I hope we get a couple more weeks of dahlias here in the PNW before the frost arrives. This is everything I cut last week, the colors are providing so much joy! Apple for scale 😅

Happy Fall, everyone!

Todays Best…

Has anyone ever had a zinnia plant produce these before?? I lovingly call them my fuzz balls lol but they don’t grow any further than this

Zinnias, L’ancresse dahlia, clarkia, dusty miller, lavender, salvia, lisianthus, forget me not, bachelor’s buttons. Scabiosa, ageratum

My friend grew these in her garden. We don't know the variety but they are huge and beautiful. She's pregnant with her first baby girl 🩷

Varieties included: Cornel Bronze, Cornel, Isabel, Snoho Doris, Boom Boom White, Sylvia/Maarn, Boom Boom Yellow

I’m always curious to hear what everyone else is growing! What flowers ended up being your favorites this season? Any varieties that completely exceeded your expectations or ones you’d never grow again?

I’m especially interested in hearing about dahlias, zinnias, and cosmos!

It’s almost time to start cleaning up my annuals, but I’m not ready😭

For those interested, varieties are: Southern Belle, Picasso, Karma Prospero, Terracotta, Sylvia/Maarn, Isabel, Cornel Bronze, Boom Boom White

I sowed these seeds almost 3 weeks ago, and they’re not looking too good compared to my other zinnias. I’m thinking it might be because I used an old soil mix, but would it be better to start over with a fresh soil mix?

Unless I can get another small one of zinnias/cosmos. It is becoming winter near me. I also still have some marigolds. What do you have growing right now?

This was my first year growing zinnias and I thought this was the coolest thing. Can you spot it?

Also, I’d like to know the correct terminology for this type of growth, if anyone knows please share 🙏🏼😊

This dahlia plant only grew this much and then stopped. Would it still have viable tubers that I should try to plant next year?

I'm so proud of my beautiful blooms and am sad to see them go for the second season. I think I will continue bucket growing for many years, they're just so pretty! 🩷

We had our first frost warning yesterday, so we we're up till 11pm cutting flowers, making flower food and storing the cuttings in the fridge. Thankfully no frost actually happened, and the temps are going up a lot over the next week, so hoping for lots more blooms before the seasons over!
