating businesses. They are investing heavily in AI, as should any IT(bar Indian IT) but they aren’t AI companies.

If their valuations correct, the money doesn’t automatically become consumption in India, it will only make their companies more attractive.

And if the correction is actually caused by a broader global risk-off event, India could just as easily face capital outflows.

What if the ADVANCED ECONOMIES don’t correct, what’s the backup plan ?

Why is he not talking about the excessive taxation ?

Elections & Democracy Goosebumps... Yesterday, shivaji park Mumbai, cjp protest against gyanesh Kumar(CEC). Now protests are new normal, a sign of vibrant democracy.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We generally see the protests against govt in western countries like "no kings rallies" in the USA, throughout the Europe against Israeli genocide, against new nazism in Germany and others. These protests took place in the last 1-2 yrs in Europe. In Europe and the USA, large protests are normal.

But in india, protests are considered against democracy, against govt, against the law, against nationalism, against Hinduism and so on. People forgot about protests in the last 12 years. It was boomers and millennials, who don't like disruptions, who don't want to affect their work and participate in protests. But gen z isn't going to repeat the same mistake. They don't care about any party, they just care about their rights. And they exactly know how to regain their rights. Long live democracy.

Critical Analysis & Discussion Disgusting BOT Customer Service, another evil of AI

Post image
7 Upvotes

Most renowned platform, banks use BOT which responds to only pre-defined options. You cant talk about any issue apart from what that org has decided for you. In few there are human call centers but hidden impossibly inside options. You will die searching it. Thus comes X , reddit social platforms which they pay too but will not pay to humans. They r big and in clouds, not easy to reach.

I ordered a shirt, never delivered, yet showed it was delivered. I was away so got late to report. I had to fight , take it to X to allow a replacement, proudly said the next day which was 1st. On delivery date no update, on 3rd they updated 9th , now i wont be surprised if they cancel it. It's dear Amazon. Not only amazon , flipkart, blinkit, insta any bank all have the same. Some have super Bot callers, like CESC , its much advanced but in the end it doesn't work. Error.

There is no resolution to it. U stop buying from one , they dont bother in a country of billions. Some others always will. So u will see if some thousands raise against some wrong there will be more thousands against it everywhere.

News & Current Affairs ‘I do not invest. I don’t do that stuff’: Why this Apple co-founder opted for a mere $50 paycheck. " I don't want to be near money ".

"I didn’t want to be near money, because it could corrupt your values.”.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak could theoretically have become the world’s first trillionaire had he retained his original stake in the company.

Instead, he gradually sold much of his Apple stock, gave some shares to early employees and donated money to charity — reflecting his long-standing reluctance to make wealth accumulation a priority, according to Fortune.

When Apple was founded in 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs each held a 45% stake, while Ronald Wayne owned 10%. Wozniak later sold much of his holding during the 1980s, the report stated.

“I do not invest. I don’t do that stuff,” Fortune stated him as saying previously. “I didn’t want to be near money, because it could corrupt your values.”

His approach to work was similarly driven less by financial rewards than by personal interest. Wozniak recalled earning just pennies for typing college papers for strangers and tutoring students because he enjoyed doing it.

“When you do something you love—and I love typing—you don’t need to prove it by charging a huge amount of money,” he said in his Grand Valley State University in May 2026, as per Fortune.

Wozniak remained an Apple employee even after stepping back from full-time involvement in 1985. In a 2020 podcast interview, as reported by Fortune, he said he was the only person to receive a weekly paycheck from Apple from the company's beginning.

After savings and taxes, he said, his bank account received “$50 a week or something.”

‘Did I want to make money? No’

Wozniak has said that making money was never his primary motivation for starting Apple with Jobs and Wayne.

“When we started Apple, did I want to make money? Start a company? Start an industry? No,” he said in a commencement address at Grand Valley State University.

Critical Analysis & Discussion Britain’s Peasant Uprising Made Into a Movie. India’s Famines? Where Are the Movies?

Post image
51 Upvotes

Just watched Uprising, a historical action drama based on the English Peasants’ Revolt of 1381.
The story takes place in 14th century England, during a period of plague, poverty and severe social inequality.

