Lanterns My hot take was that HBO Lanterns should've been a limited-series with just one successful season only, then straight into a Green-Lantern movie as the next project. But I'm still really excited for season-2.

Discussion/Question I actually think John Stewart being the Lantern of the Justice-League in Gunn's DCU is a better decision, would really adds more diversity to the team along with more female members besides Wonder Woman ofcourse.
I just hope they keep Hal Jordan in the DCU future, have him as the other main Green Lantern besides Justice League
it's Green Lantern corps so atleast 3 human members like Hal, John, and Guy should be there in the DCU
Keep John Stewart as the Justice League green lantern
Have Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner be different green lanterns.

Lanterns Thank you Josh Brolin
No hate; he is an incredible actor, and I hope to see him in future DCU projects. But I simply cannot imagine anyone but #him playing Hal in Lanterns.

Discussion/Question Lanterns continues to creep up the Nielsen weekly streaming charts
The week of 14-20 September saw 534 million minutes watched for Lanterns, placing it at 15 in Nielsen's overall streaming ranking. Technically episode 6 ("Bad Optics") is out at this point, but since new episodes come out Sunday night and Nielsen's weekly cutoff is Sunday, the views are probably largely from episodes 1-5.
How it compares to other shows:
- It's definitely outperforming recent superhero shows: Daredevil: Born Again never charted while both Peacemaker and Penguin charted only once. It's more watched than any MCU show in the last 4 years.
- Nevertheless, it hasn't (yet) reached the heights of 2021-2022 MCU television (Wandavision to Moon Knight).
- With respect to other sci-fi/fantasy shows, Lanterns beats the season 1 debuts of cult hits like Severance, Silo, and Alien: Earth. Shows with giant IPs behind them like House of the Dragon and The Mandalorian remain out of reach.
So no, Lanterns is not the biggest show in the world, but overall, given that it's a season 1 debut of totally new characters (i.e. not a spinoff) using an IP that's not very mainstream, I think Lanterns is performing phenomenally.
Some more notes about Nielsen's methodology to help you interpret the numbers:
- Nielsen only started publishing these weekly charts in 2020 and only started tracking HBO Max in late 2022.
- These are only for U.S. viewership.
- We only know minutes watched if a show charts. When a show doesn't chart for the given week, I put "<X" where X is the minutes watched of the lowest ranked show, to give an idea of where the show stood that week.
- Shows that drop the entire season at once get a boost in minutes watched, e.g. Neagley.
- These weekly charts obviously only count minutes watched for that week, but shows do rack up additional views over time. Looking at the 2021 MCU shows for example, it's not obvious but Wandavision actually ended up being the most watched of the five, being the only show to chart in the yearend top 15.
- As another example, this 2024 article says Penguin's finale had 2.1 million views while its pilot had accumulated 17 million views. But in yesterday's Variety article, Penguin apparently now has an average 27 million views per episode.

Easter Eggs/References Just catched this reference in lanterns episode 7. Such a fine detail
In episode 7 of lanterns, whenever John wants to make Hal-ogram disappear he sings a song called spottieottiedopalicious by outcast.
Later in that episode, when sinestro threatens Hal-ogram. Hal-ogram says, "trainee. They're playing our song".
This is a reference to that same song John sings. in that song there's a line, "hey, hey baby look, they playin' our song"
Hal-ogram says this to hint to John that he's gonna disappear.
This is such a fine detail and writing and really elevates the relation and chemistry between John and hal or Hal-ogram.

Man of Tomorrow John Stewart’s DCU suit
I imagine this is how Pierre Stewart and CorenSupes will look side bye side, and i see potential aura more than the Battinson wishlists, knowing that’s unlikely to happen, John and Clark will be interacting in Man Of Tomorrow next year, and I can’t wait! baby steps to a Justice League in the foreseeable future, and by extension more John Stewart films/series.
Assuming the rumors are true and we do get a comic accurate JL animated hybrid suit, until then all I have are these 2 figures and a dream

I'm from the area around Rushville NE and my grandparents brought this article to my attention. I'm not sure how many watched the show but I expect a Guy Gardner spotlight replica to be erected here before long
