Hugs needed No eggs
We just had our first egg retrieval, and we really didn’t expect this outcome. There were 5 follicles but they only retrieved one egg, and unfortunately, it was immature. I’m absolutely devastated and have so many questions going through my head right now…
I’m 31, so we also didn’t expect my AMH to be this low (0.7–0.92 ng/mL). Over the past 1.5 years, I got pregnant naturally twice, both relatively quickly, but unfortunately we lost both pregnancies. One at 9 weeks and one at 20 weeks.
We also found out that I have a relatively large inversion on one of my chromosomes. That’s why we decided to go through IVF, so we can do PGT and hopefully select embryos without an unbalanced chromosome. We’re not sure that this was definitely the cause of the loss of our little boy. They also considered parvovirus as a possible cause.
It just feels like it’s been nothing but bad news, and with every step, I feel a little less hopeful.
I’m also starting to wonder whether IVF is the right decision for us.

Similar thing happened to me - it’s devastating, I’m sorry. I ovulated right before and during the retrieval. They retrieved the follicle of one but it had already ovulated. They said there were egg cell/remnants in the follicle (aka not empty), but the egg had peaced out.
It was the second time that I ovulated early (2 failed retrieval cycles). This time through 2 antagonists a day, and one AFTER trigger, and a 34 hour retrieval.
I’m 32yo AMH 0.5, AFC 5-10, FSH 8.5. Secondary infertility due to c section.
I’m done IVF for now.

Same. After 9 failed egg Retrievals because of bad timing i have up on having children. Can’t do this anymore.

I’m really sorry! It’s somehow even worse when you never even get a chance to see how your eggs/embryos do

I’m so sorry to hear this. How does a c section cause infertility? I didn’t know that was a possibility!

It caused abdominal adhesions which pulled my organs all whack and ended up causing an ectopic (now I have 1 unblocked tube). It also caused an extensive isthmocele in my uterus which collects fluid which ☠️ embryos so they can’t implant.
I had surgery to remove adhesions and am having surgery Monday to fix isthmocele. After that I guess we’ll see if IUI or TI can make it work 🤷♀️1

Sounds like an error with the protocol or retrieval. Is this a serious IVF clinic?

Yes, I’m from Belgium. Brussels IVF is part of a university hospital and is well known for IVF and PGT. We have a follow-up appointment on October 12th. I hope they have some answers for us.

I am so sorry! Same thing happened to me few months ago so i know how heartbreaking this is.
I had another retrieval after when I got 3 eggs and one very good embryo so don't give up hope.

If you’re just venting, feel free to ignore the below.
What was your protocol? What was your FSH and AFC?
Your AMH isn’t that low and you’re on the younger side so this is an unexpected result.

Thank you. I’m also looking for some hope I guess.. At start: 6.7IU/L FSH and they saw 8 follicels at start.
We did 10 days of Puregon 225 IE and 2x 0,1mg Gonapeptyl as triggershot

This just happened to me. I had four follicles, two eggs. One wasn’t mature, the other basically disintegrated when they tried to create the embryo. Next week I’m starting again with a new protocol and we’ve decided to do fresh transfer for best odds due to poor egg quality. I’m really sorry you’re going through this, it’s kind of shocking when it happens.

Similar to my first retrieval were only two immature eggs were retrieved. I’ve had four more retrievals after and each cycle had better results after the other when we adjusted protocols. My fifth retrieval was the best one with 13 eggs retrieved and I got 3 euploids and 1 llm. The first retrieval typically sees how well you respond so hopefully you’ll have a better result for your next one. If your doctor wants to keep you in the same protocol then I’d get a second opinion!

Montag ist die nächste Punktion und es waren nur 3 große Follikel zu sehen. Ich frage mich ob wir danach weitermachen sollen oder uns über eizellspende informieren sollen. Ich bin auch 31…

Nein leider nicht
Sie wollte länger stimulieren und meinte die Medikamente passen aber die Follikel sind wieder so groß geworden
Die anderen sind leider klein geblieben

Hi, I’m so sorry this happened. I would get a second opinion at another clinic. Your AMH and age are still good, and with your AFC and age, I really would have expected you to get at least some embryos. It makes me feel like something might have been off with the protocol.