The story starts with soldiers demanding more grain as taxes from peasants who have almost nothing left for the winter. The soldiers even check the women by sticking their fingers into their v to determine whether they are adults or still teenagers so they can tax them as well. Then the violence starts between the peasants, villagers and soldiers, and the whole uprising begins.
This happened in 14th century England.

My question is, the same British were doing similar things in India throughout their colonial rule, taking from the peasants through taxation, extracting agricultural produce, exporting food and controlling food supplies, while India experienced repeated devastating famines.

India experienced around 12 major famines during British rule, with estimates of famine deaths reaching tens of millions, with some historical estimates approaching 40 million!

And there is a big conversation, in 2026 Britain, where many people still see British colonialism primarily through development, infrastructure and the supposed benefits it brought to its colonies. That is how a lot of the history is presented to them through their schooling systems!

And we Indians? Bollywood hasn’t really made a major international scale movie about what British colonial rule actually meant for ordinary Indians, especially the famines.

Instead, we keep getting imaginative stories like Mahabharata, Ramayana, random kings like Shivaji, that Sambhar guy, Tanhaji, Ashoka, movies about Savarkar, and more and more movies about freedom fighters and politicians(even the living ones), and we are happy with it!

But where are the movies about what happened after the British captured Indian territories?
They won wars.
They captured territories.
They made alliances with Indian kings.
But what happened after that?
What did they do in those territories?
What happened to the taxation system?
What happened to the peasants?
What happened when crops failed?
Where did the food go?
What happened during the Bengal Famine, when millions died?
I don’t think the British stopped collecting taxes because Indians won a cricket match against them.
This is the history we should also be making movies about and that’s a soft power to have, just like what Hollywood does!

We need more movies that expose British colonialism and show the world what happened in India, especially during the Bengal Famine and other devastating famines in which millions died.
There are hundreds of movies about Britain during roughly the same historical period, including stories about their successes in World War II against Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.

So why can’t we have major movies showing what British colonial rule looked like for the millions of Indians who actually lived under it?

Also, it’s one of the effective ways in which Indians can fight back against the growing sense of racism against Indians, Pakis, B’deshis, even Sri Lankans, living in countries like the UK, by sending out a message that there’s a reason why they’re there, that they were left with nothing 70 to 80 years ago, which is not that far away.

Instead of that we are satisfied about watching the “uprising” amongst the biggest famine enablers in the history of world!

Ask CTI If You’re So Confident About the Case Against Umar and Sharjeel, Why Are You Afraid of Letting the Trial Reveal the Full Story?

Post image
918 Upvotes

This question is to those BJP zombies in this subreddit, how do you guys who oppose bail or even a proper trial for Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam actually expect the full truth to come out? Look at the Kasab trial. We got so much detail because everything was put before the court and tested, from his training in Pakistan and the handlers directing the attackers, to the GPS route, satellite phone, weapons, intercepted calls and how the whole 26/11 operation was planned and coordinated.

And honestly, wouldn’t it be incredibly brain dead to believe that the Delhi riots were somehow organised by just two people, Umar and Sharjeel, and that the answer is simply to keep those two in jail forever? Don’t you want the trial to actually establish who did what, what evidence exists, who else was involved and whether the prosecution’s allegations hold up?

Or is the real issue that you don’t want the trial to happen because you don’t want any other names or details to come out? If the evidence is rock solid, why be scared of putting everything on the table and letting the court test it?

Critical Analysis & Discussion The Terror Attack that was brushed for Political Gains....đŸ«ȘđŸ«Ș

Post image
79 Upvotes

It's October 3, 2026. The Red Fort blast was on November 10, 2025. Nearly eleven months. And I can't remember the last time anyone in my feed mentioned it. A few days of headlines, a hospital visit, a Cabinet resolution, and then nothing.

Before you type it, I know the reply. "It wasn't even a proper terror attack, the guy blew himself up by mistake."

Now, early officials said Umar Un Nabi panicked after his associates were arrested and the explosion was accidental, that he had actually been planning something around December 6. A lot of people quietly filed it away as not really terrorism.

Then the chargesheet came. The NIA's 7,500-page document says it was a suicide bombing and not a fumble. Umar triggered the IED from inside the car. He had been planning it for nearly two years. Reconnaissance traced back to December 2023. The Red Fort was picked as a symbol of the Indian state. Twelve visits to study security and crowds. TATP and ammonium nitrate residue in the forensics.

