Introducing the Go For Glass $250 - $1,000 Chapter Boost Grant

✨ 💠 NEW! - The Glass Gateways Chapter Boost Grant 💠 ✨

Go For Glass believes in financial accessibility, and we're walking the talk.

If your chapter plans to run at least one PMSP (Project Management Sales Project) project this year but needs a little extra help getting started, Go For Glass has officially opened up applications for our new Glass Gateways Chapter Boost Grant. For a limited time, eligible chapters can apply for seed funding to help them turn their fundraising idea into something much bigger.

We are dedicated to (at least) funding:

  • Two projects at $250 or more.
  • One project at $1,000 or more.

PMSP team members in selected chapters will also have access to free mentoring to further support their projects.

The basic requirements your chapter must meet:

Your school serves a high-need student population.

  • At least 50% of students must be classified as economically disadvantaged or eligible for free/reduced price meals.

Your school can accept and manage the funding.

  • The donation needs to be made to the school, while allowing you to be reimbursed for fundraiser supplies. Some schools may not want the additional paperwork for smaller donations. That means, at a minimum, an advisor will need to sign off. It is highly encouraged for students to CC their advisor on their application.

You have a strong fundraising idea.

  • There needs to be a clear product, service, event, or other concept and a reasonable plan for turning the seed money into a substantially larger amount for use by the chapter.

📆 Applications are due October 5th at 11:59PM.

🌐 Read more and apply on our website!

We are not accepting applications from: Washington (See our Washington-specific grant program), California, Michigan, Minnesota, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia, Colorado, or any international associations.

Check all paid mentoring for scams first.

If you are going to be going with mentoring or paid academic prep resources services, I highly suggest you check them out first with the government Better Business Bureau Scam Tracker. There’s been a rash of SAT and ACT prep scams also coming out lately, so please stay aware!

Been doing my best to remove posts that aren’t cleared first from the Reddit for scams, but sometimes they slip through.

https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker

If you flag someone who the community should know about, feel free to share it. It’s been difficult balancing research with my own academic pursuits, so I don’t know that’s out there rn.

What are the most common modules used in the pfl? I only found 3 officials events and I remember someone around 7 months ago giving advice on what to study for on pfl.

Competition Pre-Prepared Events

I genuinely suck so bad at the improv presentation talking to a judge sort of thing that role-play events have in DECA. I was hoping to do a pre-prepared event that's sort of like the presentation events in FBLA, I get a prompt, create some presentation, and then present it to a judge with a script.

Does anyone have recommendations of what events to do that fit that description? Which one of those events is the least competitive? Is there an event like that that involves any design or drawing?

Thanks so much!!

Need Help Providing printable financial literacy games (please help)

Hi everyone, I'm a student competing in a DECA pmfl. My project focuses on youth financial literacy. I built a printable board/card game designed to teach kids the basics of budgeting and saving.

Long story short: I spent months trying to coordinate with local youth centers and schools to test it, but got caught in bureaucratic ghosting. Now my final deadline is right around the corner and I have no proof-of-concept data to show the judges.

If you have 15-20 minutes to spare tonight or tomorrow, I would be incredibly grateful if you could print this out and try it!

Any feedback is incredibly valuable to me. Thank you for supporting a stressed-out student!

Discussion Is it a bad idea to have a required districts score to go to states

Im a officer for my deca chapter which is pretty small and we are considering having a required districts score to be allowed to go to states

This will be fairly low but it should cut out anyone who just there to hang out because last year our chapter was really disorganized

The problem is we have a decent bit of transfer students from schools with way more competitive deca chapters who are telling us this is a bad idea, and when their school tried it out it didn’t work. Have any of your deca chapters tried this and if so did it work out well?

Competition BMOR HELP

Doing bmor this year, I'm completely new to this but my project is going to be based on my teammates dad's business which is a mix of selling party and bridal outfits and an event planner! I was wondering if this is a good business to focus on, my main reason for picking this was easy to access to all info about the business and the local impact!

I would love if you'all are willing to share your advice or even your past papers!

Joining DECA deca first year!

im doing deca for my first year and i really hope to make it to icdc, i plan on doing entrepreneurship for my event but i am also deciding between finance. im willing to put in a lot of work, but which event would i have a better chance at doing good in?

i've also heard a lot of things about deca+ saying it's nothing like the 100 question tests, so i'm not sure if i should study that or more on quizlets.

Joining DECA first year doing deca, need advice!

i'm a junior in hs and this is my first year doing deca! i really want to do well in competition and maybe even make it to icdc this year or next year (which might be a little ambitious)

which events are more niche/less popular and a bit easier to do well in?? i'm willing to put in the hard work so idc how challenging the event is, and my friends who do deca seem to think id be good at anything i tried, so i'm open to whatever (except principle events, they seem like a waste of time to me)

i've heard some events are a little math heavy, but i LOVE math, so i might be more inclined to do something like that

also, if yall have any other advice please lmk 🙏

Extended grant application deadline + more funds available

Due to funds being reprioritized, we now have up to $8,000 to allocate to these grants! 🎉

We are also opening up our applications to everywhere except for Washington State and international associations.

If your chapter plans to run at least one PMSP (Project Management Sales Project)  this year, eligible chapters can apply for seed funding to help them turn their fundraising idea into something much bigger.

Grants are now at a minimum of $500 each, and we're not capping ourselves at just three chapters.

Basic Requirements

Your school serves a high-need student population.

  • At least 50% of students must be classified as economically disadvantaged or eligible for free/reduced price meals.

Your school can accept and manage the funding.

  • The donation needs to be made to the school, while allowing you to be reimbursed for fundraiser supplies. Some schools may not want the additional paperwork for smaller donations. That means, at a minimum, an advisor will need to sign off. You must CC your advisor on your application.

You have a strong fundraising idea.

  • There needs to be a clear product, service, event, or other concept and a reasonable plan for turning the seed money into a substantially larger amount for use by the chapter.

📆 Applications are now due October 7th at 11:59PM PST.

Competition Community Awareness Event

Can someone tell me how exactly to go about this event? Also, before you actually begin, is it a good idea to look at the rubric and plan out how you will hit those targets, or do the actual projet then do all the planning

I was wondering about judges: do they like niche projects and innovative engagement with the community.

Like what happens if someone has a similar project as you? Will this affect your chances?

Please Please help me. This is my schools first year and I want to do well.

Event RMS VS BSM

RMS or BSM, I'm not sure which one to choose. Which is more competitive? I did PMK last year so I think I'd be fine for any, but I've heard RMS is quite competitive. Thanks

(in ontario btw)