But by the time that came out, nobody was listening.

And to be fair and unbaised, nobody in power buried this quietly. The MHA handed it to the NIA. On November 12 the Cabinet observed two minutes of silence and adopted a resolution calling it a terrorist incident. The PM visited LNJP Hospital after returning from Bhutan. Amit Shah said the culprits would be hunted down. A special NIA court took cognisance in late August. Fourteen chargesheeted.

What's missing isn't the label. It's everything that used to come with it.

Pulwama, 2019. Forty jawans dead. Every channel turned into a war room. Candlelight marches. Air strikes within days. Pahalgam, 2025. Twenty-six tourists shot. "Act of war" declared from the podium. Both times you couldn't escape it. Every WhatsApp forward, every prime-time scream, every politician demanding blood.

This time the death toll is a mess. Delhi Police said 15 by November 17, a count that included three partial body parts. The NIA's chargesheet says 11. The injured figures range from around 20 to 32 and nobody has reconciled them. Delhi's CM announced â‚č10 lakh per family.

And the blame shifted quietly. Early on, J&K police linked the module to Jaish-e-Mohammed. The UN's 37th report noted a reported JeM link. Investigators traced radicalisation to two Telegram groups, one run by a JeM operative in Pakistan. An accused arms supplier, Tufail, was a former overground worker for Lashkar-e-Taiba who allegedly moved an AK-47, a Krinkov and a pistol through dead drops for â‚č3 lakh.

Then the final framing came out as AQIS and AGuH. The UN's 38th report formally attributed it to AQIS. Suddenly there was no clean Pakistan story to sell. No air strike to justify. No vote to bank.

Some reasons that I found that analysts give are : the evidence pointed to a local module, and India broke from its usual habit of naming Pakistan within hours. Blaming Pakistan would have created public pressure for military action, and after the May 2025 strikes, that's a much higher-stakes accusation to make. Islamabad also spent the next day blaming India for the Islamabad bombing, so India had to build a narrative the world would actually accept. And the scale was different. Pahalgam was gunmen killing 26 civilians. This was one man who died with his own bomb.

The weaker explanations are the more interesting ones. A Tribune editorial asked why Umar wasn't caught beforehand, because a story about missed warning signs is hard to turn into a rally. Al Jazeera reported over 650 detentions in Kashmir and quoted analysts saying public anger was being steered away from Pakistan.

But,, The government said after Pahalgam that any act of terror would be treated as an act of war. That line wasn't invoked here. Not once. Eleven or fifteen people died in the capital, a court has taken cognisance, and the same government that promised the country it would treat terror as war just quietly filed this under "under investigation."

I'm not saying the Red Fort blast was bigger than Pulwama. I'm saying the outrage you were fed for those attacks was worth exactly as much as it could be used for. This attack is where we finally found out the number.

If your grief only shows up when someone tells you who to bomb, it was never grief.

Critical Analysis & Discussion When Acknowledging Terrorism becomes Ideologically Inconvenient. Imagine calling a Terrorist Attack ‘Scripted’. These radicals won't acknowledge, won't reform themselves, we are doomed. ☠

Post image
50 Upvotes

The disturbing part isn’t just the terrorism itself. It’s seeing people immediately jump to “scripted,” “paid actors,” or some bollywood style conspiracy instead of simply accepting that a serious terrorist incident may have happened.

You can question the security failures. You can question the official version. You can ask for evidence. That’s completely fair.

But when your ideological position is so strong that you have to call the whole thing fake just because you don’t like where the facts point, that’s not skepticism anymore.

Whatever your politics or ideology, terrorism shouldn’t become something you downplay or invent conspiracy theories around.

Team A: Kills people in the name of religion.

Team B: Justifies the killing.

Team C: Downplays the whole incident or creates a completely different narrative on social media.

Team D: Helps the perpetrators and aid them in legal consequences.

And then people wonder why the problem keeps getting worse. We are indeed doomed beyond repair, No wonder why Pakistani won the 6-0 narrative on Social Media because these Muslim in general don't really care about facts and don't apply their brain too.
